I would put a vg in it. They aren't difficult to work on, they came in the car so they fit, and they will hold more power than an SR or KA. Also I would put poly bushings in the suspension. It will completely change the way the car drives.

Well s.o.b... You just provided a solution to my PS leak on my own 86. Right there at the input. Here I was was thinking of sending it off to RA for a rebuild. Ugh... Now I need to work on my own content too. 😑
