When you've just gotten finished disassembling some part and you're trying to put it all back together how it originally was but you're also thinking about the other car you just saw drive in the shop and making sure you stop for groceries and getting that electric bill paid and a thousand other things that go with just being an adult with a paying job (not to mention kids) it's real easy to forget routine stuff. My dad was an electrician with 30+ years in the oil field, he had to live up to insanely strict safty standards and even when working at home rarely took shortcuts, but when we worked on projects together i still frequently pointed out things like "hey maybe cutting it that way is a bad idea" or "here, before you use the dremel you forgot your safety glasses". When you have a student, they're so much more aware of the BASIC things that you're too damned smart to remember. It's why teaching is the single best way to master a craft.

It's gonna be a little hard to stop it right at the right moment but just rewatch and don't pay attention to nothing but the middle of her back. You'll see the bulge and you'll see the wire. @@mamabear0623 but to be fair, she said wire, he said cable. As a mechanic myself, terminology is key when thinking about what youve been working on. If he had unhooked a wire connector somewhere and then plugged it back in, then she said did you hook the wire? He said yes cause hes thinking connector, not hood latch cable.

The life of a mechanic’s daughter. I used to help hand my dad tools, grease, and help out while he would be working on equipment growing up. You pick up a few things along the way. I even helped him with the assembly of a Kubota mower deck when he got stumped with the deck belt. That was one moment that I impressed him. Way to go sista! We are always watching 😎

I worked with my crew of cousins for 6 years on a stone masonry business owner by my mother's first cousin, and it was almost constant hell. Between the arguments and actual fist fights on the job. Crew of 8 and all of us were cousins. They still do that stuff to this day. I'll never go back to working with family. Ironically most people can walk away from a disagreement with a stranger but not a family member. It's an argument to the end between family.

It's funny because the one that owns the shop we are a lot alike so I have a lot in common with him. Now his sister is a completely different story. She's the type that thinks she's the hottest person around, she looks like a chipmunk. When I was 18 she came into the shop and I was wearing a beater so she saw all my tattoos at that time. She told me she's not "allowed" to get tats so she tells me her daddy (cringe) told her she can't because she to pretty and perfect, to ruin her body like that. She was 29 at the time.

I totally understand the excitement of being right 😂 when i was little id help my dad repair family vehicles, mainly brakes, but id have those moments where id notice something my dad didn’t and he’d have the same reaction. Man i would kill to be able to have those moments again.

It’s because you said wire instead of cable. There’s a wiring harness for the sensor that tells you if the hood is popped open and a cable for the hood release.
Amd that is why you know your stuff too. Your dad doesn't just give away "you being right" no he's a good parent and guide in life and you earn that proud moment of being right! You'll know how to navigate for the rest of your life because of that.

As someone who has a mechanic as a dad, I know very little about cars since dad always fixed it (one of my mistakes is not having paid enough attention to what he was doing) but the pure joy when I was right about something was amazing 😂
Dude i hate when this happens My dad built my gaming PC, never did one before so he learned how to do it with RU-vid I took Electronics, Design Technology and even got into a MechEng course in uni (dropped out cuz it wasnt for me but not important), PLUS I like looking into how to get my tech working better whenever im bored Im not an expert, but I knew my fans were supposed to be turned on at the very least I looked through a bunch of shit on my pc, liquid cooler was fine, but I realized the fans werent connected properly. Knowing my dad, if I touched it myself, he'd have a fit, so I asked if he could connect the fans It took him a whole year of gaslighting me, telling me he did connect the fans and they just dont kick in until it gets past a certain temperature (this was a lie because I have now set up shit like this myself, and I know for a fact he didnt go through any of it cuz it was all factory settings when i went through it) Before he finally caved and opened up my PC to prove that he connected everything, and give it a lil cleaning maintenence. I was right. He did not connect the fans in his initial build. Took him a year to rectify the issue, and he was in a bitch of a mood when he realized I was right. Asshole didnt even apologise for gaslighting me, didnt even admit he was wrong. I bet he wouldnt have said anything had i not fucking see n it myself.
That moment of realisation. Hahaha as a mechanic we’ve all had that ahhh Fark moment. My kids have pulled me up a few times and said dad, don’t need this. Ohh yep, thanks mate haha
