I watched this show last year in its entirety and i'm doing again this year. I'm at season 8 this 2nd time around. This show never gets old. I love how JR is sticking it to Cliff, or "that nitwit Barnes" as he used to put it everytime and Barnes never learns his lesson. RIP Mr Hagman, your role on Dallas is legendary even 40+ years later. The man everyone loves to hate. On the show he was a real SOB but in real life he was totally opposite, a loving and caring personality. The most vile, evil, defying act JR pulled ( none of his other deeds holds a candle to it, NONE) was when he sent Pam island-hopping in the Carribbean looking for Mark just to keep her away from Bobby so that they wouldnt get back together again. When she came charging into his office after having found out, that was her best performance on the show. On another note, Dallas had the best writing for a tv show of its time (and still is 40+ years on) along with a slight touch of comedy ( JR putting Cliff in his place were iconic scenes) and lot of drama. RIP David Jacobs the creator of the best iconic tv show that stood the test of time brilliantly. Dallas had it all: Best writing, best directing, best actors, glamour, lavish life styles, best of everything.

I'm watching the show again and I'm on season 6. I find it fascinating that the show tackled so called taboo subjects back then. The gay boyfriend/finance was groundbreaking. Ray's depression, Pam's inability have children which also lead to her depression. Dallas doesn't get credit for that.

@@edwardnardone7485 That’s not why it got cancelled. It lasted a whole season and a half after Larry passed. Michele and Donna never did Dallas, even though Donna played a Ewing herself. However, apart from Gary and Valene, Michele’s character ‘Karen’, is the only other character from Knots Landing to have been referenced in Dallas. Another interesting note is that between Dallas and Knots Landing, the Ewing family were portrayed across 27 seasons, two mini series, a prequel tele-movie, two sequel tele-movies, and a 3 season reboot, from 1978-2014.

Larry took a page from his character and inspired actors to know their worth. He became one of the highest-paid TV actors as a result. Love his story of how his upbringing inspired JR. Larry was a great storyteller and gave us so many memories of his years in acting. That's what makes a great show like Dallas still iconic after many years, it's the storytelling.

I am disappointed though that they abandoned Wes Parmalee and the Chance to bring back Jock Ewing. Clayton Farlow was ok, but he was No Jock Ewing. I didn't remember the Wes Parmalee episodes when I was a child. But as an adult I enjoyed the premise that Jock Ewing survived the helicopter crash with plastic surgery etc. I was very disappointed that fans didn't go for it. In a way--it was like the Waltons in the sense that you had multiple generations living under one roof and the scenes with the lights on in the house at night. Except the Waltons never had any REAL problems---nothing that couldn't be resolved at the end of one episode and there was always a moral to the story. No major scandals or deceit like Dallas had, and the "good guys" always won
