Before his team's final preseason game, Jones spoke on why his team shipped a fourth-round pick to San Francisco for former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance.

Not a very good Niners fan, apparently. Your post is blasphemous as a faithful. Lol You should stay with Lance in Jerry’s world. Cheer for him as a third stringer there 😂
@ninerfanmitch5157 hmmm. Lance beat out darnold in camp, KS an Lynch can't develop a qb. it's been shown. Also very gutless, so what they did was start their own clock. I'm happy lance willl get the coaching he needs not the run around..

@@chrissantos5580 He's 23 years old and has hardly played yet due to last years injury and covid.. He can't be that bad, they made him their starter going into last season. Stop being so hyper negative. Time will tell if he develops or not.
@@chrissantos5580 How many games has Lance played? Let's use our common sense and be fair. He did pretty well against the Broncos. At least let's let the poor guy play , then judge. him. The Niners ruined his confidence. They really have to work on him. He hardly was given a chance to play constantly. Jimmy Garoppolo was the main guy, then when Lance came to start he got injured. We will find out in a year. Niners have missed many opportunities in the past, they didn't draft Rogers and Brady. Keep that in mind.
This what Trey needed. A straight shooting leader. No bs. Jerry is going to make Trey feel like he made Deion feel when he came from the Bay. I’m still a Niner fan, but respect this move.
@blstesr5703… slightly different scenario because Primetime was a starter and an all-star and Jerry’s players wanted him. This time, if he’s to be believed, Jerry told NOBODY.
I’m a Niner fan and it makes me feel great that another team thinks and feels so highly about Trey Lance. This is a great move in my opinion that both teams benefit from. Wishing Trey the best . Go Niners!!!
I wouldn't say the niners benefited at all!😂😂 Kyle declined Tom Brady twice, gave up 3 first rd picks for Lance. Ran Jimmy G out of town who took yall to the Bowl now you gave up on Lance at just 23 years old all this just to have Brock and Sam as your #1 and #2😂😂😂 SF hold this L!!
at 80 yrs old Jerry is still very sharp and well spoken with his words. Also, interesting they did not get input from Mike. I like the move though, hopefully it works out.
I'm a Saints fan so naturally I don't like Dallas but I am rooting for Trey Lance to show out with every oppurtunity he gets. He didn't get a fair shake and I don't like tgat people are calling him a bust when he hasn't even got to prove it or not.
Ur "didnt get a fair shake" comment makes no sense when Trey started games, and has now regressed against preseason teams. If it was the coaching, the physically limited last pick in the draft Purdy wouldnt have made it as a starter with a great record now.
@@theejayzeeableit does make sense. He started 2 games last season and got hurt in the 1st quarter of that 2nd game. He basically hadn't played in a game for a year when this preseason started and he got better with every play. You say he regressed? I say what you said makes no sense.

True, not a Cowboy fan but pulling for Lance down in Dallas. I think Dak has 2yrs left on his contract; and that 2025 season is a 59M cap hit, so no doubt they see Lance at the very least bargaining chip in Daks next contract -- and if he fits in well potentially the next starter after Dak.
WOW the cowboys actually saw how good Trey was week 1 against the bears and realize Shanny and the defense ruined that game. yeeeet Kyle is gonna eat his words...
@kgar5String honestly I'd prefer to see trey go to a better situation where he can compete for a starting role. He's got 2 good quarterbacks ahead of him in Dallas. Tampa or Miami would be better opportunities for him. His old OC is the HC in Miami. The void Brady left in Tampa is still there. Jerry Jones isn't going to develop anybody. He's had very little to do with the relative success of Dak Prescott imo
I am the Number #1 Trey Lance fan in the world and I will be supporting him 110% as a Dallas Cowboy Lance fan as he gains the starting role and leads the team to winning the Super Bowl!!!! Lets go Cowboys and lets go Lance!
Jerry looks very motivated and uplifting while 49ers GM Lynch looks disappointed and that somber look during press conference for Trey JJ even share a laugh with reporters 😂
First time as a niner faithful I'm giving all my love and respect to the dallas cowboys. Class act, train him up well, and I wish you all the best. We'll still see you in the playoffs :P

Great trade by the Cowboys. Relatively low risk, high reward for a 4th round pick. New environment, fresh start will give Trey Lance the fresh start he needed.
A fresh start only makes a difference when the previous team was a toxic team. The 9ers are a winning organization. Trey is a bust. Congrats on the pick up lol.

This was so unexpected but I love this move, It makes perfect sense to have another QB on the roster who has a similar playstyle to your starting QB and also considering Daks injury's these last few years. I also can't help but feel this trade is going to light a fire under Dak this year, Trey will be able to learn from Dak and should Dak go down I'd like to think that Trey could take over seemlessly and keep the offense running at the same level.

If you didn’t like him for our Niners, now he’s gone. This is a Cowboy site. So why are you following Trey here? So what are your problems? It might be huge?
Embrace whatever transparency u think this is by Jerry. All he said is that he likes Lance. I'll embrace results. The physically-limited last pick in the draft produced great results from less coaching than Lance got. That says it all.
I'm confused where this belief comes from. Trey's injuries hurt him the most, I don't see why they would have traded up to get him if they didn't appreciate him, and if you saw Kyle's interview, or even heard him on the radio, he seemed generally upset that Trey wanted to leave. I believed he wanted him to stay there, but I am glad they gave him the choice and honored it rather than keeping him against his will. That shows they did and do care about him.
Love what Jerry had to say about Trey it's sad that it didn't work out in San Francisco but I'm glad that they're going to take care of him cuz he's definitely going to develop into a great quarterback he just needs the opportunity. Good luck Trey will be rooting for you
As a lifelong 49ers fan hearing Jerry speak I’m even more confident we are going to regret trading him to the Cowboys. In 2-3 years he will most likely be yall QB because your organization actually can develop a young QB and won’t give up after 4 games.
The 9ers coaching made the physically-limited last pick in the draft into a starter. So it's not on the 9ers. Trey is just a bust. He's a deer in headlights in the NFL.

You've got to be give Jerry Jones the title "A Wheeler Dealer"! He is serious about the Cowboys and will take chances to improve the team. I especially like the joke at the end of his press conference regarding Dak Prescott "Maybe Dak has found his calling" as an offensive coordinator/play caller! Classic!

49ers lucked into Brock Purdy. Had Purdy not done as well as he did last year, 49ers might've hung onto both Jimmy G and trying to get Trey Lance to start this season. Purdy threw a wrench into the original plan and San Francisco felt they needed to move on from both Grapoppolo and Lance.
Dallas Cowboys were smart enough to acquire Charles Haley from the Niners in the early 90s, which led to two SB wins. Cowboys know a good deal when they see it.
Its a good move. Lance has a similar style of play to Dak but is a bit more athletic, and Dak and Mike can help Lance hone in on his strengths and improve as an all around good QB.
What does getting Trey do for the Cowboys? It ultimately allows them to not extend and pay even more for a QB who can't get the team past the second round.
