Dal Bhat (दालभात) is one of the most common staple meals to eat in Nepal. A Nepali dal bhat meal normally includes rice, dal soup, vegetables, achar chili sauce, and the choice of other side dishes like chicken curry, eggs, chickpeas, or other meat curries. Dal bhat is delicious and filling!
Because, he's not truthful. When you yourself are not truthful, then you can not be truthful to the viewer. That is the biggest difference between Mark and someone like Anthony Bourdain.
My family and I went trekking a few weeks ago near Kathmandu; the scenery and food was gorgeous. Much like the Dal Bhat, we really enjoyed the traditional home-cooked food in the village restaurants near Nargarkot and Kathmandu mountains (trekking path). Sometimes the Dal that we were served was actually pretty thick and spicy! (love it that way too!)
+Rux By Thick and Spicy Daal = Thats called a 'tadka' or 'tadka wala daal'. Best served with Rotis actually. Make some buttered paranthas with spiced thickened yellow daal. You wont want to go back to normal daal. Ofcourse a little 'bhaat' (rice) on the side just adds to the flavor too. Soak it with the thickened daal and consume. To add some more flavor, eat this with spiced dried mango pickle. It is also a good idea to eat fried cauliflower with potatoes in this dish.
Siddhant Rimal you r not correct. We do eat thick daal and spiced daal sometime called daal fry or jhaneko daal. Daal tadka is different thing not served in those places.
Idk why everyone is complaining about eating with hands. Its their tradition, and traveling is about new experiences and amercing yourself in the culture. I think it looks like a great experience :)

Hey Mark, thanks for uploading a video on this motherly cooked recipe. I am from Kolkata, India and we generally depend on "Daal bhat" and fish curry on a daily basis. I really appreciate your efforts on taking our food culture on such a great platform.
Hey, I have a pretty high tolerance for chilies and everything spicy, so I've never had cooked food that was too much for me. Depending on the cuisine though, lots of times you can just add chili on the side, for instance Nepali food wasn't very spicy, but they always had some chili sauce and fresh chillies on the side.
Wow man. You learn how to eat like native. It just so natural how you eat. In Bangladesh we also say Dal Vhat. It's also our traditional food like Napal.

i started following Mark after watching these Nepal videos. He was hardly famous then, but man look at him now... 3.4m followers and still going strong.... i wonder if he still remembers me and my comment regarding his shades:D
Nice! Reminds me of awesome time in Nepal. Also, it is very strange, because all nepali I met was vegetarian. And finding dal bhat with meat/chicken is super rare, but good :)
Whenever I am sick or don’t have any appetite I watch this video. I am a Nepali and my food is similar to the video and so it truly helps by his reaction after eating that tomato chilli achar (sauce). I have watched this video multiple times and every now and then I come here to watch his reaction which puts a smile in my face.
Nepal have diverse range of foods this one is the most basic food of the Nepalese - literally - for the daily lives And it makes it perfect because of the combination
Maasu is literally meat in Nepali and not just chicken..Its applicable for all..the best thing about having rice everyday is that it is easily digestable..
