This might help some of you guys that want an R1 for just regular street riding. LMK in the comment what type of videos you'd like to see about this bike!
I've used my 2016 R1 as my daily for the last 4 years. I love it. Done over 30k and she still rips like she did when I first got her. If you're not fit, you'll find the aggressive seating position taxing on your body. So much so that most people would call it TOO aggressive. But hey, youre riding a street legal track machine so what did you expect? I've ridden sport bikes for going on 12 years now. If you can't stand the seating position, get your ass in the gym. Your riding triangle on this thing is so aggressive that when I ride my brother's R6 the seating position almost feels like I'm sitting straight up. Lol I've ridden this bike for hours at a time, regularly going up to Santa Barbara and Bakersfield from LA with no problems. I figure I've got a leg up on most riders though as my ass is made of iron by now. To answer your question, YES. The R1 is an awesome daily! It makes me smile every single time I ride it, and the sound it makes must be what heavenly choirs sound like. Even though I own 3 other bikes that would be much more "practical" I still ride my R1 every day. It's like riding an ICBM with turnsignals. The fact that it makes me feel like Valentino Rossi on the weekends is just a bonus. And btw I average about 30mpg on my regular commute. That's better mpg than my car! Your bike is a real beauty, I love the carbon you get on the R1M. Cheers m8!
I'm curious as to how tall each of you are. I'm 6ft and really considering an R1 but when sitting on it at the dealer i couldn't imagine putting hours of seat time in... Bikes feel much different while riding them over just sitting so I'm curious... For context, my last sportbike was 07 gsxr 600 and I would be wrecked at the end of a 2 1/2 hour ride to and from base on weekends. Rode that thing for a little over 5 years. Harley Davidson 48 was even worse somehow on longer treks.... Any thoughts and input are appreciated
Yea, compared to Ducatis,V4, R1 is better for daily commute. And what about fuel efficiency. It's weird to ask but still. Which is slightly better??😁. From India 🇮🇳❤️
I just got a Thunderace and was struggling after spending 3 years on a Virago 535, now i know it's something i have to get used to. The bike itself is like a gym, it's been easier and easier everytime i ride it. At first, i was getting mainly neck pain from always trying to loop straight forward, then i started getting used to look just enough so i can look forward with my eyes. I haven't worked out since covid started, but for some reason it doesn't hurt my back or arms, it's mainly my neck
Been trying to find someone talk about vibration on the R1. I think the Ducati 11/1299 series vibrates a lot. You need the comfort seat or the vibs are too much. Mine now is not bad, but I want smooth. No vibs in bars, pegs, seat, or mirrors. On 1299 you can’t tell the make of car cause mirrors are too blurry.
