Truly a remarkable legend. No other singer has this talent, watching their voice get stronger as the years go on. She is a true superstar to which no one can compare.
And STILL in 2020 going strong, I just bought her new “farewell” album and my goodness, still the most powerful and utterly delicious instrument in the business. An absolutely under appreciated legend, I understand certain singing styles fall out of fashion but why they’ve not asked her back for a fourth Bond them is a tragedy and our loss.

I think she didn't really stop singing, unlike some singers who take a years-long break and then come back rusty. As for my favourite track by her, I always love "Never³" for her vocals and its bassline...
Just heard her latest and last album. I am stunned how she marched through 60 and more years of Showbusiness without lacking her voice and charisma. Thanks for sharing your incredible medley. That must have been such a work, but it reveals how grand this lady was and still is.

@@TEOCALE So true. When I saw it on the track list, I really thought she would not be able to give it all, because it is such a difficult song, but she gave me gooze bumps. My favorite though is "I made it through the rain". Just because this is how I would write a song for her.
I was going to mamake this video but you caught me to it!! What an absolute beast of a vocalist. I loved seeing how her voice got rather and even more powerful as Dame Shirley got older. Even in her 80s, she seems so confident and in control. Well done on the video and your great channel overall. Btw, do you live in the US or EU?
Pop Land I haven’t got big problems with copyright. I can upload them but of course I can’t monetize them. For my compilations I try to choose videos from RU-vid which are uploaded by unofficial channels. When it’s possible I don’t use official track from official albums. Some months ago I had problems with a video of You Are My Friend by Patti LaBelle in 2018 when she sang for VH1. So I had to substitute it with a fan-made video of the song
According to her musical director she was first classified as a soprano and then due to smoke's damaging effect and pregnancies her voice lowered to a mezzo.
Quincy Cooper In the 50s and 60s she sounded like a standard lyric soprano with a strong belt to be honest. I recommend listening to her duet with Anthony Newley and her early Royal Variety performance. You can hear her soprano voice there.

Listen to her CHEST notes. This is a lyric soprano. Big voice. Why? Proper technique. More developed than the mezzo in that performance (who is also decent in her own right, but not nearly as good). A lyric mezzo when developed properly will be bigger than the biggest soprano (and darker actually...). Listen to the size. Dramatic soprano size and darkness. Mezzo will sound darker and bigger when developed. Like Elena Obraztsova (who some consider to be a dramatic soprano as well) or Oralia Dominguez. An actual DRAMATIC mezzo will also be considerably lower than any of the ladies I mentioned and much closer in natural timbre and tessitura to a contralto, which is why dramatic mezzos often get to play the witch or old women roles or even in travesti roles (crossdressing as men) - because they do sound androgynous. So no, she is not too loud to be a lyric voice. She is just a developed instrument.
great singers voices do not peak until they are into their late 40's.......the best vocals of ANY great singer is between the 45-55..year old range.....dont believe it?...pick out your favorite great singer and go listen....of course what i am telling you applies to mature people...not idiot children...who think every contestant on tv's crap singing shows....is the greatest voice they ever heard..
