I love how the system encourages interactive world building. The questions the gm asks about connections and for the players to name things they are looking for or know about the forest - it's a great way to create buy-in to the story.

I agree SO hard!!! It's so fun!! I think I struggle it a bit more when we get into the weeds of serious story beats (can't have them describe a room without a window if I need baddies to fly in that window, ya know? But the collaborative nature is fun in that way of it forces me to improves more with my WORLD instead of just NPCs and events and I'm having so much fun with the challenge. Plus, it really shoe strings player engagement which is beautiful

Thank you so much!!! I used to run a lot of Dungeons and Dragons Adventurer's League sessions for newbies so I think I've gotten experience helping people to understand systems. You're are such a great GM! And the first time players play like it's their fifth campaign, brilliant! Not to mention teeth tokens. Loving it) May I ask a spoiler-y question? The eye on the back thing: is it your creation or something i missed from the core playtest?

Thank you so much!! I'm so proud of our new players - I knew they'd do great because they're so creative! And I LOVE the teeth tokens haha it was so much fun figuring out their fear tokens. I can't wait for everyone to see Anura's! That crafty little Ribbet has only rolled with Hope so far! You totally can! The eye thing is part of the materials but it's not in the quickstart - if you take a peek at the very end of the Manuscript, Chapter 5: Creating your World has sections about different areas of the world and one of them is the Sablewood! Those areas are AMAZING for world building with all kinds of potential hooks and area-specific loot, etc. I kind of picked and chose different things I liked and merged some of it together. I found the eye note (players if you're reading NO PEEKING) under the 'Rumors' section! It's VERY cool.

@@taniaselfindulgart3847 Isn't she so cute?! She took it from the real-life Strawberry Frog that has pink body/face and blue legs almost like they are wearing little pants and gloves! If you look closely at her character art, you can see blue finger tips poking out from under her gloves and it makes me want to cryyyyyy haha

We definitely had to consider using AI, but I decided if we were going to do this thing, we were going to do it right and fortunately we have a GREAT artist that we know closely, Bugaloux on twitter. It really means a lot you saying this and I fully agree - I get when small streams can't invest, but if we can do it on a shoestring budget, the big guys have NO excuse. Support artists!!!

If you're running Sablewood and you need NPC inspiration I just posted our Session 2 and I got to use I think all of the NPCs introduced in the guide! You are absolutely right. Did you know that every one of us has at least one cat? Starfire, Apollo, Bagheera, Nico, Rootbeer, Hex and Moonlight. If we each got a cat cam that's a possible 7 cats that could be on stream at any given time! First step, cat cams. Second step, cat content. Third step? Profit.

29m - There are also support abilities with some classes that recover stress (or hp), such as Bard's Inspirational Words. (As well as short/long rest options.) 59m - Good teaching of the things, most don't do that. I still wonder if the mathing would be confusing as a player, but I guess you'd kind of get used to it.

Absolutely! Thanks as always for the amazing context!!! I love my fellow source-material reading friends! And thank you so much! I'm really trying to make these initial streams at least through the Quick Start Adventure include a lot of guidance not just for my newbies at table but also for any newcomers who are trying to learn from videos! I used to do a ton of DnD 5e Adventurer's League and taught a lot of newbies, so I've gotten used to adding those kinds of quick touch-bases in-game so that nobody gets embarrassed to ask.
