JR just wanted to keep Sue Ellen as a novelty as she was Miss Texas. Julie & J.R. were close in age and Sue Ellen was about 10 years younger. Sue Ellen was beautiful & had it all. Mandy was 10 year younger and was pretty, but she was just no Sue Ellen.

The funny thing is the part at the end was similar to an earlier episode when they got in a wicked fight after she tried to adopt a baby. She slapped the piss out of JR and they had some wild make-up sex. But this time, Sue Ellen flipped the script. LOL!
You're combining two different; but similar scenes. In "Black Market Baby" she doesn't slap him; but he does throw her on the bed & they do have wild make-up sex. The time she slapped him, knocking his hat off, was in "Rodeo" and again he threw her on the bed; but she made a comment about Kristin and JR got up and said he had spent too much time on her. No sex that time.

Actually he kind of did, that's for sure. But Sue Ellen had a point, JR and Cliff shared at least four women together. Those women were Afton Cooper, Julie Grey, Sue Ellen herself, and that Mandy Winger chick so JR had no right to even get mad at Sue Ellen for wanting to be with Cliff.
Why Jay? I am not the biggest Cliff Barnes fan either, but you can't be mad at somebody if they don't want to be with you, and let's face, JR and Sue Ellen were a toxic couple. She had some affairs of her own, and he had too many to count. She was an alcoholic, but he could hold his liquior. He was emotionally, physically, and mentally abusive, and so on, but Sue Ellen says he still loved her. Hell she shot him. I mean they were no good for each other. The only good thing that came out of their marriage was John Ross, that's it.
