In an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, comedian Trevor Noah says that to compare writing jokes between the Obama and Trump administrations would be "madness."
No kidding. He was a bit early with that one..... WAY more relevant now. In 2018....it seemed like shit could hit the fan at any moment. Now, in 2020..........yes, the shit hit the fan. We have a shitty fan blowing shit everywhere. It happened. We're in it. Now. We...are...fucked.
Profound? Lol He’s a woke dumbass who read a couple Wikipedia articles and thinks he’s now the savior of the world and needs to prefect to everybody else
He's such a beautiful man and I mean his mind, the way he speaks, his honesty, and his downright humanity. He really was raised well and had enough adversity to cultivate a beautiful spirit of understanding.
What you're witnessing in Trevor Noah is true of most Africans. We're are raised up with very diverse but similar values throughout Southern Africa at least. I have never met Trevor Noah or even heard of him until recently but I share the same cultural ethics as he does and the ability to speak at least four languages fluently.
His childhood is really a sad one but I admire him what he has become and he is truly an optimistic guy.I simply love him for his internal unique qualities he has.
True. I am so impressed by his intelligence but as Joseph BTH said, educate oneself before any judgment/statement. I guess he read perhaps more than 100 books per year 😅. The key is to be diligent in knowing what’s happening around you and to understand the issues deeply.
''But where is home, if not the place that I've build?'' -Trevor Noah I think that this is a quote that represents the way many immigrants/children of immigrants must feel now.
It comes from playing outside with your friends too. You simply cannot be this good only with education and reading only. His personality and depth of humanity comes from all of his experiences including social interaction since early childhood. BTW not criticising you man. I understand what you meant. ✌
Wow. I am blown away by his precision and incisiveness when dissecting our human condition. You can tell from his comedy that he has great depth, but to hear him speak directly to issues without the veil of comedy is perhaps even much stronger. Downright philosophical!
I wasn’t happy when Trevor Noah took over for the daily show (loved John Stewart) but OMG he’s fantastic! I’ve become a huge fan...watch it every night!
Kristen Gaudette I think a lot of people felt the same. A John Stewart and Trevor Noah special episode would be awesome. Maybe John Stewart goes on location as a correspondent and reports on it with Trevor.
Uncle Ruckus Racist comment much? He grew up with his brilliant, independent & feisty mom who encouraged independence of thought. He grew up to be an inquisitive kid & his mom, though poor, bought him encyclopaedias etc & sent him to good private schools. He’d write letters to his mom expressing himself from a very early age encouraged by his mom. In short, his MOM provided the right environment for him to flourish, be knowledgeable, respect women & have a liberal mind. Living amongst different cultures also opened his mind more. She did a brilliant job. I bet he’s more intelligent & knowledgable than that Swiss dad you’re talking about.
It's easy, he shares none of his views. He manages to share less than a crooked politician under questioning for corruption. He manages to make zuckeberg seem alive, and zuckeberg actually frequently tries to appear as robotic and artificial as possible.
A sad but true commentary on America. Too many people aren't intelligent enough to understand stuff like this on the first time around, so most of them ignore it. Democracy is dangerous when the masses lack the IQ to understand nuance. It makes them ripe for manipulation and brainwashing. 350 million people are not smarter than one. And then you end up with what we have now: an oligarchy operating under the guise of democracy. Hopefully the conspiratorial trends and the wilful ignorance that's going around is just a fad. If people don't stop shunning education, science, and experts, we really will end up living in the movie "Idiocracy." Every time I go on the internet I can't escape the feeling that we are already half way there.
Gotta love Trevor with all my heart. He's truly an ispiring person, everytime he speaks he raises a LOT of interesting and relevant questions. I love how he really works with his mind and always has it wrapped around so many current issues. All the while keeping up spirits with that light and optimistic approach and flavored with that quick and witty sense of humor. To me he's one of many heroes of our time.
realchimera Well let's look at Trump's growing love of China. First, China is raping out country. Then Trump met with them and the daughter he wants to date get a great deal with China to have her "brand clothing line" manufactured at a big discount. Then a year of ups & downs. All of a sudden China "loans" half-billion dollars to an Indonesian project that will build a "Trump" brand golf coarse and hotels with a amusement park. Less than 72 hours later Trump, who will financial profit from this agrees to help bailout a Chinese-government-owned cellphone maker. He gave the following statement “President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast,” “Too many jobs in China lost have been lost" What happened to MAGA??? Days later Trump pulls out of North Korean summit without warning to North Korea, South Korea or Japan who have been working to set up the summit. WHY??? Because China doesn't want a peace treaty between North & South Korea. My point is not "Make America Great Again" it's called "Make Trump Richer"
What an intelligent man. Absolutely love the way he stated the fact. He knows how to change the tone of the discussion to suit the audience. A top guy...!!
Trevor Noah handled that interview so gracefully. The interviewers 'surprise' that black people at the Royal wedding was harmonious, to which Noah just calmly replied, "what do 'people' expect, the black people are going to arrive late?", a dig at her question, and she didn't even seem to know. Then her reference to "black culture" as if all black people in the world have one culture, then Noah a few sentences later points out gently that black people are also diverse. He is a pro. Many people would burst out angrily at her subtle racism...
"When there is something to punch against, that's when you truly flex your muscles. When you are a creative person and you are living in a world where the seeds of oppressions are being planted that's where you feel like the soil is most fertile to explore yourself in what you stand for." AMEN!
That hit me especially hard when he said that. I’m a historian, so my mind immediately went to the 1920s. That was the height of the KKK. They had over 4 million members at that time. It was also the height of the Harlem Renaissance, in many ways a direct pushback to the racism of the time. Trevor was spot on with that statement.
Bonnie Poole It's refreshing to see a comedian actually be so knowledgeable and talk with so much compassion for the human race...I have been a fan of his since his first show...he has his job...a comedian...and he his serious side which is so inspiring because he is so passionate for ALL of us...His unbiased look at our world and his need to understand is what we need more of...our world needs more "of Trevor" and people who are like minded...it's a start.........
I sometimes get teared up when listening to inspirating people. Trevor is one of them. He's so thoughtful and intelligent that it feels like a privilege to hear his thoughts for free. Has nothing to do with skin colour - only the message s/he presents. If I believed in gods I would say "bless you, Trevor." Now I'll just say "keep it real, as you have, Trevor".
I think it’s so funny how both the people in this interview speak with the accents of foreign countries, yet BOTH are experts on American culture and politics.
Should you have to speak like a Texan trump supporter with a third grade education? Guess what since the establishment of the nation that is America, all who have first arrived here had accents. Funny how that’s true isn’t it?
I think it's even funnier that the people who say "go back to your country" and "this is America, speak English" can barely write or speak at a middle-school level. Mere accents don't belie intelligence nor a basic grasp on political culture.
pieandkokopelli198 I don’t think anybody said anything remotely close to what u just did. Simply pointing out the irony of how people who r clearly not from America (based on their accents) r EXPERTS in American culture and politics. That’s all. Please hold the outrage.
@@estebanmolina6456 If you read outrage in writing, you might be projecting your own emotions onto it. I assumed you were pointing out the interesting fact of people with accents having extensive knowledge of American politics and shared the equal irony of some "American" people barely being able to speak the primary language of the country they push on others. Both pose interesting cases that seem to be present only in America or English-speaking countries. The second sentence was an add-on confirming that, although interesting, accents don't mean they don't know anything about the subject. If your comment actually a snide one purporting that an accent would indeed detract from knowledge in political matters, it would make sense that you see an equal amount of snide (or I suppose, "outrage") in my response. Aren't you the one being "outraged" by what you believe to be a rebuttal from the opposite side then?
I think he left us (south Africans) too early/soon so jealous.. Americans have a gem @ least he making the world that we are not just poor country as they perceive SA.. but very schooled
The gift of expression. Trevor is both intelligent and able to express his thoughts clearly and concisely. Even if he was talking about something you had no interest in, it would still be a delight to listen. A level below are those who have the intelligence and understanding, but cannot adequately express themselves. Further below are those who not only cannot express, but cannot understand either, leading to constant utterances of craziness.
what me worry Perhaps because that wasn't necessarily the focus of the interview. He has however talked about South Africa several times on The Daily Show. Unless you really know what you are talking about then it is best not to criticize.
Delvin Sinclair he’s a biased liberal SJW. Knows nothing about American politics..what war did Trump start? He should go back to South Africa. Comedy Central liberal garbage..look at Samantha bee..trash. Toilet brush head..hahahaha..Trump is winning and all the liberal losers are in denial..MAGA 🇺🇸
Unfortunately she got so much wrong. Windrush wasn't Africans, it was Caribbean people being invited to this country. Also, May inherited Brexit, Cameron gave the public the referendum. Too many inaccuracies to be perfect. Also, her the blacks vs whites stuff is shit, we may have cultural differences but we share human commonalities. People are people. On the other hand, Trevor is perfect.
Culilus you want to kill, people cause they’re conservative now? Get your head checked man..Noah sux..like all u liberals ..he’s not funny..look at his ratings..biased SJW
redrock1963 So you believe everything you hear? Look at what the parties goals are and how they are achieving it then see what side you take, just dont believe someone because they sound "smart" thats a huge mistake
Blind Tactical Option 12375 - 1st thing. " Look at what the parties goals are" . The value of someone's goals are subjective. IMHO, universal goods that allow ALL sectors of a society to grow, flourish and repair (when needed) are of high value and so goals should be set to enhance those outcomes. 2nd thing. "and how they are achieving it". I'm not sure which "party" you are referring to as a positive example but, again IMHO, I don't have confidence in either side seeking effective pathways to achieving their goals. 3rd thing. My statement was that I see (IMHO) Noah "is an intelligent man" not a "smart" man. This may be only semantics to some but there is a big difference between the two. I said he was intelligent because of his deductive reasoning, his insights and observations and the language he used to express himself. 4th thing. Your assumption of me "So you believe everything you hear?" - Is this a rhetorical question??
Im not telling you what you should believe you can be left, right or other as long as you know your side. People are not perfect so parties aren't perfect either, he might sound smart but he thinks that when Obama was president America was the land of gold now that Trump is president he now argues that America is going to hell, but if you still want youre rights then you best look at what they are willing to sacrifice. To give an example on how bad it is i was going to make a joke in text and the joke involved a gun look on how the left controls it 🔫, that is anti gun, they are involving politics in things that have nothing to do with it. Limiting my speech if you will
Blind Tactical Option 12375 can we have citations on those observations about Obama and Trump? I’m sure your intelligent enough to not pull facts out of your derrière, but to speak factually. I’ll be here in the comments waiting for your linked quotes. 🙅🏾♂️🙅🏾♂️🙅🏾♂️
Sobkou Look no further at 1:18 he says that the down side of America is Trump, and i suppose we can pretend that Obama didn't deport people so America "was" a happy place, Trump is deporting people so he must be a racist. In case you didn't notice i was giving a general idea on how people on the left seem to think not knowing that Obama did the same thing atleast for that
Even if I would have never heard of him, did not no his stand-up shows or tv show and just stumbled across this video by accident, Trevor would still be a joy to listen to! Much respect for this young brother. He is always on point in interviews.
Thanks why I'm a fan of Trevor Noah because he's funny, smart, sensible and in this interview he knows what he's saying and he seems fair to all colors of people and most of all just seems like a down to earth kinda guy. 😊👍👍
Chen Jacob Saying what Trump is doing e.g. spreading hate towards people oppose to his ideas is not saying bad. He supporting and abetting racism e.g. the Charlottesville incident isn't saying bad against him. People living just fine isn't because of Trump rather it's a continuation of the Obama policy he inherited. Nothing Trump has done to influence the living standards of the masses rather his policies are towards the rich getting richer. The poor struggle to live just fine.
Dave Schultz when it comes to Trevor Noah, he has complained about South Africa. He even wrote a book about his life and how being born mixed was a crime there (Born a Crime). He has also complimented the country by saying how more women are running for office, more youth is getting involved in politics, which is something so many people have said for many years should happen. Also, in this video he was speaking a bit about South Africa too. He was talking about Brexit and referencing UK corporations like Cambridge Analytica and how bad they are. I think he even spent more time on Teresa May, and blaming them for what all is happening in the world today. If you see that all they are doing is putting America down, then you didn't listen. If you are not listening to anything other than this video, then you don't know how much Trevor Noah has spoken about how bad things are all over, especially where he's from. Also, if you don't like the rest of the world judging America, then America should stop judging other countries. Trump has run down so many other countries, well, nearly every single country on the planet. If a president can do it, why would you even give a crap about a comedian from another country insulting America? Are you such a snowflake that you cannot handle a bit of criticism? Thank goodness you don't work for me because part of my job is to criticize. This is partially how people realize there is a problem and often times it takes outsiders to show you how things should be. Don't be so triggered and actually listen beyond the words you want to hear.
Joseph Mingle, I would like for you to please explain what you mean by Trevor Noah being a "scamster". I would also like to know what you mean by saying he's "one of them", like all of us should know what he is. Lastly, whatever you call him, whatever you say about him, what is your proof of it? It's one thing to call someone names and imply other things as we all have the freedom of speech, but if you want to sway minds, you aren't going to if all you do is call people names, or use them in some kind of sinister sentence which implies he's something of great importance, which could lead to something dangerous.
Jesters often were the only ones capable of speaking the truth to the powerful. Might explain why Democrats/Liberals tend to have a better grasp of comedy and truth.
Mark Keller Conservstives are bound by Rank, title or status. An imaginary honor system of intimidation and blind servitude and order of succession. Cult-like.
He’s very intelligent. You could tell by just listening to him talk like this or the behind the scenes on his show when they take a break. I am sure you’d also enjoy his book, Born a Crime. If you listen to the book on Audible, he narrates it himself, which is awesome.
I literally dreamt that Trevor Noah was an arse in real life last night, and I was bitterly disappointed because we have just bought tickets to his show. I was so sad.....Then I wake up to this, and I'm happy again. He's awesome 😄
J T SMITH Even if he did, Trump's teeth would be red from his retarded ass trying to suck the knowledge of a former president/ former senator/ former constitutional law professor from it.
He’s speaking such a profound truth, the belief in supremacy so deeply imbedded in the majority, and is never dealt with and therefore is never overcome. But it is blatantly on display during hard times.
I have only just discovered this beautiful man. He is so intelligent..so articulate and just a beautiful human being. I am catching up on all his interviews every spare minute I have. Blessings to you and your family Trevor. You are awesome
First CNN interview Ive seen that hasn’t been emotionally draining/or/ insufferable. Trevor has a beautiful mind and heart. I know you’ll never see this but thank you 🙏🏼 Blessings xx
Some in depth journalism about the contaminated water in the U.S. would be appreciated. In my state alone you could spend years investigating, warning the public and fighting the corporations stealing our natural resources.
Mark Keller--What happened at the contaminated water summit last week. See if you can find out from mainstream media outlets on RU-vid. Good luck getting any real information.
Mark Keller--Watch this then ask why the major news outlets are not covering the story in any depth: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JP6H-QWL0DI.html
