In australia we have these. In my opinion this is one of the best designs of daikin aircon and I had one for 10 years and performed at the same rate the whole time I had it!
As a professional you should have opened checked grill which obviously needed cleaning and would have seen busted blade. Also refrigerant charge could have been confirmed to assure condenser wasn't damaged. Always carry some extra batteries in work vehicle.
I had a problem a few years ago with a newly installed Daikin unit. I learned from experience that the fan blades were a bit too close to the shroud, only about 1/8 of an inch, Problem is, when in the winter and heat pump mode, ice will build up on this ring if the humidity is high. Then the fan will scrape the ice. I have had a problem with the rubber isolation mount causing the motor shaft to droop slightly and the clearance from the fan to the shroud gets less than 1/16 of an inch at the bottom, I ended up putting large washers over the rubber at the top of the fan mount to compress the rubber and help prevent future fan sagging.
I thought it blew a line and the sound was the compresser pumping. Then hell, I remembered I don't work on cars anymore. "blown out spark plugs". Great video.
And the homeowner wondered why his wife was sitting on it everyday when he got home... i saw a similar situation on an LG once but not nearly that bad though
I had a bunch of Amana PTAC's around that same age at the schools Ralph. Every one of the condenser fan blades broke eventually. The new blades were glass reinforced. You could see the fibers in them.That camera is awesome quality!!
I just wondered if Daikin and Goodman was using the same blade manufacturer and material lol. Let us know if new blade looks any different material-wise.

Mmmmm not true GREE, lg and some Fujitsu are the only mini split brands made in China most others are made in Thailand or mylasia old Daikins like this one and Mitsubishi are made in Thailand new daikins and ether made in America or mylasia
When they called me and told me the unit was making noise I was hoping it would be something simple, I wish it would have been a stick in the outdoor unit or something like that
