Patti is a very passionate singer. Everytime she gets on the stage, she always gives her 100%. And I love that about her. It's all or nothing and thankfully, she always gives us her all every performance. Truly a world class singer
Patti is a force of nature. Patti has Mother Nature, Father Time and God (the Holy Trinity of Longevity) all on her side. God hand crafted her vocal cords and blessed the world with her. She’s soo inspirational, loving, and caring. She has saved sooo many lives I know this because she saved mines and I’m only 15. I wish I could meet her one day! She has truly been blessed and she passed her blessing on! She’s the Queen of Voice! And she deserves everyone in the music industry respect. I love her!
I felt this. I can't tell you how bad I needed that big beautiful voice to sing me happy or her stage antics to make me laugh. She's an icon and a treasure. I'm glad people recognize how truly special she is while shes still here.
The way she just casually stroll out with all them octaves. Everybody need to just know they're about to become backup singer and just play their role.
@@russelwilliam6051 I'm not even sure what this comment says, but if you think Patti didn't turn Diana into a backup singer you bumped your head. 1) You'll never see Patti anywhere that her drag wasn't on point and 2) Diana whined for years about a performance they did together at the Apollo where Patti damn near melted Diana's face off. David Ruffin fried her wig and was an entire octave above his natural key, and that list goes on. Diana on her best day sounds like an out of breath asthmatic white lady, she's anybody back up singer.

Patti's voice is phenomenal. Whether a fellow singer likes her voice or not, they cannot deny her the respect that she can and will most likely out sing them....everytime!

Patti doesn't try to outdo anyone on purpose it's just that singers of her caliber get in a zone and something spiritual just takes over allowing them to just outshine everyone else they're singing with.It's very hard to contain than feeling once it takes hold.

Every performance Patti does alone or with others, she gives her best! The other artists already knows she raises the bar, and most to all of us enjoys every minute of it! I wish I could sing with her!!!
To be fair, at 4:38, that was Cyndi Lauper battling an auto immune disorder that impacted her upper bekting range Cyndi maintained that range until at least 60, before health problems. You can see how disappointed she is
Go watch the video of "We are the World", and watch Cyndi do her part. Celine Dion does it justice on the 25th anniversary but Cyndi hit that range like a duck hitting water.... simply put,,,it was perfect!!🌉🌉🌉🌉
There's a clip out here somewhere of her and Patti singing Lady Marmelade together and until then I never realized how powerful her voice was. After that, Patti would mimic her runs sometimes at shows and would always give a little shout out "Ms. Cyndi Lauper". If that ain't a compliment, I don't know what is hunny! There was always alot of love and respect between the two of them. ❤
See I've been thinking about who's the better soprano. Chaka in her prime sounded better to me because her style was more urban or R&Bish although she'd consider it just funk. Patti is more soulful and Id say has a stronger soprano.
@@Justmejbird The difference is that Patti is an actual mezzo soprano and her sound in the upper register may be a bit on the higher sound. She uses a lot of head voice...Chaka is a different breed and my all time favorite, so I may be a little biased here, but facts are facts. Chaka is a contralto and uses ALLLLL chest voice to sing in her upper register (which is extremely hard to do). Chaka's overall range is much wider than Patti's, because of Chaka's lower register (Patti has never sang a full on bass note song the way Chaka has, think "Everlasting Love" or "Best of Your Heart" or even the beginning of "Stay" just to name a few lol). Chaka doesn't use falsetto and has sounds just a strong as Patti.

Anybody that knows me personally knows that I am a devoted child of Motown that being said, I completely love - love this 💯😍🔥🔥 ! I've been pulled into several small debates ( with people who just don't know any better) -- [ mostly it's generational ] about Patti LaBelle. I say , she is the extraordinary vocal performer bar none. It's not a competition , she's anointed by God ! ; and there is just nobody like Patti LaBelle she is in a class all by herself! That doesn't mean we don't love other singers /performers too , we do, I do! Its just can't nobody touch Patti LaBelle 🎵👑 The End ! Like someone said, the way she sings is very theatrical and even funny sometimes. So I think she's one of these voices it's either you hate it or admire it, but in a strange way.. But there's no denying she has lung power and a unique tone and texture to her voice.

What you’re witnessing in Patti is a God given gift. Her voice has a beauty, a power so raw and unleashed it has to be from heaven. She’s unrivaled. But what y’all don’t know is that she’s not always trying to outdo others (well sometimes she might be, but she can’t help that). She literally gets pumped when others sing and she just responds. Everyone else’s ten is not like Patti’s ten. It’s not matched. 🤷🏽♀️❤️
That scene with Yolanda and Patti coming in swooping down like an eagle on its prey with that high note I really think that has been a debate was Yolanda really upset even though her face says she was you see Eddie and Gladys wasn't upset cuz they know Patti coming in like a hurricane
The ones who she outsings I’m still impressed by as they have to sing underneath and give her a foundation to sing off from. Music is always a team effort from all the performers (unless you’re singing acapella lol)
Arianna Grande didn't know what to do, where to jump in at she was most definitely confused because Patti was hitting all kind of notes lol but she handled that end part like the princess she is
I sung with Ms. Patti b4. It was a joy. I was ready. And yes I lit the house down!! And yes she loved it and so did I. I have the epic pics of us on that wonderful night 🙂🙂❤❤.
Ms.Patti LaBelle is more than a phenominal woman.I Love her.When I met her at Winstar I didn't know how to act.But, I did tell her that I am n love with her.
The fact she was outsinging Ariana even though Patti is in her 70s. She's truly a gifted woman and is an example of someone who took care of her instrument.
Patti sang with Cyndi Lauper other times and the excerpt in this video is the only one that she actually outsang Cyndi (who has been facing an immune disease for some years). Watch they singing Lady Marmalade and Time after time in the 80s. Cyndi was as good as Patti.
Ugh It hurt my heart a little bit. You can see Cyndi telling Patti to go high and because she needed to take the last note alone. She looked so disappointed in herself.
