While the 2024 NFL Draft is approaching quickly, another offseason story focuses on Dak Prescott's contract situation as he enters the final year of his current deal. Prescott was asked about his interest in becoming the highest-paid QB and said quote: "No, I'm not trying to be the highest paid necessarily. Shady be talking like he is Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith or one of all time great running backs. He was average at best 63 yards per game for his career. Philly all time leading rusher isn’t saying much since they really haven’t had great running backs. He needs to have a little humility since he was traded by the Eagles for Demarko Murray. Shady got it wrong to say Dak should holdout. If he sits out, he doesnt get paid this year, gets fined $50k a day and most importantly doesnt become a free agent next year. Per standard NFL contract, a player who has one year left under contract will not be a free agent the following year if he retires or refuses to play because of a dispute with the club. Dallas has the leverage when it comes to Dak playing this year.

There are big benefits to being the QB of the Cowboys that go beyond their playing days. Tony Romo never went to any championship games except as a guest or commenter but big part of the reason he got his gig on CBS is because of being the Cowboys QB for years. Joy and James both know the QB market is different from other NFL players plus Dak has already been the highest paid at his position at one time and this would be his 2nd big contract. Unless he falls off the map does anyone honestly think he's going to make less than $42 to $45 million a year for his next contract? Anyone? Cousins coming off an Achilles injury at 35yrs old signed a 4yr/$180 million. Dak is 5 years younger with a better record. If the Cowboys won't pay him someone will. He doesn't have to play the "bad" guy in order to get his next bag.

If they pay him the money his agent is asking, it will pretty much ruin the ability for them to secure other stars on that team. Maybe it’s time to find out if Trey Lance can play at a level to where they can win with him. It would allow them to stay under the salary cap and have a young QB locked up for an affordable contract.

The players they are talking about getting paid all showed up in the playoffs. Donald was a main reason his team won a ring. Jones helped the Chiefs wins a ring. You know JJ Watt is showing up no matter what. Dak does not show up, never has. NEVER. NOT ONCE. The Cowboys could have drafted Jordan Travis in the 5th round. The Cowboys could have drafted Michael Pratt in the 7th round. Maybe they work out maybe they don't, but to not draft anyone is crazy. You should pick a qb every year no matter who you are. That is how the 49ers got Purdy. Dak was a 4th round pick himself.

Sadie is Hating. I am not a Dak fan matter fact I hate the Cowboys, but yeah you cannot compare the rest of the league to the quarterback market. As long as Dak can stand upright. He’s gonna get paid and paid at the top of the market. he’s easily top 15 quarterback, arguably top 10 depending on who you talk to 2nd N MVP voting ,no they are not a lot of options. Better than DAK. especially at his age! How many teams are there? Think they’re just a quarterback away from making a legitimate run at the Super Bowl they would take Dak in a heartbeat.

Kirk Cousins has never reset the QB market and has never asked top-dollar. TBH, I don't think the Vikings or Falcons or Commanders have ever paid him as upper echelon QB. Dak supposedly wants to reset the market and he hasn't "earned" that. HE's got his bag. I know another team will pay him but I wouldnt' blame the Cowboys if they don't want to pay him for 4-5 more years if they don't think he's the guy to take them to the Super Bowl.

LeSean thinks yelling, talking fast makes him correct. Joy laughs so hard at him and Acho long winded diatribes. Can we just get a Joy and James Show. Watch the ratings go through the roof. Broncos, Raiders, Jets, Giants, Steelers, Vikings could all be in the market for a QB next year. Even if Dak got hurt they’d all give him 40+ million a year for 3+ years easily. Teams always need QB. There’s always a team desperate enough to pay a QB.
