Daily driving with a welded diff won't kill you!

Too many people on the internet give bad information on the dangers of welding the diff on your daily drifter. While I agree a good LSD is almost always better than a welded diff, don't think you're going to die if you try using a welded diff car for anything other than drifting. This is for you kids who can't afford a baller LSD, but keep getting talked out of welding your open diff by people blowing the cons way out of proportion.

Good topic, I remember getting similar comments about how you can't drift with SuperHICAS in S13s (very not true lol) As you said, welded diffs give more traction to the drive wheels, which doesn't hurt street driving other than parking lots. Street wipeouts come from driver error, not welded diffs. Yes, the added traction generates more turn-in understeer than stock but considering that it's always the same, drivers can easily learn to compensate for it and enjoy the enhanced traction. Side note: LSD units cause less understeer but still lock well.

@danielskrskr
@danielskrskr Год назад
@@EvanWoss sure but you're turning off traction control and abs to run the welded diff. really the only way to recover from hydroplaning is to have experience drifting at highway speeds so no, it won't make you "hydroplane easier" but it will be harder to recover unless you have a good amount of experience, then it's arguably easier to recover and in a badass manner

@redlineautoworks7901

Hello, It is not recommended but I have been doing it daily without any concern, aslong as you have sticky and fat tires it keeps up the grip, I can even recommend to lower the air pressure if you want even more grip. If you have a lower profile on the tires and slightly little pattern left on the tire then you can sense it losing a bit of traction but with 250 HP it wont lose much, if it is higher then that, absolutely not, better get the sticky ones.

watched whole video but seen no evidence or test that can prove that welded diff is same as open diff. But i tell you what you do take two same cars find a good bend on a road and try to keep up with the stock open diff on same speed especially on wet road. On sharp bends your car will start to slide unlike open diff because you demonstrated yourself while turning both wheels try to drive at same spin ratio where open diff allows one wheel to spin faster other slower not allowing the tyre to lose grip on the road. But anyway who cares drifting is fun :)
@itsbl5tar
@itsbl5tar Год назад
On the contrary, all of your power stays with the driving wheel and increases turn in grip. The sliding inside wheel at sharp corners is not an indication of grip loss. The outside wheel is the one maintaining grip for both diffs.
