JR , greatest tv villain ever . I miss this show . Talented cast and great story lines made Dallas great and a can't miss every Friday night . NOT many shows can claim that .
This was one of the greatest doublecrosses I've ever seen. Carter McKay, and the Ewing family FINALLY working together instead of against each other. Jermey Wendell got BUSTED, hook, line, and sinker. Bobby was like, "I told you Wendell, if my brother didn't get you, I'd get you, and we got you together. Absouletely CLASSIC!
I remember when He did ask Sue Ellen to marry him..And her exact words were i would rather sleep with Jr next to you ..and a circus freak next to Jr...I love that line..XD
@@MMAfighter38113 I suppose Ewings were acting so naturally, just to make Wendell confess, he stood behind this war, to record all his words to tape for police to jail him.
It's a shame they didn't have George Kennedy character Carter Mackay in the early season's of Dallas, because he extremely good, it would give people a break Cliff Barnes and JR fued.
The Ewings were Invincible when they were United. J.R. was despicable and lovable at the same time, a feat rarely accomplished in literature, film, or TV. Sadly, when "Jock" died the writers chose poorly and began the swift decline and demise of Dallas.
William Smithers was a great character actor in the 60's and 70's. Usually doing villain parts. I remember him as a renegade Federation officer in the 1967 Star Trek episode "Bread and Circuses". He also played the warden in the 1973 Steve McQueen film Papillion.
He also did the part of a crooked politician, no less, in a mid-1990's episode of Walker, Texas Ranger (plot to kill off Walker) and gets killed off by an unscrupulous businessman! How's that for irony!
I loved this episode, and really liked season 12. They brought Ray back for a great range-war, Sue Ellen became a real power in her own right and JR married a cute, little hick.
Jeremy Wendell was the one truly invincible character in the Dallas plot. Wendell was not involved in alcohol, drugs, or women - which meant he didn't get seduced and didn't make mistakes while drunk. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in the writers, because there is NO WAY IN THE UNIVERSE that intelligent Jeremy Wendell would just admit to starting the range war and being responsible for a murder. He would NEVER, EVER do that!!! ... I want Wendell back!!!
Seriously, would ANY of you be DUMB enough to just admit you were responsible for a murder??? ... Answer: No. ... And even if you did, you would be drunk or far too stupid to be a billionaire like Jeremy Wendell. Jeremy was SMART. He didn't drink, so he wouldn't admit it like that. He wouldn't get seduced either, so he wouldn't tell it to a woman. He wouldn't say it over a phone, because it could be tapped. Jeremy would NEVER do this!
Michael Zoran Dallas writers, if you didn't want to pay William Smithers to play Jeremy Wendell anymore, then give him an honorable death - something like a plane crash or an assassination. Don't have him hang himself in an act of stupidity that is so gratuitously stupid and gratuitously unlike Jeremy that it looks absurd.
Jeremy Wendel was supposed to be a smart man and yet he confesses to a room full of people that he was guilty of attempted murder etc.. I knew that the Ewings weren’t going to sell section 40 when I saw Miss Ellie and Clayton sign one document.. It’s true that they both owned South Fork jointly but Miss Ellie and Miss Ellie alone, owned the mineral rights to drill for Oil. Hell, if she didn’t share the mineral rights with Jock, she sure as hell wouldn’t have shared the mineral rights with Clayton.. lol
The show never did really explain why Windell had SO much Hatered for the ewings. Cliff I can understand. But Windell?? Unless in tv season 3 when JR screwed him out of that deal??...but then again JR did that to Everone??XD.
MrCraigblaze There was probably a rivalry even before the beginning of the show. Maybe Ewing Oil was always an annoying thorn in his side even when Jock was running things. Although JR's unique brand of business probably escalated things.
JR Ewing is a saint in compared to Jeremy Wendell. Wendell thinks that he has all of the answers, well he will have plenty of time to figure that one out just by himself.
As soon as Jeremy Wendell comes through the door, at approximately 1:10, JR Ewing and family realizes what things he has done and the Dallas Police Department had the Ewing family (in which it includes Clayton Farlow) all wearing a bug so whatever Jeremy Wendell said could be used against him in a court of law. Please stay indoors during the quarentine as much as possible. Please post only positive comments over here. May 20, 2020 @ 11:20 am
I wish that Det. Harry McSween who was on JR'S payroll would have been the arresting officer. Plus, what a shame that HARRY & JR had a falling out over the issues with JOHN ROSS & SUE ELLEN at the beginning of this season.
It's up to John Ross and Christopher now. JR is dead . I can only hope in season 3. John and Christopher learn to get along. These days , there are plenty of Wendell's out to get the Ewings .
When Bobby and JR work together, without any of the animosity that defined their relationship, there is NOTHING that they can't do. At the end of the day, Jeremy Wendell was defeated by the unity of the family Ewing!
Actually Windell did some business with the Ewings in the early years. But when Ellie was going to divorce Jock, JR made plans to sell Ewing Oil to WestStar as a wholy owned subsidiary, with JR running it. Jock went crazy and called it off, after the Windell never would deal with JR. WestgStar was said to be the "8th largest" oil company out there, had it been larger it would have been bigger than the seven-sisters and infringed on reality.
well JR and Windell were to much alike they both wanted to be number one...that is why they never worked together on the same side. I do remember one time they made a deal but JR back out at the last second because he didn't want to lose Ewing Oil..during the time his Parents had a fight and he might lose the company.
Exactly Wendell would never have said anything about his plan to a group of people. This just proved the last 3 seasons were just terrible writing with no consistency for the past. Its a shame they ever got rid of Wendell.
+Geoff Scheinbach He would have seen the legal description on the deed and seen that the section/town/range was not the same as what he wanted to buy. But you are right, they were silly with the facts on this stuff. I watched this as a kid and have since become a professional in oil and gas land work. I can barely watch the new show it is so far from reality. What they "find" after signing a deal is so basic it is crazy.
