Daimler Sovereign 4.2 Series III Automatic, Beautiful & Elegant (1983) Film Editor: Fabien Labonne Restoration Work: Sceptred Isle Classics Company (UK), Restoration of Classic, Vintage & Veteran Cars
Wonderful video, thank you. I had a red DS 4.2 in my early 20s in the early 80s (£800). Drove it all around the UK, a fortune in repairs but so many fantastic memories.
Hi there from Germany. I´m the owner of a ´96 Jaguar XJ 6 Sovereign 4.0 in silvergrey. I love the vehicle so much, but the Jag/DDS Series 3 is the most beautiful car ever in the world. Thanks so much for your work with the video and the music. It´s a great pleasure to watch it more and more. Everytime i have wet eyes. I needed 2 years to make it shine like a new car. Now the Jag is in a very good condition, like note 2+ or more. I hope, the DDS is still yours, keep it on. Greets from Germany.
Hi, what polishing did you do over the year you said it took you to get it to shine. I have just bought a 1998 XJ8 Sovereign and intend to keep the car in great condition.
I have had the privilege to own 4 Xj 6’s series 1,2and 3 and there is just no car on earth that has the feel and emotion and that gives you that smile when you play with the 4.2 xk engine she is a thing of beauty
I have a daimler xj40 1993. Best car ever. Im a britt and so is my car. People always comment on her. Which makes me proud... I use herbas my daily drive..
better than TOP GUN that was one of ther top maffia bosses had one of these and the CIA hid a bug in the middle air vent good story it was great video sir i want one now
My oh my, what a gorgeous Daimler showcased in a superb video. There is something uniquely special about Daimler / Jaguar cars that no other marque can capture. There are few experiences quite like rolling through the countryside in an old Skool Daimler / Jaguar.
I have got one of these and it is the 2001 version LWB. Best car I have ever driven and even at 11 years old, it is still jaw droppingly fabulous. It purrs like a big cat and moves grown men to tears when they look at the engine. It also p*sses them off at petrol stations when I get out of it (I'm female)...and even worse when my 27 year old daughter drives it! Fantastic boot for shopping, boy racers don't get a look in at traffic lights. 0-60 in 4 seconds and a UNION JACK badge smacked on it!
Thanks for posting this wonderful tribute to the Daimler Series III. I also have one, a 1986, and it is sublime, elegant and simply oozes character and charm. It is a car that requires the involvement of an enthusiastic owner, and if properly driven and maintained, is utterly reliable. There is nothing quite like it.
What a beautiful car and great video. I just picked up 1982 Daimler Sovereign which is in remarkably good condition for it's age, but could do with some slight touching up. Your gorgeous auto gives me something to work towards. If I could suggest something, though, and that would be to show the engine bay. No doubt the engine looks as good as the rest of the car.
my father is thinking of buying one here advertised in H.Bay New Zealand, it's a private sale through a independant trade/buy/sale booklet that comes out every week, does anyone have an estimate on what they are worth ?
You got better interior trim too, and one or two items like air con. which was an optional extra on a Jag (in the UK at least) as standard. The Daimlers were top of the range and cost more and some folks would pay more for the badge and the exclusivity. Otherwise they were substantially the same car.
