Don't forget that screenplay for Moneyball was not only written by Sorkin, it was written by Steven Zaillian & Aaron Sorkin. There's no going wrong when both of those guys are writing the screenplay.
Can someone please tell me what happened in "Madame Web" between the time she arrived at the Peruvian cave and the time she drove an ambulance through a billboard? I fell asleep.
Love Gabe's Prisoners/Arrival connection. I'll take it a step further and say Villeneuve's film prior to Prisoners, INCENDIES, is "the pain children can put on their parents." Just now blown away by this unofficial trilogy lol. Incendies is still his best work, in my opinion.
Daaaamn, gonna re-watching the Prisoners for the umpteenth time tonight! Detective Loki could have a sequel - absolutely my fave performance of Jake Gyllenhaal.
For me, hands down the worst comic book movie is Venom. I had high hopes for the movie but was very disappointed with the movie. The editing, script, and acting were awful. Madame Web also looks terrible
Great points from you guys respecting the filmmakers even though the movie is shit. However, it hardly happens that all 3 of you are so negative on something. Don't you want to discuss that in the interview about where the mismatch is? Because listening to the interview, it feels like she made a completely different movie and what's on screen is not measuring up with what she's saying in any way.
This is such an awful thing to say particularly on the episode in which you interviewed the director of this film however, the solution to Sean's point at around the 56:00 mark is simply to not support this kind of movie in any way. Like it really can be as simple as that sometimes guys, if we don't want this generic slop that Sony wants to feed us and call it gourmet, don't buy it 🤷♂ If we want to see more mid-budget thrillers and comedies be made, go spend your hard earned dollars on Anyone But You or Drive Away Dolls and not Madame Web cos all the suits at Sony will do is keep making more of this garbage
Early and very bold prediction Madame Web will cost Sean the Film Draft win! I know it’s out there and that twisters and not just one but both of the Horizon Saga’s are in his list, but I fear nae I state those films will not recover the 13% critic score… feel free to hate on me in the comments
Speaking of Moneyball, what the hell happened to Bennett Miller??? Every movie he has directed...this/Capote and Foxcatcher, all great. He's done nothing since.
Do the Fast & Furious movies count as superhero movies at this point? If so Fast X was like pouring acid in my eyeballs, if not then it has to be Black Adam for me. Like you guys were saying, a lot of talented people work behind the scenes to make movies, but the result was still awful. I haven't watched any of the Sony spider fanfic movies except for Venom, that movie was also so bad I just divorced myself from that studio.
The second half of Black Adam was pretty good. Decent twist with Dr Fate (movie trope would make you think what happened to him would have happened to Hawkman instead)
If I didn't have food coming, I would have left my cinema. 100% agree with everything you all said about this. Having watched Anyone but You about a month ago with Sydney talking about becoming a lawyer, and now she's playing a teenager 😅 It's a shame because SJ seems like a really cool person. It makes you wonder that if a movie this bad can be released...how fuckin bad must have Batgirl been?!?!
She made for a terrific interview! Making a movie is impossible. Making a good one is even harder. Just because a movie doesn’t work, doesn’t mean it wasn’t made by interesting, talented people with a wealth of information and stories to share. Many of our best interviews happened after watching a film we didn’t care for.
The fact that they didn't enjoy the movie doesn't mean that they didn't have genuine interest in the process of how it was made, appreciate how it was made, and appreciate the people who made it.
