Dallas INSANE City of the Future in 2050! 

Dallas’ inflation is about 2% higher than National average….so the whole “cheaper” here than anywhere else argument is losing strength. In 5 to 10 years it will be more expensive than National average.

I live in Dallas. And let me tell you , Dallas is changing so fast . It's just insane.

I moved to Dallas in 1997, so I've seen a lot of growth and change in this city (especially in Downtown Dallas which is very lively now that it is more gentrified). With such a so-called "boom" in Dallas, I really which they would address the streets and roads which are in desperate need of repair. Most roads need to be repaved. Hard to imagine how Dallas can continue to grow without addressing this basic need.

I'm only 21 and I still remember when most of Allen was fields. The change is unbelievable.

Homeless have increased, flooding still apparent. Only fix streets around the higher income families. Homeownership now out of reach middle and lower class. List goes on

Dallas needs a lot of work to become "the best city" in the nation. Public transportation needs a complete rehaul. Local subways are needed and so is regional rail. The freeways seem to be half heartedly put together causing more traffic even in non rush hour conditions. I moved to Dallas is 2011 and yes it has grown but the infrastructure is not ready to handle even more influx of people.

I grew up in the Addison/Carrollton area and I remember the George Bush Turnpike and those those northern suburbs didn't even exist. Preston Road was a small road that disappeared into Plano and the land where the House I grew up in was forested. It was until the early 2000s that development started to pick up.

Great video and presentation, but for a Dallas native myself, born and raised... All this information is essentially just bad news. So many are moving here, it's crowded, cost of living is extremely high... Most people move here or love it here because even though we're a large city. It still felt 'spacious'. Now the way it's headed seems to me it'll be just like California pretty soon. Smh

I grew up in Frisco and it’s insane even in my short lifetime how much growth this place has seen. Just mind boggling how the whole place is like a construction zone and to see FM423 and Preston Rd turn into some triple lane insane major roads is just something to behold.

I love living in Dallas it has been my home for many years.

I'm a Dallas/Ft Worth native it's insane how much it's grown since I was a kid in the 80s! But this is always been a money making area so I guess I can't be to surprised

I've lived and worked in DFW for 15 years. I desperately hope I'm not here in three years, let alone 30. It's expensive, exclusive, and caters almost exclusively to giant corporations. Average schmucks like me don't have much to do here.

Moved from Memphis to Dallas area in 2009, and I generally love it! However all the growth (and projected continuance of such) combined with rapidly rising real estate cost is why I’m gunna be moving to Pittsburgh soon. I definitely see DFW getting much bigger and I think I’m just coming into a part of my life where I need a smaller city with more access to varied outdoor activities

Dallas is easily one of the worst cities in the US. A city is much more than the number of people and the number of major corporations there. I had the misfortune of living there for several years and it is the most isolating city I have been to. 95% of it car-dependent sprawl, multi lane roadways lined with endless strip malls. It’s a corporate wet dream. They build parks for the optics of having a park, yet it’s inaccessible without a car. If Dallas actually wants to thrive as a city it needs to invest in walkability and public transport, increasing density and reducing sprawl. I don’t think they ever will because, again, the city is all about optics. I’m pretty convinced that the DART was designed the way it was for the bragging rights of having the longest metro system in the US rather than actual functionality. The cost of living is not even that low when you consider the cost of housing plus transportation, and the massive property taxes.

Having been a resident of the DFW Metroplex for several decades, the things I would change are the title of the video, some of the claims made regarding population, and the pronunciation of some of the cites. While Dallas is and probably always will be the largest city in the Metroplex, I like that you covered the Metroplex as a whole. The title of the video should reflect that. Titling the video something like "The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex in 2050 -- Leading into the Future" would be a bit more of an accurate portrayal of the video's content. Also, while your statistics seem accurate, they give the impression that Dallas is or soon will be the 4th largest city in the USA, and that isn't accurate. When looking at the population of just the city of Dallas, it's the 9th largest city in the USA. Two cities in Texas -- Houston and San Antonio -- have a larger population than Dallas. When taking into account the population of just the cities and not the metro areas, Houston is 4th and San Antonio is 7th in the USA. That said, you are correct that the DFW Metroplex as a whole is projected to overtake the Chicago metro area in population sometime in the 2030s, which would make the DFW Metroplex the 3rd largest metro area in the USA. Even though Houston and San Antonio by themselves are bigger than Dallas by itself, the DFW Metroplex is bigger than either the Houston or the San Antonio metro areas. Finally, Plano in Collin County is pronounced "PLAY-no", and another city in the county is called McKinney, not McKinley. Those are the only things I'd change, although if you make a sequel or redo the narration, you might want to add that DFW International Airport is one of the few airports in the world that serves over 200 destinations worldwide, and perhaps also that American Airlines' hub at DFW Airport is the 2nd largest airline hub in the world; only Delta Airlines' hub in Atlanta Georgia is larger.

Nope, nope, and nope - 👎🏼 Dallas is garbage, and I have lived here for a long long time. It’s terrible. Pollution everywhere and the lakes and rivers are now having fish die-offs and more.

The real downside to the DFW area is Urban Sprawl. The only reason houses are so affordable is because they keep building further and further out instead of investing in better public transit and building more dense multi family dwellings. If DFW could refocus on those items it could better plan for future growth, keep housing prices low, better improve transit, and make the area more "Livable" and "Walkable" for its citizens. But no all the 85 year olds want their 17 acres of land and 16 chickens and hate the idea of "Undesirables" living near them

Dallas is growing but not in a good way. I lived here all my life and I can tell you its not the same. Its gotten worse in many ways and will continue to get worse. Life was more easy to handle and more enjoyable to travel around town with less stress. now just driving on weekends feels like rush hour non stop. I hate it.

Yeah, I live in Dallas, and its a shithole now with all the Californians that have moved there. Moving out, is too expensive now. Cool stats but I highly doubt this with the current trend of conservatism, most nice folk are moving. Wouldn't be surprised if Dallas becomes Las Angeles in the next 5-10 years.

I moved to Dallas in 2000 and have seen the amazing transformation of DFW. The city has tremendous potential. It’s the most diverse place in Texas and a great place for educated professionals to settle and raise a family.

I grew up in Oak Cliff and it's disgusting how the condos have moved in and completely changed the community dynamics.

Yep I am a Dallas resident and bought property at the last min in 2016 before the real estate spiked up considerably. I move from a 1500Sq townhouse to a 2 bedroom condo with a shared laundry space! I bought both at the same price just 7 years apart. Now if you are able to afford a house /townhouse with a garage in the inner city of Dallas you are doing well! Lol Also unfortunately you can find evidence of redlining done in the past. Fact: City of Sandbranch that apart of Dallas county has had contaminated water for 2 decades and the county us partly responsible? Not to put the major hub down but this is common across the US. So sad.

Quick correction: Dallas is 5th in Fortune 500 companies after NYC, Chicago, SF Bay Area and Houston (yes it’s not even first in it’s state)

I moved to Allen in 2013 from the UK. Think we were one family within a small community then, but it has grown a lot since. I love this area has been an amazing place to bring up our children, and looking forward to 2050 as the video illustrates.

Umm Philadelphia literally will be the nicest looking most diverse city by 2050 easy. If you don't come up North then you don't even understand how many different architect neighborhoods there are. We are mini New York on the East Coast. Dallas is cool. Austin looks more like Philadelphia. But the originators are ahead. Lived in north Dallas for 10 years it's amazing you can move up the ladder quickly if you work hard also the renovation is crazy I left out of town a month and came back to my neighborhood and it feels like a whole new area. Addison Circle is a cool place to go hell even Oak Cliff is getting nicer 😆 Dallas is very diverse.

Fort Worth is not a suburb of Dallas. It’s a completely different city, county, area code. And culture. Plano or Richardson Is a suburb. But not Fort Worth. A major hurdle in the future is increased population results in higher rents, home prices, property taxes. More people, more traffic, more poverty and crime. Quality of life issues suffers, What brought many to Dallas and other growing sunbelt cities like Atlanta, Phoenix, Vegas, others were low cost of living. Companies from other cities relocate, bring their employees, new residents move hearing about jobs. Create more jobs like construction or jobs in New built schools hospitals, retail, fast food, etc. Eventually things will slow down as new cities will attract Americans with low housing cost, companies relocate and the cycle continues. But who knows, Dallas could attract 10 million people become #1 in America. Become a megacity

I moved to Ft Worth 10 years ago. The growth is insane! Everywhere I go there's new construction, and there is so much land to expand. As of now the DFW is larger than the state of Rhode Island. Some people say that the DFW will be like Los Angeles in 20 years. I believe it, that's why I'll probably move out of here when I retire.

I live in DFW and it’s pretty unpleasant, I want to live in a walkable city, the traffic is terrible, all of the places to eats are just chain restaurants unlike somewhere like Austin. Cannabis is illegal, lots of bigots, the outdoors is so ugly and it’s so INSANELY hot and humid most of the year and it’s only going to get worse and worse from a weather standpoint

Once there is "extreme" weathers (14F or 105F), Dallas suburbs lose power. Some places even lose power for more than weeks with this extreme weather. Please dont call Dallas futuristic when the power infrastructure in Texas is not optimal neither efficient.

Dallas is not the main core of DFW, DFW has 2 core cities. Fort Worth is literally the FW in DFW. This causes ppl to come to my home thinking they're in a suburb of Dallas when that's not true. Dallas is important but not the leader of the region. Sorry but no. Fort Worth would still be big and important without Dallas

Been here since 2009 from Malawi, Africa. The Dfw metroplex was so safe and still developing. Now, it is overcrowded, random shooters, road rage killings, an increase in kidnappings, and air pollution. I am thinking of relocating up North.

I think the biggest thing to note is that youre describing what dallas used to be, not what it is and has been for years now. Its rapidly declining in standard of living, increasing crime problems, and some crazy budget problems due to the sprawl. Can the city fix it and restore the standard of living? Maybe. DART is trying to push transit oriented development, and the inner suburbs no longer have room to expand, and the boomers are dying out so theres definitely been a noticeable interest to make the city more livable and walkable. Ft worth is behind the curve on this, but if things go ok in dallas then they might get on board and begin making improvements, but as it stands the Metroplex has a majority of its infrastructure crumbling, a dangerous and very incomplete public transit network where the bus stops literally have homeless people living in them, rapid inflation in housing prices (other inflation is pretty low tho so it could be worse), horrible sprawl leading to horrible walkability, majority single family housing which is almost entirely responsible for the previous 2 problems and more, an education system thats declining, massive bugetary problems, and a downtown thats attrocious in areas because theres surface level parking. Not underground, not even garages, legit parking lots in a downtown urban area. Thankfully the city is at least trying on some fronts to combat these problems, but the suburbs continue to be problematic and older generations still have most of the power so changing the city to be more walkable and livable is gonna take a pretty long time. Also, fuck TxDOT. They need to help fund dart instead of wanting to widen the already 6 lane each way highways. Redoing intersections is cool but like theyre low key the biggest problem with making public transit viable in texas.
