Lanier’s last set was nothing short of brilliant: extremely high initiative, strong consistency, great power & acceleration. Lanier has my respect from China🙏
Was not a fan of this umpire. 49:19 -- Lanier wants the court mopped, told to use his shoe, and on the next point at 49:55 nearly injures himself and needs medical timeout due to the moisture on his shoes that caused him to slip. Just let the guy get that area mopped.
And then he told Lanier to put his shirt on! Some things I can't forgive. He needs to be fired. I mean seriously, the umpire could have caused a career ending injury. Who does he think he is?
J'ai l'habitude de regarder du Bad sur youtube et aux demies finales j'avais l'habitude de retrouver d'autres noms et d'autres nationalités... Quel plaisir de voir Lanier et Popov briller à present !!
@@lxzer9633Well, Shi YuQi wasn’t that well in form. Hes just come back from a mental defeat at the Olympics and he’s tired physically. Hes also 10 years older lol
@@i2Sekc4U Yeah when a.🇫🇷 Win. Its always excuse... Lzj got beaten easily then chico then nishimoto. Here it was a great match but of course coming with new excuses.
It was a completely different area of the court, but it definitely sends a good message to the umpires about considering that risk. Lanier does delay a bit at times and there are other players who just waste time and play mind games trying to pretend the court needs wiping (of course only at important points). Lanier didn't ask for the area he slipped to be wiped after the slip.
@@J.J.J.J.J.J.J Where do you think the moisture from the area he wiped with his shoe went? He didn't slip because of the area but because of the moisture on his shoes.
@@tonnguyen2498 I’m not denying that Lanier is a good player. Just saying that Shi is not playing his best. Because I’ve seen much better from him, but not that he played bad.
@@tonnguyen2498 agreed. Shi is a fantastic player and I am confident he can beat Lanier prime in his prime but he might just need some time before he gets back to his best self. But I am also confident that Lanier will be the best player in France for a looonnnggggg time.
Wow what a performance! Great job Alex. Nice to see more non Asia players compete at the highest levels Hope to see more Europeans and North Americans in the future compete at these stages of tournaments
@@thefallenarm589c'était y a plus longtemps que deux ans, quand je dis "petit" c'est plus dans le sens de l'âge. Mais effectivement il est devenu très impressionnant physiquement
Lanier vs Kunlavut will be a worth watching battle. Kunlavut shares almost the same age as Lanier. Recently having a silver olympic medal in his pocket
I remember a year ago RU-vid commenters insulting the likes of Lanier because they didn't compare to other previous best juniors. I knew they were wrong and that Lanier was going to start making his mark.
