If you are a beginner then perhaps the best thing you could do is listen to the caveat at the start then ignore the rest of the video. These are generalisations and you cannot experience generalisations you can only have your specific experiences. Learn to meditate. Please don't try to understand Sanskrit words. Having an absence of concepts is a gift not a burden. You are much more likely to drop deep in meditation if you don't treat it like a school curriculum. Have the experience and then maybe read about it later and laugh when you realise there is a word trying to represent that experience. Experiencing reality through the filter of concepts is suffering. “In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind there are few.” - Shunryū Suzuki. No disrespect is intended to Ben. Thank you Ben for promoting meditation practice. I appreciate that you were offering a sincere reply to a valid question.

Good video! Might have been helpful to start of by citing your source - the yoga sutras by Patanjaji and describing the 8 steps. Do keep up with your channel and continue spreading the knowledge on the age-old science of Self-realization

Ben :), how does that relate to the above of your explanation: By insulating yourself in Dharana you accumulate energy Till the moment your energy start searching for manifestation outside. And then Dhyana comes once you see outside a symbol - all of your energy merges with the symbol in search for realization. You may get in awe of astonishment seeing unfolding everything of what you could possibly search of as answers. And knowing by seeing how everything created by, is energy. And what about Samadhi? Is that the state when we merge with the all becoming All in its completeness, which basically also means you forget your own existence and falling and returning back. Though, my comment here - I really don't want to put you in a whatever religion or old teachings interpretation. I very like your clean approach of sharing. And the steps you explain in easy verbal communication that you share Keep it in such way :) Just wanted to give my 10 cents by pointing out that Dharana--Dhyana-Samadhi is not just something for people to take a rest for. Meditation is the harnessing of you own energy, body energy that could make you do miracles. Real miracles because with meditation you don't become anyone else, but the best possible version of yourself. So successful that you can only say - it's a miracle :)

Hi Ben, I’ve been meditating with and without breathwork for almost a year now. I’m one of those “quick” awakening persons. I had what I believe was a NDE and woke up with a whole new outlook on life. My question is about “deep meditation”. I have started to get the feeling of drifting off into dreams, like I’m falling asleep while meditating. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to let that happen but I have been stopping the sleep/dream state from happening. My question is, am I getting ready to start receiving messages when this happens? Should I let the dreams come?? Note that this is during Daytime meditation 🧘‍♀️.

Just started candle gazing, what should I expect to get out of it as I go along? At the momment it just makes me sleepy.if I just keep gazing at the candle, will I naturally over time go through the stages. Or do I need to put more effort into clearing my mind? Really focusing on candle?

Noticing that problems invite solutions it is here now that an ongoing sticking point has been a Dupytren's contracture condition that has made preventing fingers from touching while in a nadis postion very challenging to not good ( right beside impossible ) and certainly distracting . So it finally occurred to try insulating the finger circuits by weaving any non conductive material between the fingers . So far it seems to make sense . Any suggestions or observations would be appreciated .

When I mediate usually 20 - 30 min a day, I have no pictures in the mind it’s just nothingness. Is this normal?

Have you ever daydreamed? That’s what it’s like to start meditating. You can feel your mind relax and think of nothing.

But in daydreaming you dont think of nothing do you? You think of the objects in your dream. You are absorbed and identified with them. Daydreaming is an involuntary process and comes from simple indulgence which is the opposite of meditation. Meditation is a voluntary effort. Daydreaming can never lead to meditation but to more "sleep". Anyone can daydream, but not anyone can meditate.
