Losing Barry is like losing a hilarious, absolutely bonkers community since his characters were so vibrant that they had a life all their own. So sad to lose a fantastic, quick-witted, kind soul who blessed us with laughter for decades. Thank you for helping us all to take life a little less seriously, old friend. A life well-lived! It’s so true that with Barry’s passing we also have had to face the simultaneous deaths of Dame Edna, Les Patterson and Sandy Stone (although he was a ghost anyway!). It’s so true that the loss feels so “ginormous” (to use a word any of his characters would’ve loved) because each iconic character fell at the same time. Such a huge soul and spirit Humphries was. Bless.

He had the rare ability to take control of the interview and control any direction he wanted to take it in with his wit. He was a master of human physcology and would do his homework to weaken the interviewer. People just think he is funny but if you observe him closely he is a genius and on a higher intellectual level. The only person I have seen come close is Russel Brand. Watch his interview on morning Joe and how he controls it with wit and how the anchor woman quivers. Wit trumps brawn and looks everytime.

Dame Edna, of course, always shines, but what absolutely makes this particular interview for me is the crew's laughter in the background. That's how good she was. She could make EVERYBODY laugh. What a hilarious woman. May she (and the great Barry Humphries) rest in peace.

aww takes me back to when I was younger, its such a shame when these people pass. Paul O’Grady was another recently. It is worse to imagine that soon David Attenborough will be gone, Del boy from only fools and horses and a massive number of just amazing and/or funny people. I dread to imagine the future of television and movies, I mean todays movies are just rubbish. These people we are losing, are what made the movie and series industries just amazing. Todays and up coming actors etc just have not got it.
