Madalyn Rae (Welsh) Smith passed away just weeks before her 27th birthday at her home next to the love of her life and her beautiful children. They were surrounded by friends and family. This was far too soon, but everyone knew Maddy had lived every day with urgency. She loved deeply and showed sincere interest in everyone. She could overpower a room with her smile and energy, while at the same time not being at all attention seeking. She remembered everything, but especially what was important to you, and she asked you about those things frequently. She was beautiful, confident, patient, and gentle. She had a special depth to be able to understand any room or situation and make it better. She was one in a million and the hole left by her passing is devastating.
Her battle with cancer was fought quietly and courageously. She had a hope and positivity til her last day that left everyone believing there was no way anything could get her down. And nothing did. When the cancer had closed in on all of her organs, she told her family she wanted to have a party at the house. She wanted two days to spend time with close friends and family, and then she was ready for what was next. Those days at home were incredible for everyone that visited her, and she passed the next day just like she had planned. She lived a life on her terms, and those were always determined after thinking about the ones she loved most, first.
Maddy was born June 10, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Robert Joseph Welsh Jr. and Karen Lynn Gammon Welsh. She was a sweet and inquisitive child who was very close to her three siblings, Matt, Chloe, and Jake. She was adored by her entire extended family.
Maddy was passionate about music. She worked hard and learned how to play both the piano and the violin. Ultimately, the violin became her passion and she began performing in middle school and continued throughout her life. She was chosen to participate in an elite city-wide youth orchestra. One of the highlights of her musical experience was being a member of The Zion's Youth Symphony and Chorus which gave her the opportunity to perform numerous times at the Smith Center for Performing Arts in Downtown Las Vegas. She continued to share her talent playing for Christmas programs and at Grandma Smith's funeral.
Maddy was voted Senior Class President, crowned Homecoming Duchess, and dubbed "Best Hair" in her senior class superlatives. She was an active participant in all things student government, school spirit and leadership, but most importantly she was a friend to ALL.
Maddy played soccer and was on the swim team. She was a Second Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and very skilled at nunchucks and the bow staff. She worked during high school at Tilley's and Fabulous Freddy's car wash. As with everything in her life, she was meticulous with the details. Her co-workers loved her, and customers requested her.
After graduation, Maddy attended Brigham Young University-Idaho. She earned her Bachelor's Degree studying Public Health. It was at this time she dated and then married Chandler David Smith on September 5, 2015. They were married in the Las Vegas LDS Temple, but always enjoyed telling people simply they were "married in Vegas" just to keep them guessing. Their relationship was one in a million, true soulmates.
Together, they built an incredible life, initially in the grueling world of door-to-door sales and managing large teams of associates. This eventually lead to real estate investing and a successful RU-vid channel. She was the boss, counselor, hype man, editor, co-negotiator, encourager, and more often than not, the voice of reason. They were unstoppable!
Wren Yantorno Smith was born at the end of 2017. Andi Kristine was born just 21 months later in 2019.
The children thrived with their proud parents leading the way. Maddy was an incredible wife and mother. She was constantly supporting or censoring Chandler's every endeavor... and there were many! She never missed an opportunity to educate the kids through endless activities and hands-on experiences. Each day was planned with a purpose. She was constantly exposing them to great books, museums, people, places, and things. Their little family was in constant motion. Hiking, biking, skateboarding, swimming, visiting parks, zoos, and exploring new destinations, particularly their new backyard. The Hawaiian Islands were a favorite vacation spot; sailing, swimming, playing in the sand, eating their favorite Acai bowls and Hula Pies.
Maddy's trademark attribute was kindness. She was an incredible listener and could perceive people's needs. She was not afraid to jump in and help under any circumstances. She was a fast friend to anyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a close group of girlfriends who would gather often for girls’ nights or tea parties at the Grand America. They supported her tirelessly throughout her battle.

As a medical doctor who has been around patients that died, even young ones, and is expected to be desensitised to the realities of life, and also as someone who is not even a crier, I was sobbing by the end of this beautiful montage celebrating your wife and your life together. Maddy was obviously a remarkable, beautiful and incredible mother, wife and human being. Any of us, never having even met her, can recognise that. My heart breaks for you, Chandler, and your kids. But you have also displayed an extraordinary amount of courage in the malevolent face of cancer as you held your wife’s hand through this and so, I have no doubt that you will not only dust yourself off and show up for your children but rebuild a beautiful life for them where all of you will thrive, just like Maddy would’ve wanted. Rest in paradise to your dear sweet wife

How can you even be desensitised to things like this? The day you're desensitised, you need to go do something else....
@thanishasanthosh2204
@thanishasanthosh2204 12 дней назад
@@87JuliR As doctors, we are more desensitised than the average person who doesn't find themselves surrounded by the dying everyday. Desensitised absolutely does not equate to apathy, a lack of empathy or becoming blase though and that is where YOU are wrong. It speaks of the 'shock' of something like human passing being dulled simply due to sheer experience. The first patient death I saw made me bawl in the duty room, my first few autopsies attended (of people younger than me) put me into a desolate and disillusioned place for weeks. Hell, being in the PICU and seeing 5 year olds arrest made me question my faith in God. While the sadness prevails each time I encounter such a case, the intensity and shock is not all encompassing and devastating as the first or second or third time and is instead replaced by quiet acceptance. It is also the only way in which most care providers can deal with the trauma of watching the precarious balance between life and death everyday and continue functioning. I weave poems and prose from patient encounters that moved me and the wonders and pitfalls of medicine, the body, the human condition. Very far from callous. I wouldn't expect you to understand what I'm talking about unless you work in healthcare so you're forgiven for your sanctimonious and ignorant comment.

This woman deserves a movie. This showed up at the top of my recommended videos. Idk why. And I don’t know why I felt compelled to click on this 20 minute long video about some random woman I’ve never met. But I did. I spent just over 20 minutes getting to know this woman, getting to watch her hold onto so much positivity when all the odds were stacked against her, something that I, myself am painstakingly terrified of. She also seems so incredibly lucky that she has such a supportive family and the ability to afford what looked like just about the best last year you can have. By the end of this video, I now feel like I know her myself. I won’t lie, it made me tear up. Maddy sounds like a wonderful, amazing wife, mother and everything else. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Good for him! I know of a couple once where the wife died of cancer. She had a really good friend who helped her husband care for her during her dying. She sensed that the two of them would be good for each other after she was gone. At one point when she was still alive, she held both of their hands, and then clasped them together, as if giving her blessing to their future union. After she died, that’s exactly what happened! They got married. It just happens that way for some folks. Nothing wrong with it at all.

In the Jewish faith we believe that every soul chose their life before coming down to this world and agreed to it. We agree to it because there is something we need to do on earth to elevate us higher in heaven, and bring us closer to God. Some ppl do the work that their soul needs quickly and go back to heaven, leaving pain in their wake but we know they're in a great place near God, others need to live longer lives to achieve that which their soul needs. Maybe this can give Chandler and his adorable kids, and the rest of the family some peace, to know she's in a better place surrounded by holiness and God. Sending love and hoping u guys can brave the days ahead without her.

I get so angry when I see such young beautiful people inside and out die of cancer. Especially when they live a healthy lifestyle and do all the right things plus they are living their lives to their fullest. But then you see people that live into the 90’s who just waste their life with drugs and they are terrible people. They smoke cigarettes, eat whatever they want and never exercise a day in their lives. I’m not much of a religious person but I really hope that there is a good reason for it.

The love she had for her loved ones was so obvious and present, I can’t imagine the void you are all feeling now. She was courageous in her fight, but so are you, Chandler. And I know you’re STILL fighting with the loss of the love of your life. I can’t make it better, but I will be praying for your healing and the healing of everyone she touched with her exuberant presence. “I’m sorry” really just doesn’t cut it, does it? I imagine that what you are going through is really difficult, but I would like to talk to you about someone very special. God gives us free will to choose to live our life our way or choose to live it with Him and for Him. That is why I advise you to repent of your sins and give your life to God. Jehovah is a triune God because he is the Holy Spirit, Jesus (son) and Father; and Jesus died on the cross for our sins because we cannot be saved and we were condemned to hell because we are all undeserving of the kingdom of heaven and the grace of God. (Romans 3:23)(Romans 3:10-12). But God, in his mercy, sent his son Jesus to die on the cross and later be resurrected. JESUS IS GOD and everyone who repents of their sins, believes in their hearts that Jesus died for our sins and confesses him as their lord and savior, will be saved. Romans 10:9-10. What is actually brutal & unfair is, that all these cancers & so-called diseases, which are intentionally engineered & evily being inflicted on many. Yet let's not get that confused, as those evil causes are NOT done, by the hand's of my God in Heaven, which is now where sweet Maddy rests.❤ Sooo..whom does that leave in your mind's, as the legit culprits, that are literally being brutal, unfair & are literally causing, these evil types of harms, on so many of our loved one's, both young & old. This reminds of my Grandmother. We found out she had Stage 2-3 colorectal cancer. She went through chemo and treatment and we were all told that she was officially cancer free. She rang the bell and walked out with a clean bill around Thanksgiving. We got to celebrate one last Christmas with her before we got the news that the cancer had returned once again. It was an aggressive and incurable form and had spread very quickly. Due to her age, the stress, and the pain, she didn't want to go through treatment again as it was highly unlikely that it would work. She just wanted to be around her loved ones and try to live life to the fullest with the time she had left. We lost her in May of 2019. I miss her everyday. I keep a little piece of her with me in a necklace that I wear everyday. I love you Gran Gran.

For the first time, I saw a magnificent and gorgeous woman take her struggle and chose to celebrate it to every second. I am proud of people like her. She makes death beautiful as we are spiritually beings living a human experience. Her job was done and complete, she was called. And so she gracefully accepted her next mission over. Just remember this Angel was called back for something new; and didn’t complain. Thank God for all of her friends and family that supported her. And God bless her spouse and children. As someone who lost her father to cancer at an age of 7 years old, I want to say thank you. Thank you for allowing your children to be part of the journey and thank you for allowing them to say goodbye properly. It's something I never got and I know my mother did it to protect me as a child, but it's something I have to battle with now and have been for 20 years. I also have a plea for you: Please talk with your children about her a lot. Talk about all those great memories you all had together, so they will never forget them. Please don't keep quiet. It can be so hard, when you forget more and more, because noone speaks about the good moments anymore and then suddenly you can't seem to remember much anymore. Keep her in your memories and hearts. I wish you and your family a lot of strength.

I lost my mom when she was 52, I was 24, so not nearly as young, but I really relate to this. The hardest part has been not having anyone to remember her with me. My husband and children never knew her. My parents were divorced and my dad had just blocked her from his mind like she never existed. All that’s left is what I have in my mind, her art, and photos of her. Even though it can be hard, having someone to help us remember the ones we have lost really does make a huge difference.

@@Mrstriplejranch yes sorry you had to go through that even though you can’t find someone else to remember her with maybe someday you’ll find someone who can relate and you two can go on and on about memories with your loved ones.

Life can be so bloody unfair. To see such a lovely young woman taken by cancer is heartbreaking. RIP Maddy, one day you'll be with your husband and kids again. God bless you and the young ones, Mike. I know how hard it is to lose your wife. Others living with cancer, I wish you the very best of luck on your journey, great strength and positivity, and hope you can kick this damned terrible disease to the curb. Bless you all.

Sorry if I made some grammar mistakes, english isn’t my native language so I had to use translator.

I lost my best friend from elementary school to age 35 to lung cancer & he wasn't a smoker. We both worked together, had 2 boys the same age & our wives were best of friends. I quit my job to help care for him, my kids & wife were right there with me! Here's something that will make everyone think. While on Hospice, a few minutes before he passed. He gently whispered in my ear, "I can see him Mike! I'm going to be OK! It feels so good here!" I wasn't a "True Believer" either but i wonder everyday, even years later what it was that he saw & made him at piece? I think we all know.. There really is something better out there for us when we pass. The Good are always taken away too soon from the ones they love.

Beautiful testimony! This world isn’t all there is. I feel it in my soul. I lost my dad who was my best friend for 50 years this year I’m lost but I know he’s with my identical twin daughters that died two days after they were born. And also my niece that died suddenly at 26 of a blood clot. She lived with me and my dad at different times during her childhood and teen years. The four of them are happy and no longer suffering like us.

I lost my mother when I was 10. She died from stomach cancer. The last time I saw her before she passed away, I got so scared. Several months later, after she passed, I had a dream of her. And she had on a beautiful blue dress and she told me she was fine. It helped me over the years when I had tough times of missing her. I pray for you and the children. Some day when your daughter is a young adult, there is a very good book called “motherless daughters, a Legacy of Loss”. She may want to read it . I could not read more than 2 chapters at a time. But, it helped me a lot God Bless

Maddy was so beautiful and brave and strong. She is an incredible loving mother. You don’t see many Maddys in this world today. It doesn’t seem fair! As a cancer survivor, I can say Maddy is a true warrior! She fought some battle. My god, this life doesn’t make sense! I’m sorry Chandler and Maddys family for your loss. May be she your angel and the wind that blows through your hair. The butterfly that lands on your shoulder, for she will be always be near.

Came across your last 2 video's and it reminds me a lot of what I'm going through. My girlfriend of 4 years passed away September 9th, 2023. She was 36 years old, I'm 27. She left behind 2 young kids in their young teens. She had cancers but beat them, she had other health issues as well but she always remained so strong and positive. She was always so brave, I don't know how she did it. She had heart attacks, cardiac arrests and survived those but her heart was too damaged that they gave her 8-12 months to live. She didn't even make it a full month because she kept getting blood clots and then died during surgery for an artificial heart. I've been grieving and have felt every emotion possible. Denial, anger, depression, etc. I've thought about how I don't want to live without her and be here without her but I made her a promise and I have to keep that promise. I still can't believe that she's gone sometimes. Some days are better than others but it never gets any easier. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'll never talk to her and have another conversation with her ever again. Life just isn't fair. Sorry for your loss.

It was a true privilege to watch this video. I did not know Maddy, but you gave me a glimpse of this incredible person’s life. I have been profoundly moved by her story. Maddy and her family’s love, devotion and resilience shine throughout this video. I have lost too many friends and family members to cancer. It is with the utmost kindredness that I share my deepest thanks for sharing this chapter of your lives. Maddy’s smile is contagious, she had an undoubtable joy of life. I can not begin to fathom what you are experiencing as a husband, father and partner. Loving someone so passionately and having to let them go before you is heartbreaking. Some people don’t have the chance to find their soulmate, either in a friend, brother, sister or partner. It is an honor to witness your complicity and the love you passed to your children. Life is shorter than we realize and being vulnerable, not taking anything for granted, and living in the moment with the ones we love is key. Taking the time to give willingly, out of the kindness of our hearts, and striving for new heights makes our time here that much more special. We may have lost a beautiful soul, but we have gained so much wisdom from her journey. Thank you for your genuinity and for your willingness to share this. Thank you for staying true to yourselves and taking the time to cry, to feel, to heal and to be alive. Death is seldom a cold hand, it is a warm embrace that leads you to your next adventure. It is truly regrettable that Maddy died at such a young age, but her memory will live on in the hearts of many. From the bottom of my being, thank you for this video, thank you. I am currently studying to be a nurse and it is with absolute humility that I wish to be a shoulder to lean on for anyone. Being a presence of calm and comfort in someone's hardest moment is what I strive to be. Like many of the amazing people I have had the privilege to help in hospitals, Maddy and your family’s story will stay close to my heart. You are what keeps me going, and pushes me to better myself. Stories like these are so precious, they are an inspiration and share an even more important message ; to live fully, because every day is a gift. Take the time you need to breathe, to heal and to rest. Things are going to be difficult for a while, but if you take the time to close your eyes, to listen, to feel the stillness, the memories of that person will come flooding in. Once you open your eyes, you’ll realize that even if they are not here, they are always watching over you, always. Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to forget and keep questioning. Thank you.

It makes me so angry that so many good people, like Maddy, have to suffer like this. But you can tell from pictures and videos that you guys, as a family, enjoyed every day you could together, and you celebrate her life, not her death. Heaven has one more amazing angel, and I hope she’s resting peacefully ❤
