We Americans ❤ her too...my mom's 2 brothers died in WWII, these songs meant so much to her💔. May Vera fly on the wings of the Bluebird to her new home in Heaven....🐦🙏💔🇺🇸❤🇬🇧🙏🐦
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face..
Dame Vera died yesterday. I grew up in Ireland listening to her songs. This was before television and even though Ireland was not in WW2, we loved all the ‘war’ songs Vera sang. I am feasting on all her music on You Tube today......with tears in my eyes.

This woman deserves a state funeral, not just in recognition of her own contribution but as a last representative of that generation to whom we owe so much.
She had the kind of funeral she would have wonted. People lined the roads through the towns she was driven. At the last town the RAF did a fly over. She died with the love and thanks of a grateful nation. I spent all of www in England and I will never forget her. god bless u dame Vera.
I hate how when i tell people my favorite singer is Vera Lynn and there Like who, I show them and they say too old. Im 14 and music is timeless, no matter when made.
Memphis never care about what other people think you should be listening too..what you love is all about you..people think they know everything about what someone else should be thinking or doing ..let them say what they like ..you love what you love ..and your right music is timeless ..
I am 78,born at the beginning of WWII, old enough to appreciate a beautiful voice from a beautiful person. From the USA, bless you Dame Vera Lynn and the Greatest Generation.
This lady is the epitome of the courage of this nation. Today at 103 years old her song We'll meet again is as relevant today as it was in the darkest of years of WW2. Our Sovereign Lay Queen Elizabeth is still the inspiration for this United Kingdom and WE WILL MEET AGAIN. Stay safe keep well and may you all come through as we as a nation will.

Vera lynn was one of a kind a rare talented lady what a beautiful voice and a brave lady who put herself in danger to entertain her countries troops. God bless her and rip vera lynn.
Probably my age, but this fantastic woman has added so so much to the British culture and surely only true Brits will swoon listening to her voice plus lyrics, and be reminded of tough times. Fairwell and thank you so much Dame Vera, rest in peace.
I, too, swoon when I hear Dame Vera Lynn sing. I am South African, in my early 50s, and fortunately, I never lived through a war. I have many of her records, etc, and have loved her since I was 12. Music can unite people of different ages and nationalities. She was and always will be my favorite singer and an icon to many. At least we can still enjoy her music and her voice. May she rest in peace. 🙏
I don’t cry. The last time I cried was when my grandad passed away. But the patriotism and beauty of her voice is enough to make me cry. God bless Dame Vera Lynn God bless the United Kingdom. Vera has passed away today on the 18th June 2020. RIP you hero
@@cameronholt7632 yeah. I am not from UK but I subscribe to BBC News, and then look for her songs and her interviews and she's indeed a great figure. Yeah I wish that too. RIP and so sorry for your country's loss.
Was introduced to Vera Lynn’s music a few years ago via the D-Day Darlings. Have since bought Vera Lynn’s cd’s and music is absolutely beautiful. I could FEEL the patriotism and I am American. Wishing she was born here in the U.S. No matter, she and her voice was a gift from God to all of us. Now, she is home and can rest knowing her music will bring comfort to all willing to listen. Thank you Dame Vera Lynn🇺🇸🙏❤️
She loved cats. She is now looking after my two boys and one girl. Little Girl moved on in Oct 2020, left me shattered. They are all FOUR singing together.
Music you can listen to not just bang your head against a wall to illustrate I'm 36 and would rather listen to dame vera than any crap they are banging out now
A legend, an Icon, a national treasure, an inspiration, a comfort & friend to thousands in WW2, a star, a voice of an angel, a role model, a superstar, a heroine, a pin up, a multiple record breaker, a heroine, R.I.P. to an amazing true legend now reunited with Harry, thank you for everything, your voice , songs & inspiration will continue forever, now rest easy you've more than earned it. 😢🐦🐦💐
God bless you Dame Vera. My wonderful grandma used to sing all your songs to me. She knew you very well. I have sung these songs to my children and now grandchildren. Charlie aged 12 loves these songs, Sadie aged 6 knows ALL of them too. And God bless my Mother in her Alzheimers knows these songs and continually sings them. Happiness always.
I was born in 1935, and living in London. I remember virtually living in a very small air raid shelter, and the only contact with the outside World was listening to a radio. Dame Vera Lynn would sing the songs that everyone would listen to.I remember being on my knees with my Mother ,and saying a prayer every night. We constantly had bombs falling all around us.That was how we knew whether it was daytime or nighttime, as the bombing was just constant at night. Vera Lynn was such a great person to listen to, and made life a lot more bearable for everyone during those very frightful times. Many years later my wife and I had the pleasure of attending a show and saw her in person. The show was in Wimbledon, and it started at midnight, and so she performed around 1.30 in the morning.!!!. I have no idea who the other people were that performed that night, but I still remember every note of her performance. Every time that I hear her, as many of you have stated, at age six I cried with my mother, and two other folks that shared the shelter.I have often thought since that she should have sung “ Cry me a river” because she certainly caused plenty of them. Thank you Dame Vera Lynn.

This in fact was The Queen Mothers 90th Birthday Gala, so you could not have had a better star to grace the stage. Not only did Dame Vera get a tremendous ovation, but the ovation for the Queen Mother at the end was overwhelming, it was edited on TV, but I was lucky enough to be there and it was a very special evening and a terrific cast - real theatre, sadly lacking now.
18/06/2020 13 mins ago - Dame Vera Lynn, whose song We'll Meet Again became an anthem of hope and resilience during the second world war, has died aged 103 Auf Wiederseh`n Sweetheart
She was very lucky as there were several ‘Forces Sweethearts’ in WWII. My grandad told me that there were lots of ladies like Dame Vera but she captured the media interest at the time.
Chadwin, WE are blessed to have heard Vera during the war. I was 8 when it ended; I grew up listening to the promises of her songs. I am an American. Would that I live as long as she!
Wonderful. I was born in 1954, but these were the songs of my childhood. I've loved much music throughout my life, but nothing beats this. I was an history teacher and used to play this music to the 13-14 year olds studying the SWW, and it never ceased to amaze me how much it "spoke" to young people. I had some playing in my classroom during an open evening one year. I hadn't realised that I was joining in until I turned round and saw a group of pupils and visitors listening to me.
For those of us in England. during the war w e will enver forget her. I feel honorer d to hâve been in that génération..God bless her now she Is sining with the Angels. We Willy met again.
I am only 36 but .. i feel like i have known her all my life, she has melted my heart and made me cry, such a beautiful lady so very selfless and loving and caring, bless you Dame Vera
Still, today, a nations sweetheart. Dame Vera Lynn, a national treasure and a bloody good singer to boot. I hope when Dame Vera does finally succumb to the next life, this country gives her the send off she deserves. One aligned to royalty.
I was a small child during WW11 and was raised with Vera Lynn singing on the radio. An amazing woman, with a beautiful voice and a load of compassion. There will never be another to match her. RIP and thank you for all you gave to us Vera.
HARD TO EXPRESS THE SAD AND YET, BEAUTIFUL FEELING THESE SONGS GIVE ME, THOUGH I WAS A TODDLER OR A BIT OLDER, I REMEMBER THE COUNTRY ROADS WITH PEOPLE ONLY WITH UNIFORMS, AND THE STRESS MY PARENTS WERE UNDER, NOT ONLY WAS THE COUNTRY FIGHTING THE ENEMY, BUT MILLIONS OF OUR JEWISH BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND PEOPLE BEING MURDERED,
My Mum and Dad waited until 'there was time for wedding rings' to get married on 7 July 1945, just two months after the lights came on again in England!
absolutely amazing the one and only forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn, voice is as clear as crystal even at 73 years of age!!! this is pure talent , not like the crap we have today, RIP beautiful lady , your music will live on forever
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face..
We were proud of our flag when we had something to be proud of. Our dangerous, uncaring, selfish government has made us a laughing stock now, though. And what's more, we're a bout to impose sanctions on our own country.
This terrific woman is the epitomy of all that is good! I'm in my thirties, but believe that Vera exemplifies the true spirit of the twentieth-century! However sugary it may sound, it makes me proud to be British, knowing that Dame Vera is part of my heritage. When Dame Vera passes, I believe that she should be afforded at the very minimum a state funeral befitting that of a queen. Her contribution is just too great!
Very well said. I am saddened by much of what has happened to my country, but to me Dame Vera epitomises all that was great about England and whenever I hear her sing I am swept away on a wave of patriotism!
I was born in 1928 and remember these songs so well. Welcoming in 2015 by watching and listening to dear Vera Lynn. I saw her in Ottawa back around 1980 and the large group of veterans in the audience were still in love with her. Thanks for posting and glad I discovered it tonight especially.
I'm listening to Vera again on the day she has gone to Heaven. What rejoicing there will be among all those who were looking as word went out: Vera's coming, boys.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face..
She's 102 this year! Amazing that she's still alive. They say singing is good for soul, I believe it's good for the body, too. I hope she'll live to 120, but no matter how old she is, her songs will live on to be admired and loved forever.
l Totally agree ! back home in Hawaii , l was brought with her music on KGU ration station in Honolulu Hawaii the DJ was Akuhead Pupule yes! back in the 40's she will be greatly missed , l truly loved her and will truly miss her singing RIP&L
Wonderful performance. She embodies songs of another era and carries it on to our time. A very lovely and gracious woman no matter her age. It's nice we can enjoy her videos from the past to the present.

I love Vera's voice. Especially when she sings we'll meet again don't know where don't know when. My moms last words before she died of cancer. Makes me sad.
What a great woman is Very Lynn! And, what a voice she maintained for many, many years! She brought hope and love of country to the entire world (Allies). I was just about 12 years of age when all this began , and I learned every single song I am hearing here!!! And, I am an American lover of PEACE for which so many fought and died . What a great blessing Very Lynn was and I look forward to her 100 th birthday MARCH 20 , 2017!! Send her very best wishes so she knows we have not forgotten her! Thank you YOU TUBE!!! And THANK YOU VERA LYNN!!!!
A BEAUTIFUL SWEET VOICED LADY I AM ONLKY 86 AND HAVE LISTENED TO HER WONDERFUL SINGING ALL THESE YEARS... HAVE A STACK OF HER RECORDS.. ONE AUTOGRAPHED..MY TREASURES.
One of the most memorable songs of World War II. I think of all the military people who "did meet again" and of all the people who "did not meet again". The song tugs at my heart and affects me every time I hear it. And NOBODY can sing this better than Dame Vera Lynn. God bless you Dame Vera Lynn!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face..
I am in my late 20s, when I look at my lovely Grandparents, and my splendid and still beautiful Great Grandmama and Great Aunt, and they sing along to Vera Lynn my heart almost bursts with pride, and sorrow, and joy .. and the grief of knowing that I shall have them all for only a comparatively little while longer. What a blessing they have brought into many lives, especially mine, with my wife and little kids. I know, I'm daft .. but it is true .. I want them - and the whole world - to know how much they are loved.
Might never happen with Dame Vera Lynn ever passes away I think she should get a state funeral my parents were older when they adopted me my grandmother was in the first world war my adopted mother and father win the second world war and Vera Lynn was an inspiration to millions apart from Judy Garland thank you I don't think she'll ever realise how many lives she saved. By giving the British people and the Commonwealth inspiration thank you Dame Vera Lynn
This woman is another true Queen of Britain. apart from her beautiful voice. looks and songs. its Her. that our brave soldiers clung onto for hope when they faced the darkest times that Britain had ever seen.
I will be turning 19 in september, and this is the sort of music I will listen to on a daily basis. Most of my CD's are songs from the old days. Artists like Vera, Gracie, Doris Day, Bing Crosby, dean martin, alma cogan and of course teresa brewer but one of my all time favourites is miss eileen barton music isnt real anymore
A true great historical voice, always young and fresh, capable of instilling joy in the darkest and most tragic moments of British history. Requiescat in pace !!
Dame Vera Lynn makes you feel happy and warm when she sings RIP along with all those brave men & women that gave there lives to give us a new tomorrow GOD BLESS you all
Thank you Dame Vera for your WWII tribute, also for my family members & a fiancé of a grandmother (who died) in WWI. Thank you sweetheart Vera for your tribute. Signed, a former United States Air Force Officer.
Dame Vera went to Burma in WW2 and sang to my Grandad who was fighting there at the time. Very few entertainers went to Burma in the later part of WW2.I think a peerage is long overdue for Dame Vera. She was on the radio recently at age 99 commenting on the Queen's 90th birthday.Cheers,Julian
As many have noted, her voice never grew older (compare the original recordings of songs by her with versions recorded 30 years or more later), nor did her feeling for the story each song was telling lessen. She always sang every song as if it was the first time she'd done it. She is still with us, bless her.
Oh my, I had not heard her voice since my early childhood. My grandmother was from England, living with us during the war. The Brits had Dame Vera Lynn and we had Kate Smith. There was no internet or skype of course, but these songs kept the spirit up. England was being bombed unmercifully and a story I cannot verify says that Dame Lynn was performing one night in London when the hits started to come. "Save Vera Lynn, Churchill can fend for himself." Brilliant video, many thanks.
Magnificant! She should wear a crown adorned with musical notes of her songs. She will never be replaced nor duplicated. A true monument to those war torn years that shall not tarnish, How i would love to meether and listen to her beautiful notes.
This Lady has some class!! I just hope we'll meet again some time, even though we have never met.She did indeed give reasons for high morale to the troops in the day. Larry K
@@russell312 bless your family, may god bless them and may you reunited with them when god is taking you home. Forever willI be grateful for these Great Men and Woman!
loved when she says "all the boys will be home again all over the world" which i am thinking all the nations whose "boys" will finally be coming home after a hard fought war..from the beginning of time "boys" have that need to fight whether its over a "girl" or a nation but listening to this wonderful woman Ms Lynn sing and sounding just like she did during the War...love what this gentleman said about how much the Brits will continue to fight against the germans or anyone who tried to take over their island...we will fight and we will never surrender!!!
WOW, Still such stage presence and such beauty. And that Glorious god given voice.Wonderful Thankyou Dame Vera for Everything. My grandfather was in WW2 and he recalled just how the boys lived to hear her singing and just for a brief moment they felt that "Home" Was there with them and that people were thinking about them.
Bloody true most are just ferals and would'nt fight their way out of a paper bag or the strength to tear the skin off a rice pudding they just sponge on the rest of the population and think its just great
Media has blinded critical thinking skills of people. Nowadays, people praise (using 'great'), cry and complain easily. "On par with Churchill" ? On par with the man who predicted Nazi onslaught and led British Empire and who is the greatest English orator till now? A bit too much for even Dame Lynn. But, I understand your sentiment.
