Gary and Peter discuss the trip to DEI to film the racing legends' classic car collection with Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. for season 2 of Dream Car Garage.
The guys add their commentary to segments where Dale Earnhardt Sr talks about his 1957 Chevy, as well as his 2001 Corvette C5R that he and JR raced together at Daytona 24 hours in 2001.
Dream Car Garage segment where Peter steals Dale Jr’s 8 Budweiser cup car and gets arrested by the Mooresville police.
Peter and Gary comment on how impressive the DEI ( Dale Earnhardt Incorported) shop was and how it influenced Peter when building Legendary Motorcar Company.

Couldn't agree more, for a car guy at that time Dream Car Garage was the best produced car show at the time, Tom's humor and Gary's pickin on made for a good chuckle. And to visit Dale Sr, who himself was a funny guy when he wanted to be. Great TV back then. Appreciate your podcast bringing back some good memories for sure.

The crazy thing about Dale is he crossed all cultural boundaries and became an American icon. Everyone everywhere loved his personality and to this day, “Do it for Dale” is on par with yelling “Kobe” or “Like Mike” before a full send. Thanks for posting this

I was never a big NASCAR fan. But I was a big Earnhardt fan. I remember being a kid flipping through the channels and seeing a black car roaring around the track with the rest following. I don't know how much of the race i saw, but i saw him win. After that I watched him every chance I got. After he died, i never watched another NASCAR race. He was the only reason i ever watched. I had shirts, scale cars, model cars, posters, hats, and a lot of other stuff with the black #3 car. Still have most of it. This was a great interview. I would love to see the never before seen footage. Dale was just a genuine man. He's still missed

What sports is, but on that Feb day. I cried just like the one's who had cheered him on so many years. I knew what we had lost, just didn't realize how much I cared until then. I don't think Dale knew he was good at TV. Dale would have been good to have around in NASCAR as an owner or even in the NASCAR office which I think is where Dale would have ended up. I think Dale would have stayed around the sport even when he quit driving. Dale once answered a question about "if you weren't a racecar driver what would you be?" Dale said "I would be a racecar driver, this is my life".

Thank you for your podcast. I want you to know something when I got to meet him in 1999 at Rockingham North Carolina. I shook his hand Danny chocolate Myers was his was his I think crew chief, but then also I think it was his cousin but also, I think that was the gas guy, and then I saw Richard Childress. He was standing there. We got to go in pits and then we all were in the tower in Rockingham course you know people don’t know they’re making a come back with Rockingham. Somebody spent $38 million rebuilding the race track and that’s what I Gotta do at least two or 3 million for the race itself one of my friends, Danielle Jodway she was the banker for Dale Earnhardt and he used to go to a lot of banks I guess in North Carolina I think it was in Statesville, North Carolina, and I didn’t realize the race and then there are race shops too and her was one of my favorite favorite drivers for a long time when he passed away you know it’s just when he died it’s it’s hard on me because my father passed away at 49 and I know my father was born 1941, 1991 and he was born 1951 to 2001 and be 49 years old well that’s early 50s so that was a very special time for me goes to my father. He passed away March 13, 1991 and my mom passed away 1998 and then 2011 I lost my sister and I it’s like it’s a bit of your history. That’s my history his racing in my and my parents. and my parents very special people and Dale Earnhardt was one of my very special people. I didn’t know him all the way, but I have so much memorabilia with him. I would like would’ve loved to had his autograph. I got a friend that’s got an authenticity. His signature is probably worth a file about $5000 right now because he’s at seven times champion
