Dude you have ALL the problems my 1986 300zx has LOL! I just got the exterior done but my power steering and interior are yuck! Perfect video man, thank you and I'll do a DIY job due to your video!!
I have an 85 that was basically gutted besides the carpet and back seat but idk where any of the harware goes to all the interior parts it’s just in ziplock bags
You have something else going on if your fuel economy is that low. I have 6 of them and I have never gotten below high teens. I average in the upper 20s. Also, a VG is a difficult engine to blow up. Unless you intentionally do something to kill it, it probably won't die.
If that fuse blows again, check for continuity to ground on pin 36 of the ECU. (While still plugged in, backprobe it.) The 02 wiring made me think of how these cars use common grounds for a lot of things, and the MAF happens to share that common ground.... And you removed the air filter and it ran fine... Not to mention, these are self cleaning MAF's, which is probably what kills 90% of Z31 batteries that don't drive often.
A bad maf had me chasing problems for like a month. I swapped it out got it running great, then LS swapped it. I liked the VG but that LS has so much bottom end torque. I don't regret it.
I'm happy to see a z31 video. My shitass wants to see a vq35de put in it 😅. Can't really go wrong with an ls motor tho. Hope to see more Z content in the future!
the stock ECU cannot hand the amps the aftermarket fuel pump draws and will short the ECU. You need to do a Fuel Pump Relay Mod on these cars to not short the ECU.
I got one for $500 from my brothers friend and I was trying to do the same as you bro put in a turbo and fix maybe the seats hopefully she comes back another time for a video 👍🏽🔥
Always come back to this playlist and re watch these videos. I have an opportunity to buy a 1986 slicktop manual z31 for $600, i want to, but it's intimidating for a first project car 😅.
