I was born in the mid-90s so I grew up in the early-mid 2000s. It was amazing how much technology changed from 2000-2010. I remember when RU-vid was first launched back in '05. I was in middle school. Hard to believe that was 13 years ago.
90s babies have nothing 2do with the last legitimate generation.so even if u were born in 90..u were 9 at best when thr decade ended.u had no social status or interaction and most likely very little memory of anything that actually occured in that time frame.i know it sux..but be honest with yourselves.ura millenial cunt and the vast majority of that generation are uneducated..the irony of that is, uve had access to more information than any other human b4u.somehow theyre all sensitive cunts and half retarded though.keep up the good work kids.xoxo
The 2000's was such a unique decade, because the 2000-2005 and 2006-2009 felt like two completely different decades, from the technology available to us, to fashion, to movies, music, tv shows, videogames.
the world turned to shit in 2011, alongside my will to live. the only reason im writing this and not 6 feet under, is because of my dog, hollywood undead and a bottle of scotch
in 2000's i was already all grown up i turn 20 in 1998 in 2000 i was still acting like a teen i regert that i did not spend more time on interent learning new ideas about real life that school didn't teach me real life after i leave school
Ehhhh I was am eighties kid, and I honestly feel that the sweet spot was 1980-2010. Except for entertainment. Music and movies definitely hit a slump around 2005-2015 or so.
I swear things started going downhill in late 2014 for multiple reasons I can name a couple inflation, social media, discontinued items, more electronic less analog , . Things got a little better for me in mid 2017 but when 2020 rolls around things got more worse and so far does not look like it's going to be a good decade we did get a good start
I reconnected briefly with a few old friends in the last half of the decade, but other than that, everyone went digital and moved out of town or lost connection, plus I went back to college night courses
A big thing I remember from being in high school 2000 to 2002 was LETTERS. We still wrote letters to each other by hand. Many times it was the only way to have a private conversation with someone ( unless parents found the letters). Passing letters to chicks was risky business because they would keep them and get caught at home. It really sucked at times. I remember my big crush was always grounded and it was like trying to get a message into north Korea to contact her.
Oh my God yes. It was so hard to get a hold of someone when they were grounded. Couldn't call, because their mom was going to pick up. A letter was the only way, and that usually only worked if they had a sibling you could pay off. Lol. Good times.
The 2000s was fun because using the internet was a treat sort to speak. We had to ask to use the computer. I was really only using the computer for school until 2008. I wasn't allowed to use RU-vid or the internet alone until I was in 8th grade/ high school. Other than that I had a very imaginative childhood- lots of dolls: bratz, barbie, polly pocket, american girl doll
@@Jdelli0916, Magically in 2010? Are you saying that the whole world had smartphones immediately in 2010? I say around 2012 or 2013 was when smartphones started to creep up into people's lives. Before then it was more of just something that made you looked cool.
Actually the correct way to say it is "twenty oh eight", I say that too. In 1908 people didn't say "one thousand nine hundred and eight" they said nineteen oh eight, therefore it is twenty oh eight.
@@magicalishusdf1975 people who lived through the 2000 to 2010, call it two thousand followed by the number of that year. The younger generation try to call twenty 0 whatever number it is.
I was born in 1990. I will be 30 years old next year and the last 15 years feels like it has flown by. Got 3 kids now and I realize they will never experience the world as we did(90s kids) they will never know the world without social media and the internet, they go outside far less than we did and act like it's a punishment when I force them to. So sad.
Musa Haque lmfao the op said anyone who’s not a 90s kids would never experience what you just describe and you agree fed with him but thought he was talking about younger people
I was 7 years old when that decade end, and i miss so much 2000s. We will probably, never have such advance decade like this. 2000s is real meaning of perfect decade.
Animation wise: The early 2000's saw the second reinsurance of animation. When Cartoon Network was presenting characters that will become as popular as the Disney renisuance of the mid 90's. Quality animation did not become popular again until 2010.
The 2010s was the beginning of the end as far as technology goes during the 2000s technology was just for the occasional entertainment and not something people completely relied on
For me 2000s was the best year and I was still a child. It was so peaceful and a rocking environment. Music wise the vibe stopped at 2017. After corona virus, there is a strange and non explainable environment, its just so gloomy and sad. I remember that I used to roam in the night, it was so happy happy, now its just so sad... I really can't explain 😢
I was lucky enough to finish high school in the early 2000's, before the internet became recognizable as it is today. I had real friends and socialized regularly with a great deal many real people, discussing philosophy, the end of religion, the end of the punk rock era as we knew it, sharing poetry, playing in bands together, and the majority of my life was offline. Now I'm in my 30s and those friends I made and I struggle to cope with life as we now know it; virtue signalling, bashing opinions that differ from mainstream society, and very little physical, meaningful human interaction. For those of you struggling with this now, whether young or old, or anything in between, it is not to late to reverse this trajectory. Reach out to someone you care about; we care about you, too. I care about you 😄 See you out there!
you make me so depressed. i have dreams and wants and it's not my fault i was born now. idk why i feel this way but the last few years, everytime i go on a video like this, the comments are always pointing out why life will never be the same again; pop culture, music, school, concerts, fun, etc. its like i know every generation says this, but this might be the generation where people start hating. idk what to do i feel sick
Same. class of 2000. I think im the last generation to grow up without cellphones, most households didn't have internet , we made/had lifelong friends, we actually went out and did things, and we fought bullys with our fists. My childhood into my teen years was literally a real life mix of the goonies and stand by me lol
@RogoRooks i dont specifically "hate" my generation. i never wanna be one of those people. my mom said in the 90s everyone said that. my grandma said in the 60s/70s everyone said that too. i know in 20 years people will say how they miss 2020. id rather enjoy my generation while its here. the only thing i really dont like tho, is all the political correctness, and forced diversity. that really ruined pop culture and its sad
I way lucky to finish high school in 1999. College in the early 2000s was fun. I had a Sony triniton under my bunk bed with my Xbox and Ps2 and me and roommate always gamed.
Real friends? Are my friends fake just because we were born around the time you finished hs? Most things are still the same you guys are just trying to feel special
I just remember playstation days and I was born in 1999. 2008 -2015 were the golden playstation 3 days til ps4 came out and it was good but not as fun as the ps3 days
I swear everything started going downhill in 2008 when the divisiveness started and smart phones hit the market. Everything has been all political and divided the past decade and in my eyes, I could pinpoint it back to demo release of Resident Evil 5 where there was backlash that you were in Africa killing black villagers. Then you had Obama who came out swinging on Christians right away, then years later said he wished he had a son that looked like a tatted up thug who got shot by a Hispanic community watchman who was somehow made out to be a White cop.
That means you have never known a world outside of IPhones! There was no concept of internet on cell phones before then and texting and cell phone cameras barely existed before then.
Born same year but my memory is so sharp I can at least remember the times dated back to 05. This is back when streaming wasn't even a thing and people was still buying CDs, 50 Cent was literally the hottest rapper at the time and was selling a million first week, I vivedly remember my dad taking me to CD Warehouse to get the album. But that's about as early as I can possibly remember lol
The technological advances were amazing, but everything else went to shit. Prices for everything skyrocketed and incomes decreased for the first time since the depression era. We still haven't recovered and we're nearly through another whole decade. All the good times that started during the early '80s and continued through the '90s came to crashing halt with 9/11 and the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Easily the worst decade since, but not as bad as, the Depression-WWII era. Becoming an adult in this decade after living my childhood in the comparative decadence of the '80s and '90s was a major bummer.
Well every decade has their struggles I can name off many good things of the 2000s along with the bad.I kinda of like to compare the 2000s to the 70s and 60s when Their was more tense moments in America including wars, the draft, energy crisis, high gas prices and many different protests.Point is the 2000s may seem bad but really don’t be so blinded by nostalgia and realize every decade had bad events. In fact the overall crime rate in the 80s and 90s was higher than the 2000s.Some bad things in the 80s was a high crime rate, the start of an aids pandemic and an early 80s recession. The 90s had Waco,Ruby ridge, the Oklahoma City bombing,Columbine,La riots and also a higher crime rate as well as the first attack on the Twin towers. The 2000s personally for me weren’t bad because it was my childhood.Funny enough the struggles you experienced in the 2000s are like what gen z will have to face in terms of climate change and high college prices caused by yet again the baby boomers.Man the baby boomers sure fucked the millennials and gen z over in different ways due to their careless shitty behavior.
Trying becoming an adult in the 2020s like me! I'm 25 now and can't afford to move out, stuck in Commiefornia. My 20s are wasting away. Can't find a girlfriend cause no one can even see my fucking face with the mask on all the fucking time, and if I take it off, women judge me for not wearing a mask. Online dating is impossible because women constantly flake out or ghost me. Very common thing these days. The political situation is a fucking nightmare and the economic situation makes 2008 seem like a fucking joke. Your situation sounds like a BLESSING compared to young adults now.
@@benjaminbeck6378 How can you write all that and not mention the current crisis? The corona restrictions have fucking ruined my life and now my youth is wasting away. I was also a kid in the 2000s. Born in 96.
I was born in 90 so early 2000s was my teenage years..ill never forget the ps1 and the Ps2 and xbox days 4 players with friends on xbox playing halo or playing gta on ps1 then eventually vice city and liberty city on ps2 Also gameboys were fun and Pokemon cards i remember i had a massive stack back in 97 is when i started collecting i was 7yrs old then once i turned like 12 in 2002 i gave them away i remember in 98 99 running home from school to catch the 330pm tv shows with my siblings. And fighting over the 5pm shows with my sister cause our shows came on the same time mine was dragon ball z and hers was the hillery duff show lol and that was early 2000s god i miss the old days kids will never ever ever ever know how much the world changed technology is to blame.
Yup, this perfectly explains an overview of the 2000s. I was born in '96, and grew up during the 2000s. It was quite the time of cool fashion, technology and pretty cool styles! There were bleak moments though. But, looking at the positive moments, it was amazing! I didn't like the Mid 2010s onwards ... (2022) social media and social issues in general got worse than even the last part of the early 2010s.
@@reallykid2 yes i agree, i'm from '95 and feel like the glamour from the turn of the millenia is behind us and now we're seeing a big deterioration of the society our forefathers worked so hard for
I’m surprised dragon ball wasn’t mentioned in the 90’s or 00’s vid. Same with the ps2 here. The series that induced the world to a new genre of show and one of the best selling entertainment devices ever.
I was born in 1992 so I clearly remember this! The last decade of playing with toys. There were still no apps, Bluetooth, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, smart TVs or smart watches. Wow! It's interesting how the animation movies of saying they entertained the younger audience are Pixar movies. I myself still have Finding Nemo as one of my favorite movies. When Pixar was successful. DreamWorks is successful now like a couple of decades ago. Myspace got used in the latter half of the decade. Sponge Bob got popular. And the iPod made it easier to listen to music. I remember CDs, iPods, MSN, Yahoo, thicker computers and still really going to the movie theater as what aren't used anymore or are about to go obsolete now. I do appreciate this decade of two decades ago. What I find sad now is toys not well played with anymore. It's hard to believe that even the iPod isn't used anymore. The last decade also of Blockbuster for movies.
Things started turning south in 2015-2020 were doomed. I wish I can go back to the good old days. I might’ve been born in 2006 but I’m still missing the good old days man 😭

I think they started turning south in 2017 when RU-vid started cracking down with censorship and the adpocalypse. 2016 was the best year for youtube. The peak. Love that year.
Fashion trends Low rise jeans , pink clothes. , lip gloss , mini skirts, emo clothes . Events All the re-elections , the Great Recession, 9/11. Popular movies Iron man , Mean girls , Finding Nemo , the ring.
I remember watching Bionicle commercials and playing online games. I couldn't get any toys because my parents were more busy saving up on "needs for the family". I remember Pucca, Yin Yang Yo, these Superhero shows I grew up with, Ben 10, Speed Racer, the old TTTE, classic LEGO. These were very fun times.
The actual year 2000 was great and fun. But the following years in the decade things got pretty rocky. It's crazy that the best year in the decade was the very first one.
Rick James I really don’t agree with you although 9/11 was the start of a rocky time it wasn’t the first major event too happen in history. The 2000s were actually had less crime and was actually overall a more peaceful decade compared to many past decades.
SexyMoFo I actually don’t necessarily agree with you sure the 2000s had some issues but so does every decade.Nostalgia for older decades really just blinds you too all the bad stuff that happened before the 2000s which I can list many bad things.
I remember a book like a Where's Waldo book. It was the same concept: looking for stuff in pictures. It may have even been made by the same people. (And no, it was not an I Spy or Can You See What I See? book.) It was Christmas-themed. One of the images was of a forest of candy canes, one with vertical stripes instead of spiral ones and a word bubble that said "Something must have gone wrong"; another one with polka dots instead of stripes and a word bubble that said "I'm not myself today"; and a small one that was pure white and had a word bubble that said "I'm too young to have stripes." That book also had a picture of elves making wreathes on a sort of assembly line, and another one of multiple Santas on different roofs, all of which had word bubbles which said "I'm not real" except for one, whose word bubble said "I'm real." I wish I remembered the title of the book. Does this sound familiar to any of you?
2013... maybe 2012... the last year before all of modern society fell into hell. 00s were the last decade before technology took over. So glad I grew up in such a great decade. I liked the music, and the low level tech, like DS, GameCube, Ps2 etc
I was born in ‘05 and I feel like I should’ve been born 10 years earlier so I’m just seeing what the early 2000’s were like since I was too young to remember any of it lol
Born in 1990! Best life compared to now!! No 1000 channels or all these devices! Was amazing simple time back then… had loads of friends and was enjoying my time as a true child
The 2000s was an interesting decade. I graduated from high school in 2001 and experience some of my own personal biggest successes and failures in my career, education and relationships.
I was born in 2001, and the 2000s was a fun decade to live in, although it would be impossible to relive the 2000s for like a week because we’ve become addicted to social media, internet, streaming services, and more advanced technology of today that we feel like we couldn’t live without. Other than that, I enjoy the movies, video games, and music of that decade which are my favorite things about it.
I'm 5 years younger than you and I pretty much live my life like it's the 2000s. I still use older technology, own a collection of DVDs, and mostly browse through forums on the internet. It's not impossible, but it does require a great amount of effort.
Being born in 1991 myself, the 2000’s were my late childhood and teen years. I graduated high school in 2009. Being a pre teen and teen in the 2000’s was awesome personally. I remember when big questions for friends would be “do you have a cell phone yet?” “What’s your email/aim/MySpace?” “Do you have a generic MP3 player, or an iPod?” I honestly miss cellphones with keyboards, iPods, PS2/3 Xbox/Xbox 360 GameCube/Wii I miss LOTR still being new/relatively new. Pirates of the Caribbean, the prequel Star Wars trilogy, the comedies and rom-coms, old spongebob, family guy. I miss rock music still being relevant. Breaking Benjamin, pop punk etc
It's funny because I've been alive through the mid 80's, the 90's the 2010s and now the 2020s and I can honestly say things seems to have been getting worse decade after decade. This new decade is starting off TERRIBLY. I'm hoping that it's going to be the worst year of the decade and that things will get better from here. I miss the 90's and early 2000's BADLY.
so far, 2021 is even worse. I think 2022 is gonna be worse still. My prediction is that "unaliving yourself" is gonna become the biggest cause of death by far. And the media is gonna try and blame it on corona. lol. Unaliving is gonna be reported as "corona deaths" in the statistics.
I feel bad for kids who grew up in the 2000s, the 90s were so different and much more interesting and affordable. 9/11 really derailed a lot of things in the world and changed forever.
I was born in 2002, luckily I have a great long-term memory and can remember little details about the early 2000's. What a glorious time, it's a shame what society has become.
I was born in 1982 and I have a good memory too. I always say that I can remember the mid to late 80's. Starting around age three in 1985. But if I really stretch my memory back I can actually remember Christmas 1984 when I was 2 years old. It might take some family photos to trigger those memories but I can put myself in that place at that moment in time and remember what I was doing at the time. Like for example, Christmas 1984. We have a picture of me and my baby brother sitting on my Dad's lap while my Dad reads "The Night Before Christmas" next to the Christmas tree. I actually have a flash memory of sitting on Dad's lap. I was sitting on his left knee and my brother who was an infant was sitting to the right of me on my Dad's right knee. I can seance that my Mom is standing off to the right of me in front of us taking the picture and watching Daddy read the story to us. My Dad was having a hard time getting through the story with a wiggly toddler and infant on his lap. I was eager to turn to the next page to look at the pictures on the other side of the page but my Dad wasn't finished reading the page yet. He got frustrated and tried to block my hand from reaching the page. I remember my Dad saying "Meredith let me finish reading. Don't turn the page yet!", over and over while he was reading the story. My brother was being wiggly and was a little fussy because it was almost our bed time. What is your earliest memories? How far back can you remember?
It was crazy how fast technology changed in the 2000s. In the 90s a Pentium 1 processor was only 133mhz and by 2010 you had dual and quad core 3ghz cpus. We went from dial-up to broadband internet, CRT monitors to LCDs, and GPUs doubled in performance every 6 months. Video game graphics took off, especially Crisis which bricked everyone's GPU. The internet changed fast as well... we went from using yahoo to google. RU-vid launched in the mid 2000s and then so did Facebook. The 2000s laid the ground work for the 2010s, but I have a hard-time sitting here and figuring out what new innovations the 2010s brought other than "smart everything".
@@woo_shynen8805 it was good times because he was still being nursed by his mom and wearing pull ups. The world would be pretty simple by those standards.
@@cyberpimp29 I do. It's only one memory, but I remember. She isn't as much now, far more laid back. Seriously, my eldest sibling who she has had enough with and doesn't want anything to do with hurt me as well recently and shes just like yep what'd you expect its her which i mean i understand but at the same time i chuckle because late 2000s her would have ripper her throat out lol. Anyways, I was born in '05. I mostly remember from late 2008-early 2009 onwards. Heck, i remember Windows 7 commercials lol.
I remember quite a bit from age 2 - not as much as years after of course but nonetheless the memories are still vivid & plentiful enough for me to paint a clear picture as to what life was like during that time. Not everyone is restricted to only being able to remember back to ages 3-4.
90s baby and proud #1990 if you weren't there you wouldn't know what it was like! just know us 26 to 32 years olds and up miss the 90s like nobody's business 😔 😥
After 2010, things have gotten worse for me and my family, school as well, pretty ironic. When I was in elementary school, damn it was lit af!!, my principal was cool and everything was just amazing man but of course once the old principal left, everything changed in my elementary school. I mean luckily I did experience all my 5 years of elementary with my old principal because jesus man, the school is so boring and lame now. My family as well changed, I remember when my mom and my brothers loved going outside and my house was completely filled with gangster posters and girls and all that emo stuff lmao. Not anymore though, after 2013 it felt like I went to some other world, it doesn't feel right and I miss the good old days man. Wish I could go back!
I was born in 1999, so I got the experience of a childhood in both decades, the 2000s and 2010s. I liked the years in the 2000s I remember. My first memories are from 2003 and my first clear memories from 2005. internet and technology was very different then, but also good.
@@whatsrandom6487 Yeah. I mean, the advantage today is that there is much more selection, but most of it has low quality. But I did not use the internet in the 2000s that often, just sometimes.
I was born in the early 80s. Personally I think the 90s were much better than the 2000s, that decade wasn't really at all special to me. I suppose it depends on when you grew up. Personally I think those of us who were teens in the 90s, were cooler than today's teens
@@Jdelli0916, Even before the decade even had it's own identity around 2014 or so when a lot of pop culture and trends from the 2000's (since around 2004 or so) were still around in the early 2010's? I could see your point very well on the mid-late 2010's (2014-2019). Those years were very noticeably trash but were the early years of the decade (2010-2013) trash also?
@Dagoth Ur, Well that's subjective too you know? Some of this stuff got their start in the 2000s as well you know? And even still decades that happened before the 2000s could also have some stuff where some of it can be trash but some of it can be really good. Also the statement "Zoomers would only like this past shit decade" is kinda redundant since you could apply this with any decade and any generation. I mean does only Gen Zer's like the 2000s and no one else does? How about the 90s? Does that mean only millennials likes that decade and no one else does? And how about the 80s as well? Does that mean Gen Xer's likes the 80s and no one else does? You see here it doesn't mean that only one generation will like a decade just because they grew up in it. Other generations can like certain decades too. I mean I saw some RU-vid comments the other day that didn't belong to either millennials or gen z. I saw a few Gen Xer's liked the past decade and the 2000s and stuff. Now I'm not trying to say that you should like or dislike a decade just because of all the stuff that happened in it and then tell everyone that it's trash or good for a fact and that everyone should believe in it. Obviously everyone's entitled to their own opinion regardless of it being a very overly cliche statement to say. If you liked the 90s and hated the 2010s well then good for you and I respect that. But you need to know that just because the 2010s had a lot of the shit stuff you mentioned doesn't mean that it was only in the 2010s. It got their start in the 2000s which could maybe explain people's mixed reactions with that decade. Also not all of the 90s were all sunshine and rainbows. Most of the greatness that were from the 90s were mostly in North America. If you asked someone from the countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina on how the 90s were then they might give you a much different answer than in someone in North America for example. Also not one generation is going to like or hate a decade just because they grew up in it. People of all ages and generations are allowed give out their certain opinions on how they thought of past decades they lived through because if they liked or hated the 2010s, the 2000s, 1990s, or just any decade for that matter then that's fine. It's all subjective after all and that we all want to hear about people's thoughts and experiences through these past few decades.
@Kaiyou, I mean yeah pretty much even if the game boy it didn't have the longest battery lives in the world back then (relatively speaking at least since the game boy did have a long battery life for it's time) and how would've anyone brought a n64 and ps1 outside just to play it like it's portable even though the consoles weren't lol. But yeah maybe they did spend most of their days at home playing video game consoles back then just like we do now now lol.
Honestly you missed NASCAR, it really hit its peak so far right in the middle of the 2000s, they were up there in TV ratings with the NFL, Had popular names like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Dale Jr still racing, celebrities were showing up to almost every race, just my opinion though
