Damascus - rare Sufjan Stevens song 

I was 16 when I first heard this song, and I was in love with it. Now I’m 30, and I’m still as big a Sufjan fan as I was as a kid.

Can we just appreciate the fact that this masterpiece has been on RU-vid for 14 years and here we are still enjoying it now

God I love this song. Same as everyone here - first time like 15 years ago and it’s emotional to come back to it every few years

Some songs have inside meanings to the writer and aren't meant to be deciphered just enjoyed. Just be thankful he put such beauty on earth.

I found it! By accident! I vaguely remembered hearing something this beautiful before, but it was hard to track down because Sufjan has so many beautiful songs. What a lovely song.

OK, this is ANOTHER gem that he hasn't released. His productivity is amazing which is great because his music is fantastic.

This song came from a compiliation album called 'Seen/Unseen' The actual album is out of print, but I'm sure you could find it somewhere online.

reminds me of a holiday in the meditteranean I had, I was about to move from home to university back in England, and I kept playing this song on repeat the whole week, like an ode to the challenging future. or something.

Sufjan is so great, that brilliant tracks like this are left off his full length albums. That is the true depth of his works.

The latter part of this song kind of sounds like and reminds me of Street Spirits by Radiohead; regardless, great song by Sufjan.

It would be pretty awkward if he was gay. As this song is about Paul and Jesus... He also has countless christian folk songs.
