You have to buy at least 2 at a time, or they'll freak out (and be lonely) and usually they try to run away - because their herd animals.

For people, like me, watching this a year or more later: in my opinion, that is for fresh eggs. I wouldn't put store bought eggs on the counter.

Some of us do Denise. I have a doe that has a very strong and even stubborn personality, although I love her dearly. She was a stomper and would lift her foot to the bowl I'd be holding, which if it was a bucket on the stand it would be spilled. She stands still now, but It can be a negative to have to use the ropes to hobble long term. Because as a 2nd freshener, she now seems to miss it if I leave it off to get her used to not having it there. It is more ideal not to have to use them, but they can be a great training tool. Some does can be skittish, or shy and if like my stand, it is up against a wall, they will stand against that wall and feet together making it hard to milk. So again drawing the outer leg toward the edge of the stand helps, and I find she relaxes nicely. When goat owners have the chance we try to let the young doe kids up on the milk stand to have a treat, get hooves trimmed, pet and brush them, get them used to having the udder area touched well before they will be having their first kids or being milked. My big doe above was already getting ready to have her babies before the milk stand was in place, so there was not time for advance training, to teach them to stand calmly and with legs apart a bit for easier milking.
