Yes finally a recipe that i really want to try, im not vegan, but im lactose intolerant and i love ice cream but my stomach dies and i just dont feel well. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!
Ana Ponce hey! I'm not fully vegan either (I have too many deficiencies and my dietician basically told me I'd be on 21 prescription drugs a day if I was) but I have a life-threatening milk allergy so that's why I'm here too!
Raven-Ivy Destiny I would recommend a second opinion at a different dietician of you want to go vegan. sorry if this comes out the wrong way, you can do what you want but if you want to be vegan, I'm sure it's possible. most nutrients are covered in a whole food plant based diet, but a lot of dieticians don't know this and are scared of Veganism because of people who don't research and then come to their office complaining they dont feel wel. if you would tell me your deficiencys I will help you look for solutions. But if you're seriously ill you'll still need to take my recommendations to a dietician first before trying. dont want you to become sick
N. E thank you so much! My main difficiencies are Vitamin D (my level is 39 and it should be 150 and that is whilst I'm talking the strongest vitamin they can prescribe) and vitamin B2 (I'm not sure if my levels on that but I am already taking prescription supplements) I'm also Anemic. All my deficiencies are pretty bad but I would be incredibly grateful for any suggestions x
Raven-Ivy Destiny np, im glad to help :) iron is available in abondance in many vegan foods. Spinach, oats, nuts, beans (especially soy), collar greens etc. The thing is, you'll need to avoid caffeine drinks since this will lead to a iron deficiency. Non heme iron (iron from plants) is not taken in by our bodies while combined with caffeine. Since going vegan, my iron levels actually increased because of all the leafy greens :) Mushrooms, spinach, sesame seeds, almonds, peanuts etc are great sources of b2. Vitamin D is much harder. I'll advise you to go out in nature when you can, getting that lovely sunlight. Mushrooms also contain vitamin D but if your that much deficient, I would advise you to take injections instead of oral supplementation. This will be the most effective way and for some people the only way since their body's can't take in the vitamin properly. So basically, mushrooms, nuts and leafy greens are mandatory. Flax seeds also contain a lot of Omega 3 (actually a precursor to Omega 3) and lots of iron and b2. I crush up flax seeds every morning and pour into my oatmeal. :) And if you really can't go vegan, don't worry and don't be hard on yourself. The fact that your willing to try it and inform yourself shows you're a wonderful person. Hope this helps a bit. Merry Christmas!
well there is tons of foods that I love that are hard to veganize, I love raw beef, fish sashimi, cheese curds, salted portk fat and I don't like icecream much
Oeh! Could you possibly make a mint chocolate chip one? Mint chocolate chip is my all-time favorite ice cream flavor, so I'd be super happy if you showed everyone how to make it!
You could try taking the same base and adding peppermint extract and chocolate shavings :) If you have fresh mint leaves, try adding those crushed up as well to give a pop of green and some freshness. Improvise!
You could blend fresh mint leaves with the coconut milk before you cook it down, or add leaves to it when you cooking it down towards the end and then strain/take out the leaves. You could use peppermint extract as well, but the fresh leaves taste great.
Amethyst SF peaceful cuisine the RU-vid channel made a mint chocolate chip ice cream recipe, and it is seriously the best. I learned so much about vegan cooking from his videos I highly recommend you have a look 😊
I'm lactos intolerant so i made these nice creams, strawberry short cake and the oreo mix, and omg!! its absolutely delicious! i was very impressed as it rocked so much harder than some vegan ice cream i bought at a vegan food stall once.. like so much better 👌 thank you so much 💛
I agree! The oreo one was way better than store-bought ice creams for me! I also have never seen a vegan cookies and cream in store so I love that I can make my own! Thanks for the lovely comment
Im lactose intolerant too. I could in theory be able to digest goat milk (it's more digestable, and alot of "lactose intolerant" people can actually consume it). Problem. I don't have a goat. Yet. I love vegan ice cream. Imo, tastes better to me lol. I prefer the banana taste, but I'll probably try this sometime.
naty-naty chan they aren't actually vegan friendly because it even states that it may contain milk because of cross contamination and in some regions Oreos are not vegan at all.
As a vegan, I don't mind the "may contain...." labels. Most vegan products are made in factories that make non-vegan products. So its extremely difficult to avoid. If the ingredients do not directly have milk and eggs, then thats all that really matters.
I was just sharing it because many vegans do mind if it might have cross contamination. My best friend is vegan and she won't eat or use brands that aren't 100% vegan and that warning of may contain milk or egg is enough to make her swear off on them.
Oriana Waldren pretty good actually, but I made it to dence and need to fluf it up more next time. I also need to add a little more vanilla extract to reduce crystalization. When making it, make sure you dont poor the sugar mixture in as a whole, but test how much you'll need since the amount of creme you'll have will depend on the brand you use. That way, you avoid buying a ton of cans more to compensate like me and still have icecream left in the freezer haha
I made the strawberry coconut ice cream and it turned out beautifully. It is delicious! I will be serving it for lunch tomorrow for my out of town friends. Thanks!
For anyone planning to recreate this who isn't really experienced when it comes to working with coconuts: Yes, you can totally overwhip coconut cream! I myself have just turned three cans of coconut milk and two days of preparation time into sweetened coconut butter. (which is still yummy af so I ain't complainin.. just obviously not what anyone recreating this recipe is aiming for) Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes. English is not my first language.
I don't see any grammatical errors. Thanks fir the info tho cx Although I probably wouldn't overwhip any sort of cream... But there still are some other people who struggle when whipping cream lol
Protip: Leaving the cans of coconut milk in the fridge for longer than overnight turns the entire can of milk into cream. I used the same brand and when I left mine for about 4 days I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no water, only a full can of cream
@@TheDreamcatcher6 I study at the university in Jamaica and Grace is a Jamaican brand so it's very easy to find here. If you're from the States you should be able to get it at your nearest grocery but if it's hard to find try a Caribbean supermarket or a supermarket with a good Caribbean section.
@@TheDreamcatcher6 Thanks!... I was honestly cringing at the idea of buying so much and using so little... I hope she sees this because it's an amazing tip
Coconut cream separates much like coconut milk. Plus it definitely tastes more like coconut, it's a lot sweeter. Although I do love eating coconut cream out the can, it's so good!
I swirled in tofutti cream cheese and melted chocolate w vegan butter and coconut milk - then swirled that through. It was so tasty from the cream cheese
any ideas for a sugar alternative for this recipe? i usually use stevia to keep my sweets as close to sugar-free as possible, but it's not great about melting so i worry about it affecting the texture
Oh thank you! I'm highly allergic to milk, which started my journey of transitioning to veganism. I am still transitioning, eggs fish being the hardest to stay away from. This looks gorgeous so I will definitely be interested in making the strawberry and chocolate.
Okay I am obsessed with your videos, the quality/editing is amazing. I tried making vegan icecream ages ago but failed so bad, can't wait to give this a go!!!!
I'm sorry this is an old comment but I made vegan ice cream with unsweetened coconut milk, a bit of sugar, cocoa powder and a splash of vanilla extract and I couldn't taste the coconut at all, and I'm not a fan of coconut either :) it was a little on the icy side but it was still really good and super easy, all you have to do is mix it together and freeze it
🆕 subbie here! Ohhhh it looks so good! It's such a relief to see ice cream made out of something other than 🍌. I eat them but hate them mixed in anything else. So glad to have an alternative! 🍦🍰🍫🍪🚫🍌 👍 😍
Yeah, I make mango, rasberry, and strawberry sorbet all the time, but it does not have the traditional "milk" ice cream taste. That's what I'm missing. +Kalina Nelson :)
i like when it gets crystallized, at baskin robbins they do that sometimes, like when im eating the ice cream you get bits that are crunchy and its so delicious! but i have got to try this out, sounds and looks amazing!
Thank you so much. I’m allergic to milk and if I eat or drink it, I will LITERALLY DIE! All of my friends are always talking about how good the fudge Sunday they had was so good. While I wish I can tell them the FUDGE OFF😂😂😂 Thank you very much. Now I can eat a cold treat that won’t kill me unless I got to the emergency room in under 30 seconds :3
Flip your can upsidedown in the refrigerator. Open it from the bottom the next day. The water will be on top. Pour into container. The cream will be divided automatically.
Thank you for sharing I never thought I would need this recipe until my toddler requested for ice cream and she doesn’t go well with milk here I am looking for dairy free ice cream
I am gonna make this tomorrow but using strawberry and blueberry as the flavours. Might try just the juice because I'm not a huge fan of chunks but I'll make sure I put in some vanilla.
Hey Liv B. Is it possible to use coconut cream instead of coconut milk? The cream is just as thick as the milk but without the liquid part... so it has more volume.
I like your recipe, the way you presented it, and for including the written recipe! I don't use sugar. What types of sweetener ingredients can I use to replace sugar in this recipe? If I don't use any sweeteners can I use fruit instead?
I'll definitely give it a try! ;) tbh I thought about it but I was kinda hesitant since I had failed a few times trying to bake with xylitol because it didn't react well with the yeast...
+LA NE i baked f.e bean brownies with it, hadn't had any problems with it ever! although I don't use yeast ... ;) it should be just fine here. another option is coconut sugar!
Can you mix it with a whisk I really need to know now because I'm about to go with my mom to the store and she needs to know sorry I don't mean to rude but I just need to know(for the base of the ice cream( fluffy part
Thank you so much for making this video ever scince I was born I was lactose intolerant and I always wondered how ice cream 🍨 tasted like but thanks to u I finally got that nice and cold and sweet ice in my mouth thank you so much liv B
I really can't notice it that much, especially in the cookies and cream flavour. My dad is super sensitive to coconut and he could notice it a bit but he said it wasn't bad. And he normally hates coconut hahaha. I think it depends on the brand of coconut milk too. Some that I buy smell SO strong even I hate them. But this one I used is very mild :)
Greetings, I've started my hand at homemade vegan ice cream about 3 years now. Overall, I would give myself a grade of 70-75% out of 100% on ice cream making skill level. Just when It seemed like I "perfected" the recipe, things started going south on me and I've spent the last 6 months or so trying to figure it out--hence th 70-75% grade. While I'm trying to figure it out, I still keep an eye open for new or fresh ways for making vegan ice cream. The method that you reveal in this video causes me to ask you a couple of questions: 1) Doesn't all of your ice cream taste like coconut regardless of what flavors you use? 2) How in the world do you get your coconut milk to cream like THAT on the top?? The reason I don't do coconut based ice creams recipes--I do soy milk--is because whenever I made coconut based ice creams, they always tasted like conut regardless of the flavor and whenever I refrigerated my coconut milk or cream, it never gets thick on top as the RU-vid videos, LOL! Anyway, I took the time to write all of this to you because I looking to see if there is new or fresh info on this topic that I haven't already heard before. Thank you for your listening.
Is there a substitute for the vanilla extract to make the ice cream taste not just like coconut? My son is allergic Please answer and pin this! It would mean a lot
This looks amazing and I will definitely try it out this weekend. I have just one question: what kind of sugar did you use? And what kind of sugar can you use And also is the coconut flavor very dominant? Thank you for these recipes and I would love an answer😃😍
I messed up so bad, it was too liquidity . currently freezing it. (I don't have a mixer like that and I think I put some of the water in it) #$h*tchiefvegan cx update: turned out delicious I made the cookies and cream one. you can barely taste the coconut which is great 😋 thank you for this 💞
Hi, Thanks so much for this recipe. I am Lactose intolerant but love ice cream which I can't eat because it makes me so sick. Can this be made with a hand mixer? I drink coconut milk a lot and love it. Never thought of making ice cream with it though. LOL
Ethaperia Falanthis i personally find that adding other ingredients masks the taste of coconut mostly, but if you really don't like the taste of coconut it might still come through a bit 😊
I really hope someone responds. I accidentally left my coconut milk a little too long and it turned a little brown. It wasn’t completely brown but a very light brown. Will I have to redo it or will it still work?
