Yes. As a therapist who works primarily with THESE kids. The vast majority of them are being raised (if you can call it that) by elderly grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins.....everyone but the birth parents. I have one grandmom who has 6 of her grandchildren. She is trying her best but they are beyond control. She doesn't bring them to therapy sessions regularly but will be there to unlock the front door to get them their medicine. The majority of the parents/grandparents don't care if the children improve mentally. They just want them medicated so that they can live their lives and do what they want. Hopping from man to man, violent, toxic situations to another..... pathetic. living wild, reckless and making more babies. It is disgusting.

Grandma I’m sorry but you have to take accountability for the way you raised your kids because often times the dysfunction been going on. My grandma raised 3 grandkids me including in the hood and none of us been in jail or living that sort of life. I understand that this is just my story but your grand child didn’t just turned bad. The fact that you have to step up, where are the parents ? And by you leaving him to the system, he will resent you. You basically sentenced him before they did. I don’t have kids yet but I cannot wait to be a grandma because I’m grateful to my grandma for doing her best with what she had.
