Had their cocobongo coconut coferment a few months ago. Flavor is really interesting but too strong for daily drinking . Ended up blending it at home with a mango coferment from Nomad, which was also a bit too mango forward. So i ended up with a coffee that tasted like a coconut mango thai dessert which was fun.
My recent experience with Dak is that yesterday I found a multi-roaster (Bad Mother) in the Tampa Bay area that sold it!! That is a big deal for Florida which has been pretty bleak specialty coffee wise. They told me soon they will soon also selling Manhattan.
A step in the right direction. Have always given them big credit for making themselves so accessible to many. Seems like they're still improving on it too. Hopefully you'll get some great Dutch experiences between them and Manhattan!
Having a weird experience with the German Peña washed pink bourbon from Flower Child and thought i’d let you know in case you were considering picking it up. so far it’s a standard light coffee with a very one-note citrusy flavor profile that i think is worth skipping in favor of another one of their offerings. it’s not very sweet, and it has a slightly tannic finish that I’ve tried to minimize by lowering temp and a coarser grind but no luck. It’s only been 9 days off roast, so it might improve a bit with time, but so far it’s the least impressive coffee I’ve tried from flower child.
I appreciate the info Nico. While it wasn't on our radar at the moment, Flower Child is always a place we do keep an eye on in general. Feel free to keep us updated on it in case things change as well 🙂
Feel like Sey is one of the ones that have done well with that over the years.....can't think of many others that consistently hit that mark (though, admittedly, it's not what we go for)
I really liked Peach Slap, can’t say the same for candy crush, watermelon drops and grenadine. Those smelled alcoholic and way too artificial for me. This was lovely though.
Watermelon Drops was just awful imo, haha. I had a pretty nice natural Ethiopian from them but ever since getting Watermelon Drops and some other natural that was way too boozy I'm scared to have anything other than washed coffees from Dak x)
Went through the same thing with "Watermelon Sugar" a few years ago....it actually has gotten to the point that we avoid any non-washed coffee that has watermelon on it 😅
