Dalai Lama Stages of Meditation 

Translation (from my pov) for those who have trouble with his English: We can change the way we see and experience reality, for the better. One way to do this, is to first be open to the idea of change by having an open mind to the fact that there are many ways of looking at things. Being open to experiencing and hearing all that is around us is better than ignoring things in preference of having one specific focus/story/belief. Change and transformation are intrinsic to nature, as well. He actually offers a sort of proof of this with his analogy of the calendar - which breaks down infinitely, until the point where we realize change happens so constantly and instantaneously that it IS nature (this has been looked at in Western math and Science via Physics and Math in the form of the study of infinitesimals (Gödel, etc.). Conclusion: If we hold only one viewpoint, we deny reality and nature - we bring suffering upon ourselves because we live in a vacuum. We become attached. Attachment is the cause of suffering. Just my 2 cents.

In this video HH Dalai lama is not talking about "stages" of meditation, i think its title should be updated.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama comes on this planet for every sentient being and many persons don’t understand English. A lot of people would like to understand and put into practice what His Holiness says. Thank you so much to translate in other languages His Holiness teachings.

Sense - i fully agree with you. We need to have mutual respect. Buddha gave 84000 ways to reach Enlightenment. One way is not a better way but a different way. If we stop criticising each other and be constructive and compassionate, we can achieve inner and outer peace.

i woudl like to ask a question /i was doing some reading of things many things that agree with Teachings of Jesus . and i see today the one sentence of love then the absence of judgement comes this is truth . but from the words from a teacher called Budha .and i was also looikng for many diferent teachings of how creation was recored by other spiritual belifes as well as Genisis.seems the searding for Gods kindom is part of the walk of life. but i did try the meditation and the book Za Zen was reading was all i did go by and it told of how to practice an sit in position an all on safoe and i even had to look up definition of the custion to sit on . i did practice this meditation to an extent and loo out and in and cross eyss and all well i wonder after the fact of many years could it have a result of bad things in navel area to come about if did wrong in any area. i did find that througth it i found my mind and where and how to yet i found it a good way to pray as well.st to be comical at one point i began to study my mind and probly would have took in hand and done just that take it out an play with it ans wee what it is all about it is ok to laugh .i have found though thought many answers and a great way to lurn of Jesus and Budha and Native Americans and all to others even to greek and other belifes at one time how they have in common a serpent in them as well as leproecones and fairys have serpent an it seems to be same out of guarden of eden.consitant of the same manuvers as he most well could comare with a drug pusher at one point and other things as scam artist as well.in all negative ways he works same scam on all even in as straw dogs and unvertue work n asisn coundtries many centurys ago same happen in other than asian countries it comes about in gog and maygog and the one in old testimanet as well ball the one who is a devil well all are of them for the well GOd does not like them/ i see that the movement they bring is same as out of the gaurden and same serpent .and yet there is a good news there is truly GOd the creater. the father.one who is and resides int the firmametn of heaven ....this one is all of ours most fair an love and verue are his way and he be the door and the way of Leo Tzu is also the way of verutue and he seems to say in hs book of accounts that the most powerful is verute no greater and he teaches a a commandmetn and aslo adds love later when he was alive on earth and then resurected and lived forty more on earth and then assendended to heaven an will come back the same way east to west as lightning shines . somewhere peace will be found for all of us i feel have a great day for i think i willl listne to good teachengs and by the way when all an all happend back when kingoms were lost such as confusiouse taught an Leo Tzu tauht probly when comunisum came to that area ans natsie came to areas of world but not asia as i see the truth as i see but maunuver of it was same as verue and non verute makes a country strong or not strong .and teaacing of sorts seem to scream GOd loves all and his son no different. but and i suffer sometimes yet i am battleing a serpent and always my lord comes an helps to point saved and safe in mental world anyhow i am now seventy three and i do be female and do love GOd an his wonderful world of creation . please know i am not at war with people just a serpent .if you can get passed my awful spelling good luck love billie how wonderful for GOd the father to reach us in days we surley do need /

The story was reported in the Phoenix and Scottsdale (Arizona) newspapers, that some Tibetan Buddhist monks asked which hotel room the Dalai Lama had stayed in. When asked why by the concierge, the monks said, "So we can drink from his holy toilet bowl." You might google search the complete story. Strange but true!

Tibetan Buddhists may say one thing, but their actions reveal their true beliefs. Example: The Tibetan buddhist monks who travel the world, blowing long trumpets and wearing yellow rooster hats. When they arrived at their luxury hotel in Scottsdale AZ, they asked which one of those luxury hotel rooms had housed their leader, the Dolly Lama (aka dalai lama). When asked why, they said, "So we can drink from his toilet bowl." This was reported in the Scottsdale and Phoenix newspapers!

I find it kind of strange that he sells DVD's, and uses an echo on the microphone. Besides all of this, I like his style because it's practical and can be used in day to day life.

@kidsinasandb0x yes..youve heard of his "lost years" i guess is what people call it. it is the timespan between his birth and when he started teaching. he was in Lhasa, Tibet. he was written and described by monks as St. Issa. theres a good bit on the internet about it. Jesus lived his life as a Buddhist a good Jew a good Christian a good Islamic. they are all one in the same. one God.

the best way to choose a religion is find out the truth in all the wordly religions and go from there. each one has dogma and you have to filter that out. Buddhism is one of the better ones peace

They weren't just any Tibetan monks who wanted to drink from the Dolly lama's toilet bowl. They were Tibetan monk musicians who blow long trumpets and wear the big yellow rooster hats on top of their heads. They represent the best music and the highest ideals of Tibetan Buddhism, the goal that all Buddhists should strive for - drinking from a toilet bowl like dogs! LOL

I read a true story about a reporter who visited the Dolly Lama. He found the Dolly was looking at and playing with a small digital watch, totally fascinated by its construction and operation. Right there is the difference. The allegedly smartest and most brilliant man in Buddhism is totally amazed and awestruck by one of the most simple inventions of Western science. I refuse to worship him or his failed god.

@joscofe: Christianity today is secular anyway, because most of that stuff is not spiritual and has taken the word of God COMPLETELY out of context and tries to intellectualize it, IMPOSSIBLE. so called Christianity professes a trinity when i can disprove that doctrine with scriptures such as: 1 Tim 3:16, Isaiah 9:16, Isaiah 43:10, and too many to mention. So called Christianity believes that you can live any old way you want, but still say you love JESUS.
