Almost a full year has gone past now... all those baby feedings turned the boys into healthy nearly full-grows otters. Watching Waku gobbling his milk down, made me smile. He was so hungry... ☺🍼🦦

They look so different now! But I am happy they grew up, they are tougher now and we have to worry less. Also their characters have really started to shape as they got older. The milk feeding days are over which also gives us a bit more breathing time

I think they would, the otters are very playful. They can get a bit wild sometimes so if that would be seen as aggressive then maybe not. But over time their relationships with our cats has grown a lot.@@IMTHISBABY

@@SplashTheOtter1 Yes we now have Odie the 6th ferret-he is 11months old. In past 30 years we have had 9 ferrets (1 or 2 each time) and 2 Bichon dogs. Unfortunately ferrets only live 5 to 9 years, most likely because they are neutered too young, probably the cause of adrenal tumors-cancer. Have had 6 boys and 3 girls! Love em' 💙💗☺

Congratulations on reaching your first RU-vid milestone! There are many otter channels popping up who seem to want to do little more than jump on the 'otter video bandwagon', given how popular otters are at the moment, so I'm somewhat picky about which otter channels I subscribe to. I've followed Aty, Kotsumet, Little Otter Home, Loutre and Otter's Home for quite some time. You can see the love those owners have for their otters, and do their utmost to give the otters an active, enriched life. One is an actual zoo, another is an otter cafe but the care they show for their otters is clear. The gold standard I think, is Aty - their otters seem to spend more time in nature than anywhere else, going camping and swimming in clear Japanese rivers. Aty also does lots of collabs with other channels (namely Loutre and Kotsumet), so their otters also get to spend time in nature. Then there are the channels that seem to just want to be part of a trend. The otters are clearly pets, and their homes appear sparse, and videos all seem to be shot in the same, sparse room. Then I found you. At first, I took you for the latter type of channel, but then I read your 'About' page, and I realised you are good people with a noble goal in your heart. So you get my follow - and I look forward to watching these little balls of fur grow up. P.S. I don't think I've ever seen an otter with a more appropriate name than Splash - I love watching him swim. Waku-Waku is a gorgeous girl, too. Does her name mean something? 🥰🥰🥰
@SplashTheOtter1
@SplashTheOtter1 Год назад
Well thanks for the follow and happy that you see “the good” in us. We do love animals a lot and most of our time and money just goes into them. We have discussed so many times what if we could just build a shelter and help as much of these animals out as possible. So that would be a dream! The name Splash originally doesn’t come from like Splashing in the water but because he poo’d and pee’d a lot and Splashed it everywhere (even over Waku’s head) The Japanese word わくわく(Waku Waku) is a state of being restless with anticipation & joy. It simply means “exciting. That’s how we experienced Waku Waku when we got to know her. We will take them outside in the future, however there are lots of wild dogs out here, so we have to be careful with how that plays out

Now my focus stays with Otter’s home as the little female otter that I’ve been following since she was born is going to have babies! Really looking forward to seeing her next generation 😊

Why aren’t the otter parents allowed to raise them?
@e-nglish635
@e-nglish635 Год назад
Oh(: an egg box. It can be with salmonella on the surface! You know it’s on the shell of an egg, that’s why we should be careful when we cook them. But you don’t sterilise the box! It’s dangerous.
@SplashTheOtter1
@SplashTheOtter1 Год назад
So we read online that salmonella only lives for 4 hours on a surface before becoming non infectious. So i understand your concerns but I think they are okay. These are old carton boxes as well. Been there for a while, so it should be good. Thanks for the concern. Probably remove them soon.
@e-nglish635
@e-nglish635 Год назад
@@SplashTheOtter1 I see you read a lot about the best environment for the babies. But not all sources are good. For example, Wikipedia says: «Salmonella is notorious for its ability to survive desiccation and can persist for years in dry environments and foods.» There is also info there for wet surfaces. In other sources I also read something different than only 4 hours on the surface. I’m sure you’ll find the best solution for your otters. You seem to be dedicated to give otters all they need.
@SplashTheOtter1
