Dieter Krauss this guitar, an old parlor would collaps with heavy strings. It's all about preference and touch. Listen to Bob Brozman (super heavy strings) or Ry Cooder (light strings), both great slideplayers with a very different sound. So it is certainly not a must to play slide with heavy strings.
HI DADDY STOVEPIPE! I am working on getting some new slides I ordered a Diamond ,Glass Bottleneck (The Original) model and I am thinking of getting the Phosphor Bronze From Daddy slides I use Phosphor Bronze strings so it would make for great sustain It sounds Awsome on your Supertone But the weight on your slide is CRAZY heavy I got a brass slide off of ebay The thicker walled ,wider ones from dunlop The seller put an acrylic lining to fit a pinky American finger size 7. it has that inside taper we both like ,But it is so heavy it is not for practical every day use I use it once in a while It sounds Beautiful I wonder if Daddy slide can make a lighter Phosphor Bronze slide I can ASK THANK YOU FOR YOU informative Video 🙂. Ps I have Been Learning guitar Rags lately I have a request for a lesson from you By Willy McTell. KILL IT Kidd RAG on a 6 string I love that song but have no 12 string I bet you would Tear that one up 😉
I'm sure you can ask Daddy Slide to make a slide not surpassing a certain weight. I doubt if I ever will do Kill it Kid, my to-do list is endless, plus, if there's already someone teaching it I try to steer away... So Todd Albright did a lesson on it and it's 25% off during April www.guitarvideos.com/stefan-grossmans-guitar-workshop-online-store#!/Todd-Albright/c/53657085
