I agree, if he doesn't lose his franchise because of this it's because the entire league knows they can't pass an audit either. But IF that happens, the NFLPA is going to see that they're getting fucked over too, because every owner underreporting revenue would mean the salary cap has been artificially lowered, taking money out of players' pockets. So I think the league will probably sacrifice snyder to prevent that from happening.

I once met a guy who worked for Dan Snyder in the mid 90's. He said he got fired and when he went to Dan's office to complain Dan Snyder wrote him a $10k check and said go away and never bother me again.

The FTC that is not good and if the proof wasn't substantial they wouldn't be involved. Daniel Schneider should have lost this team a long time ago and I feel for the fans of that franchise.
I'd agree except that Snyder is rich, so he'll probably face no real justice for this. At absolute worst (for him), he'll have to sell the team and make hundreds of millions or billions of dollars in the process... He should be sent to prison for a couple decades instead. If it were you or me, we'd probably be looking at 20 years or something...

A lifelong fan of Washington. I am old enough to have witnessed the glory years. I hate what Snyder has done to our team since his tenure. A once very proud and respected franchise is now the laughing stock of all pro sports. So embarrassing. Hopefully, this is what is finally going to end his reign.

The person who bid against Snyder when he bought the team was Joe Gibbs (former head coach of all 3 Super Bowls). Joe Gibbs owns Joe Gibbs Racing and could potentially try again with more capital than he had in the 90s
Congress should not be spending its time imvestigating a completely private business matter. That is why businesses conduct audits. WTF is congress doing our country is going to S and they are spending time and money on the NFL....
I'm guessing it's because the rights to the team are officially in DC proper, so a state AG or whoever can't take it up as would probably happen with any other team. I don't know why it's Congress though and not the DOJ or something instead...

Well this whole Dan Snyder thing is not good... nobody should really be surprised. Billionaires are never good people. You can't become a billionaire without stepping on everyone you possibly can. Growing up in northern virginia everyone here hates him with a passion. Its sad it takes him stealing money from rich people for them to care instead of his 50+ sexual harassment accusations in their organization.
Don't think he would want to throw everyone under the bus without any evidence or proof. They're businesses and kinda the cash cows that are the focal point of his business. I'm wondering if these are going to just end up in civil lawsuits, or is there criminality here? Yikes! I once did a revenue share deal with a hotel on a New Year's Eve party and not only got screwed, the hotel General Manager made it so obvious he wasn't even worried or embarrassed about it. It was a lot of money but not enough to hire accountants and lawyers and he knew it.
As a life long fan, it's been difficult. Most of Washington's fans having been calling on him to sell the team. Hell, we were pissed when he snatched the team up from Jack Kent Cooke's family 20 some years ago.
I honestly have a hard time believing this is true, to the level of 'only' $5 million. If your worth hundreds of millions to a billion+, why would you commit ANY crime for a mere $5m? It simply makes no sense. This is either wrong, or was done on a scale that must be hundred(s) of millions of dollars over the course of Snyder's ownership.
It's crazy Dan hasn't been forced out. When the REDSKINS Fans stopped attending games, that should've been a sign to other team owners. You can't do fans the way Dan has and get away with it
