I have been playing with my cream separator for a few years. It looks like we have the same unit. There are a couple of things I do differently. First, I run about 3 cups of the hottest tap water through the unit to heat up the disc. They work better. Second, at the end, I heat up 3 cups of skimed milk to 120 degrees F. I run this through the separator after all the other milk is finished. It melts any hardened cream in the disc for better emptying. I use skimmed milk to make ricotta. I whip the cheese after it has strained, and add back some of the butter and a bit of salt for flavor.

This is a fantastic video. Thank you for taking so much time to show a lot of ways you are using, storing, and utilizing all the milk in different ways. This year we got 2 bottle baby milk goats that we hope will start our herd down the lovely road of dairy and with this collaboration, we can not wait to make all these lovely things with milk. Thank you again for explaining so much in detail! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Another great video Heather 🧈 💛 I can't wait to see the loofah to start growing.. I want to try to grow it hopefully next year. Fingers crossed I find a place to live soon. I have been looking into buying a camper just to get out of living in the car this summer. I hate the heat, well the heat inside a car in the summer time. All your kids (goat kids) are getting so big ❣️

Super fantastic video! I have so much more appreciation for butter than I ever did before. I love that you're collaborating w/the Mennonites and how you're always thinking ahead and all the subtleties you notice and appreciate and...I could go on and on. It was super neat to see the butter break from the buttermilk as best you could show. It was still very apparent. Your goats are the cutest. You work so hard and are so organized and methodical. I remember trying powered milk as a kid (because it was all we had) & thinking it was disgusting. Thanks for sharing your expertise. I doubt I'll ever make butter of my own but I know what all goes into it because I've seen it with my own eyes. Funny story, my sister and I went to a wedding out of state and she complimented the chef on some special butter they served all of the guests (everything was amazing). They ended up sending her a whole stick of butter home. We had to figure out a way to get it back from Illinois to Minnesota on a bus. I can't remember exactly how we did it but we managed to get it back intact. What a treat!
