As an OKC fan I love yall additions. The Naji pickup is huge. Hes underrated as a shooter and was great defensively round 1 on Shai (SGA gonna get his though, just like Luka does for yall) Fans of other teams who don’t think you guys got better are probs just salty you guys got so far last year. I really think our teams are 2 of the best 3 for years to come (Celtics obviously). Gonna be a fun rivalry between us moving forward. Was rooting for you guys after you knocked us out last year, but hopefully we can get yall back at some point ;) Rest of the west beware!

I really think both our teams are gonna be top 2 in the west for years to come! I think Wemby and the spurs are couple years out but then they will be there with the Thunder and Mavs for sure.

Thanks Nick, it has to be Spencer Dinwiddie. Clutch shooter, hits logo threes/pull up transition threes/catch and shoot threes/side step threes; mid range game, absolutely fearless driving and dunking on bigs (remember the dunk on Gobert IN utah in the 2022 playoffs ? Logo three at Utah? Luka Doncic does--he was often all smiles applauding Dinwiddie's play a fan of his game. Also dunked on Embiid), a lot of sneak dunks. 36 points vs the kings in 2022 with Dallas, 36 points vs phoenix with Luka out in 2023 before the trade, 30 points vs suns in game 7 2022. Game-winning threes vs Cs and nets with mavs. Then his game-winning block on Damian Lillard with the lakers so his defense has improved. His role in LAL was not ideal; was not the right system for him. Barely shot the ball. It wasn't him falling off. Put the ball in his hands and he'll make good things happen. So he's a better defender, has strong rapport with Kyrie Irving, Doncic and Hardy, and he hits clutch threes at a high clip? Bring back Dinwiddie!

Omax needs to be PJ back up, and he should have a long leash, let him play through mistakes. DSJ brings alot of what DJJ does. High-flying defensive player who can guard crafty and quick shot creators. DJJ is more lengthy which allowed him to be more versatile defensively. However, I believe Mavs can have a combination of Klay, Grimes, Naji, and P.J. guard those bigger wings. DSJ may not have to be so much of shot creator with guys like Klay, Luka, Kyrie, and maybe Hardy (depending on his growth) on the team so he can focus being more of a facilitator and be the occasional catch and shoot guy who can attack close outs similiar to what DJJ did for the Mavs, but with more playmaking.

This guy not afraid to shoot in clutch situations and a smart offensive player. Can create on his own and bailed Mavs a couple of times when he has to hit a game winner. When Luka was out, Spence and JB carried the Mavs against the Mitchel and the Jazz. With the available options left hard to find players that can do that.

Ideally they upgrade the Powell and Kleber spots. While Kleber is still playable at times, his contract could be bundled with the remaining space to get a legit player. And Powell doesn't do anything well a center needs to do. He's in a Boban role as a vibes guy. Right now he's too close to having to actually play, and that's bad.

Isaac is the most unique defender in the league and could easily offset a LUKA, KYRIE, CLAY defensive deficiencies, with any combo of other player.

I think we're underestimating shot creation abilities of Grimes, and ball handling/passing of Naji. I feel the biggest gap is in center spot. Maxi is fine, but I feel he fits more as a PF than C. We saw that when Lively got hurt during the playoffs.

Random, but is there any way for Dallas to get Roddy from Phoenix? He was a decent defender and still on a rookie contract. Played a lot for Memphis then basically zero for Suns. Be a physical defender- and I bet his shooting would improve and be more consistent

Let us not recreate past experience with Dinwiddie. It never works. Same with DFS. With reduced offensive workload Luka and Klay should elevate their defense to 80% of a true defender, progressively. They will need it if Luka, Kyrie, and Klay have to play together and definitely in playoffs. Now to shake the beehive if Luka could play the point of attack defense at the key (He is pretty bad at defending the corners anyways and he gets to save few steps to start the offense). He has height, width, and IQ to deter offense and if someone is able to pass by Kyrie can strip/hustle/frizzle out the drives as second line of defense. There is a like for like replacement of DJJ within the roster. Greg Brown III has the same supple steps and verticality of DJJ. Right time to develop GB and Omax for wing defense. Heard Omax has grown to be 6-9 or 6-10 and that is small center ahead of Powell.

The last missing piece for this team is a proven, consistent, playoff caliber 3rd ball handler. Dinwiddie would 1000% be an amazing fit, and if the Mavs were smart they'd dump the likes of DP & Lawson to be able to offer enough money to secure him. Spencer has proven oncourt chemistry with Luka, and could fill in for either Ky or Luka when they miss time. I love Hardy & Exum and think they could be great spot fills for the regular season, but they haven't quite showed enough consistency for this very important role in the playoffs. Also, people are sleeping on Ky as a guard-defender. He mentioned stepping up his defensive game, and showed just how good he could be while guarding J Dubb. WIth Klay & possibly Spencer picking up a lot of the offensive responsibility, I think he can become a CP3 or J Kidd level defender.

Look kairi,luka and klay shoots a lot. Therefore they missed a lot also. Thats why they need good rebounder that can give them 20 plus rebound in nightly basis. A denis rodman type of player. Not good in offence but God tier in rebounding.

The only players I would even remotely be interested in taking, if I were in Nico’s job, are Spencer Dinwiddie and Saddiq Bey. A shooting and chemistry advantage in one guy and size and paint presence in the other. I would even entertain trading Powell to get Boban back because at least I’ve seen him go for 30 on a random afternoon. Never a bad thing to shore up your 3rd string lineup.

Hint: "The scheme" melted down in TD Garden. Kyrie went into the fetal position. Luka had 19 turnovers in TD Garden. Boston got over the hump by adding a player, in Jrue, with championship experience. That's why they moved so quickly on Klay. If/when the scheme melts down in the bright lights of the Finals, you need a lead guard who has been there. Kyle Lowry.

Alec Burke would be the perfect vet. Solid defender, can create his own shot, or for someone else, mainly give Hardy 25 mins, and let go through the up & downs

I didn’t know Spence was a free agent this year. Spence is the 1a, and dsj is the 1b, unless we can somehow steal derozan . If we can steal derozan for 17-20 mil the same way we stole klay, because they felt disrespected by their home team, then you can guarantee the mavs a ring maybe multiple before they retire.

I like Lowry Smith Jr bullock and dinwindie. Lowry a veteran presence championship pedigree, can shoot the three, strong enough to defend multiple positions and smart defender. Smith Jr can attack the paint a bit, strong defender. Dinwindie, big guard can create, can shoot maybe. Bullock, reliable defender before, maybe can rediscover his shooting again with the mavs

The Mavericks should add either Spencer Dinwiddie, Dennis Smith, or Tarena Prince depending on what the team management thinks they need most. Spencer for ballhandling, Smith of defense of guards, or Prince for three-point shooting forward.

Honestly Dinwiddie would be perfect amongst all available currently however would there be any tiff from him and kai brooklyn days any animosity? Id like to think not and theyre over that but im not 100% also i just saw Spencer Dinwiddie city connect jersey at Ross Dress for Less and i was honestly tempted to buy it but then i remember that momma comment and threw it back on the rack..so if he comes back imma be real salty.... as for DSJ im all for that i love his defense his bounce is really needed and i think he could learn a lot under Kyrie but again not sure if those 2 would gel well im like 95% sure they would but DSJ did butt heads literally with Kyrie in his rookie year which i know was ages ago but even so i neeed everyone happy good vibes and we can make it back. But we definitely need a handler a good guard no offense to AJ but we need someone at least on Hardy level

The groupings should be Ball handlers - Luka, Kyrie, Exum 2 guard only - Hardy Sg/sf - klay, Grimes, Naji Sf/pf - PJ Pf/c - maxi C only - lively gafford Powell. We need another big wing to back up PJ. Saqqid bey would be perfect and also can be a shot creator

I think Exum can cover 1-3, Naji can also play 4 giving the matchup and lineup out there. As Nick said, a guy like Spencer who can run plays and pass the ball like traditional PG is bigger need than back up SF/PF. In a perfect world we bet on Bey and bring Spencer, cut Lawson probably.

@@farukguney6894 we really don’t want 6’6 naji playing power forward, even thou he can, a backup big wing is more important I think. We already have exum as our third ball handler which means there’s three there already, at least one of ky and luka will be on the floor at all times handling the hall and if one is out injured we have exum who is sufficient. Another ball handler is just for worst case scenario if ky and luka injured

The only Correct Answer to this Answer Depends on the Position you Decide to go with? If its Guard the Correct Answer is Dinwiddie. Gives us a Bigger shot creating Guard who has proven he works and excels in Kidds Scheme that can handle PG Duties for our 2nd unit so Hardy and Exum can play their true position of SG. If he would have came here instead of LA last year I promise you he would have had and Played Monster Mins in our Finals Run this year. If you go Forward. The only correct answer is Saddiq Bey. He's only 25 and is the youngest Big Bodied long athletic Wing that you can use in rotation with Marshall and add extra depth in that Forward role that can play/guard multiple postions. That has big Upside to him. He would be an absolute steal to take a flyer on if we could get him for the 4.4M we have left to spend. We should see if we could sign him to an average contract of about 7Mil a year fo 3-4 years but structure it ascending to where his 4.4Mil this year fits. Gives us another long athletic 6'7 wing that has a 6'11" wingspan.

Kyle Lowry. Watched some more tape and he still has it. Smartest guy on the court, still a good three point shooter, can still guard the point a few minutes per quarter. Hit eight threes vs the Knicks in the playoffs, six steals vs only four turnovers, was awful in the last three games (1-12) and the 76ers were still in every game (three and five point losses). He’s just the leagues best grinder among the senior citizens.
