Obsession with JR destroyed his life. He should have moved on. JR would have moved on to someone else and Cliff would have still been with Afton. She was good for him.
Cliff destroyed every relationship in his life with his obsession over the Ewings. Not just his romantic relationships like with SuEllen, Afton, Jaime and others, but even his relationships with his sisters, and his mother. The character Cliff was fun to watch, but also almost sad and pathetic to watch because he was so often his own worst enemy. Most times JR wasn’t even interested in giving Cliff the time of day because he thought Cliff was a buffoon unworthy of his attention, but Cliff just kept picking at the Ewings… JR just had to keep being the elephant stepping on the mouse.
What a great show Dallas was no other soap comes close. Great Scene That! Cliff Barnes my all time favourite in Dallas so emotional there but got his come up ence from Lesley Anne-Down! Ken Kercheval God Rest x.
Geez Louise! Cliff Barnes ruins just another relationship. Cliff should have been grateful because JR Ewing actually ended up paying for his honeymoon.
I agree completely! When Liz says can we drop it, Cliff just should have said yes, it doesn't matter. Then they could have gone ahead and got married, moved up to D. C. and perhaps lived happily ever after. Just another missed opportunity for old Cliff Barnes to end his feud with J. R. Ewing and have a better life. Oh well. ;)
Plus Cliff moving on and been happy might have been the perfect revenge against JR because he would have been the one to end the Barnes/Ewing feud by just ignoring JR.
Cliff should realize when all those times he got beat by JR that he is the better man and there is nothing JR won’t do to destroy cliff still cliff tries I’ll give him that
Travis Grant Actually, when the series first started I found him very appealing. He was a lawyer/aspiring politician who was a man of the people, underdog type. When he starts in on the Barnes/Ewing feud he becomes a jackass.
Travis Grant I guess it's just a matter of taste. I have always preferred a more mature look. The Salt and pepper hair, over 30, etc. That being said, I married a younger man, lol!
Ah! Cliff also said that no matter what the alternative lives it could have been in life, that Cliff and JR would have always clashed. Cliff made peace with Miss Ellie and the Ewings, but JR was in a separate category.
How is it a conflict of interest Liz having her brother oil company to Cliff I think Cliff is doing more whining about the oil company is none of Cliffs bussiness what Liz has is no concern of Cliff’s
I really wish people would remember theses scenes with cliff in the later seasons they seem to keep going on about the park bench scene with miss Elle he was only nice for a season and a half. This is the real cliff. So his character in the 2012 to 2014 dallas is correct. He was always going to turn out ti be a bitter and twisted old man obsessed on revenge we see hints of the evil cliff from those Dallas in this scene
The aspect of Cliff at that park bench scene was that he made peace with the Ewings; but he added a proviso to Miss Ellie that him and JR would always clash, no matter what their alternative lives could have been.
JR bought the company to get revenge on Lee-Ann who held the oil rig leases. He would then pull the plug on those leases leaving her with a pool of oil and nowhere to store it. It's quite similar to what he did to Wendell. He bought a piece of land that separated Wendell's gas field that he bought from Barnes from the main gas supply. Cliff had an easement in exchange for West Star voting proxies. Wendell ended up handing JR back all the Ewing Oil assets in exchange for a piece of land. Wendell said what do you think that piece of land is worth. JR replied everything that had the Ewing Oil name on it. It's that land for everything else.
