@@chedelcastromahinay764it was mediocre, if you think about it as a separate story and don’t compare it to the animation then it’s good, I think s2 will be better tho
god i hate to be that guy but ian ousley (dude playing sokka) pretended to be native and joined a fake tribe so he can get the role :[ im not entirely faulting netflix because to their credit the rest of the cast are actual poc and line up with the characters actual personalities but this is worth calling out
i'd link sources if i could but yt wont allow so to summarize: none of the official cherokee tribes have ian ousley listed in their records as an actual member save for the Southern Cherokee Nation of Kentucky. Wikipedia lists it as an unrecognized tribe, leading people to think people are just making this up to attack Ian, however actual Natives have been calling out the fake tribe since 2011.
im so heartbroken....i decided to actually give the cast a chance and i liked what i saw so far but to learn what happened with him is so disappointing :( Sokka was a strong inuit character i cant believe this is happening....
No don’t worry about that. Thank you for bringing this up. I have heard about it and I am looking into it as well. I know there were screenshots of emails on Twitter but I’m not sure how trustworthy those are since they are from Twitter. I have heard different things from different sources. Some say that some tribes are just not recognized by the government, which does not make them fake but I’ve heard some people just say it’s an outright fake tribe. I don’t know if all the people who are speaking on it have the right to (because idk if they’re native or not) but if they’re not, I don’t think they can say who’s native and who’s not. Only some ppl in the country have the documentation to prove they are native even if others still have native ancestry. If anything is confirmed for sure then I am definitely going to hold Ian Ousley accountable and hold Netflix accountable (if they knew). I am ready for him to be recast for book/season 2 if he does turn out to be white (if they get one). It would be understandable (at least for me if they didn’t recast him in book one bc they’ve already started filming and this situation doesn’t have much coverage yet. If they don’t recast at all then I am not supporting the show. Listen to natives and the facts when they are 100% confirmed. Thank you for reading this far if you have.
@@agent1-085 of course! thank you so much for being so understanding about it, i'll make sure to keep an eye out in case any new info is brought to light
He is ASIAN. Zuko's character design didn't look Asian at all. Disappointed. The should have at least casted a mixed-race actor if representation is more important than being true to the original.
