Joe takes a look at a Leatherman Surge clone: the DAICAMPING DL30 Multitool. For under $40 can this work ready multifunction plier do the same jobs as the Surge?
I’ve had one for several months. The tool is awesome! One gets a huge bang for the buck! Leatherman needs to wake up and start working on some cost reductions & new affordable tools!
I agree. Leatherman's really falling off lately. The smaller brands are getting better and better. Not only do they innovate more but their tools are also way cheaper.
I have the Bibury version - probably made in the same factory. It's a big, beefy, chonky boy, and seems to be pretty well made. I think the use of non-proprietary (and not terribly difficult to find) bits is a big plus. Home Depot sells a Husky brand screwdriver that uses them, and Walmart sells a Hart brand screwdriver that does as well.
Good video! I think this tool is a very nice alterative for those who can not afford the high price of the LTG tools & for those who want to enter the multi tool market....a very nice set of tools at an attractive price point....
I purchased the BiBury version of this tool from Amazon. Mine didn’t have the problems you noted in this video for yours. I’m thankful for these clones and am very happy with the one I own. Thank you for the video review.
@@planetdee3587 the Daicamping, Rocktol, & BiBury are the same tool. I probably wouldn’t have purchased any Leatherman if I’d found this first. Good tool.
@larryvincent1083 I particularly wanted to try the Bibury because of many of these clones, there is a slight difference in quality. I bought the Rocktol Wave clone and I had a few issue with it. I later bought the Flissa with no issue. I love the finishing and frame on the Rocktols but I don't trust them anymore. The Bibury looks a but better from a QC perspective from the review videos.
@@planetdee3587Rocktol has a model that looks identical to the Bibury. They’re almost certainly made in the same factory. I have a Siupro that’s similar to the Flissa, which I love. The Chinese tools are great when you get them on sale.
I have a few leathermans and i recently been using the bibury surge clone......thing surprises me and leatherman should be scared people dont want a fancy magnacut steel etc etc. They want a working tool and the cheaper steels are perfect it brings down the cost and u dont have to worry about breaking it all the time. Also u can beat the knife and its easy as hell to sharpen up for the next day at work thats what most people want.....and as of now leatherman has lost thier way creating all these new garage prototypes and collectors items
I haven’t really used it yet. I have no idea if a bit of break will fix anything. Also, why would I bother lying? It would be more effort in an already niche and obsessive subject on RU-vid. I will make a follow up video once I have used it for a while.
I think what he means is that the tool ur received is probably a defective piece because the one I received doesn’t have the stiffness issues yours has. The one I received is perfect. It’s much better than leatherman despite being an overall budget tool and lower end steel. It’s holds up well. As good as any Leatherman if not better. Leatherman quality isn’t the best. So a clone coming even close especially this close says a lot. Victorinox imo is still the best quality tool out there for the money.
