Thanks for the love guys. I am more active now a days on the channel. Hope you guys enjoy the content. Keep spreading the appreciations. I read your comments
The voiceover was there because he’s still putting that his location is in the US when he’s not. Really should be putting it back to his own country but it is what it is
Oh my god thank you for finally making a thumbnail that doesn't have the final result. One of my personal favorite things about forging and restoration videos is seeing the transformation first hand, having the finished product right on the 'title' so to speak ruins quite a bit of the enjoyment for me
Your the first person ive seen, actually fold the Damascus right and then layering it with softer steel inside. Little sad you didnt forge it by hand with proper full tang, but the weld looked solid enough for a kitchen knife. Lol
Actually the steel inside the damascus layers is high carbon steel, not softer steel. There'd be no point in doing san mai with soft steel for the edge!
I have some questions. You chose not to pack the canister out with powdered steel. You chose to weld on a tang rather than forge it out. You quenched in water then again in oil. No doubt the knife looks good, but why choose to do it this way?
I think he went without powdered steel as to stay as true to the title as possible (I obviously may be wrong since these are just my speculations) and maybe he welded on a tang as to not ruin the Damascus pattern possibly. As for the quenching I haven’t the slightest clue lol
Was a truly frightening video at the beginning. I was like, wtf is he doing? Why is he doing that? No filler...going to have holes...I get it now lol I thought you had lost your bearings. Nice end result. Very nice knife.
Once in this channel.... millions of view use to there ...but now .. the scenario is totally different..... it's sad to see..... But keep going bro , maintain your consistency. Try to do something new and different..... insallah this channel will rise again to it's peak
I was shocked that the billet held together without apparent cold shuts or cracking. I didn't realize you were just going to use it for a san mai construction, it worked out really nicely.
That was a really cool build! I love the san-mai pattern with the Damascus! Awesome work ☺ oh yeah I usually make my knives barefoot too 😁 may you and your loved ones have a blessed day. Looking forward for your next project!
A little powdered steel would have gone a long ways into making this billet a bit for operator friendly. Probably would have had your initial billet made in 2 or 3 heats.
Ya really needed some powdered metal to fill the voids that where left making the Canister Damascus other then filling the gaps it helps to show the contrast that makes Damascus Damascus.. It's still a beautiful piece..
It would have looked 100 times better, if the original outline of the bearings was still there. The next time you do a can job like this one, coat the inside of the can with Magnesium Oxide to make it easy to remove the can, and fill in the voids with metal powder and don't fold it over. Just smash it all flat so the balls and races can be seen. Remove the bearing shields before fusing the bearings together.
Сталь с подшипников вполне подходит на режущую кромку, не обязательно было вставлять пластину в ламинат. Можно было оставить обойму на лезвие, а обкладки сделать из шариков.
It's too much unnecessary work. What you should've done is, cut those ball bearing and take only the steel balls, and add some 5160 steel dust, and make a canister damascus. It's looking good NGL., but I thought I should share some exp.
