@@kimberlyjames8877 yes, their daughter has already been mentioned in legacies. It has already been confirmed by Julie plec that Damon and Elena had two children. The daughter's name is Stefanie Salvatore but the son's name has not been revealed yet. Julie plec said in an interview that there is a possibility that Damon and Elena's children will appear in legacies in future.

They split the episode to show Damon's two sides. That's why Elena told him twice to be the better man. The second time he tried, but the werewolves weren't having it. So he killed them and he enjoyed it because that's who he is. That's when he decided to call Andie. They split him that way because she can't expect him to be good all the time. He's a vampire.

Love too. They loved each other and said it multiple times. Damon became human for Elena and had kid's with her despite how much he loved being a vampire. Elena and Damon where there for each other and Damon wanted her to be happy even if it was with Stefan. He proved that when he compelled her to forget that he loves her.
