As much of the transport category fleet is now operating beyond its expected service life, Damage Tolerance reviews effects of aging and repeated stress on metal aircraft structures. It provides a basic understanding on how the ability of an airframe to resist damage is designed and built into structures at manufacture, and how that tolerance is often compromised during load cycles, refurbishment and repairs. Also provides an initial overview of the types and importance of nondestructive testing.
