Same!! Cause his love for Elena has been known from the start and it’s basically a part of him, and starts off as something selfish. But I just LOVE his love for Bonnie. It shows how much he’s grown as a person, that he can love someone that much that isn’t his family (Stefan) or the woman he’s in love with (Elena). Damon truly loves Bonnie like a best friend, and their relationship is so beautiful 😭😻

This is the difference between Damon and Stefan. Stefan respected her choice, it was a good thing, he was a good boyfriend but sometimes he just respected her choice a little too much, it kinda looked like he prioritized Elena's feeling over her safety. But Damon, his priority was Elena's safety, he will do anything as long as Elena was safe and alive, even though she will hate him for it. There's nothing wrong with Stefan's way of loving her but I prefer Damon's way ^^
Sometimes, your choice doesn't matter when it's going to get you killed. Sometimes, there has to be someone willing to hurt your feelings and say no, I won't let you do this. Someone who looks out for you while you're too busy looking out for everyone else. Elena is reckless, and Stefan encourages that; Damon is the one who stands and goes nope, not letting it happen. That's a huge difference.

Damon’s always been there for Elena every time and the one time he’s not is cuz of someone else and their agenda then everything goes to hell wen he’s gone. so loyal it’s awesome then wen I heard this line from Elena I was like awe how romantic

She’s nice, smart, loves her friends, does anything for anyone, tried not to break hearts but it was always gonna be Damon ofc, beautiful, saved mat and turned into something she Never wanted to be, a vampire, lost everyone in her life, protected a lot of ppl. The only thing ppl can complain about her is how she cries and needs saving a lot mostly by Damon and Stephan, but like they enjoy saving her- they love her
i’ve noticed that it’s just not elena that he would do anything to protect. he saved caroline from the wolf bite, bonnie from kai, and stefan from cade and the sirens.

What I realized watching TVD this time around; I believe this is my third watch through - is that I think what ultimately made Damon fall in love with Elena over time, ironically, was that he could intimately relate to Elena, a human being who fell in love with a vampire and wanted to do everything in her minimal power to protect him, including sacrifice herself. This is who Damon was to Katherine, through and through. I had never made this connection before. Damon was innocent and loving, obstinate and well-meaning yet incredibly naive at times, just like Elena was at the start of the show. She reminds him of who he used to be and what it meant to be human.
Most of the time what im thinking when i watch things like this is how some people say bamon was better than delena. Damon just loved to keep the ppl he cared about safe and he cared for elena the most

I love how in the scene when damon is trying to explain that she can't go in the house is the first hint in the show that damon is really starting to care about her. That's why I love damon, everyone focuses on the bad things he does, but he's a very sensitive person when it comes to getting his feelings hurt. No one focuses on the fact that he will do literally anything to help the people he loves.
See….I can understand why people feel like things like this are toxic. And he shouldn’t grab her. HOWEVER, it’s a fantasy setting and when you’re in a dire situation you have to make choices to protect people. I haven’t seen most of this show yet, but I think it’s really sweet. And a lot of times it seems he’s just desperate to protect her and control situations so they don’t get out of hand. It makes perfect sense and is sweet. I personally don’t think someone has to “consent” to being protected.
The scene in the classroom where they're going to save Stefan annoyed the shit out of me. Her obsession with Stefan in that season was just so fucking cringe lol, I liked them both a lot more after they broke up.
Damon is the realist in reading the situation without an emotional sentiment. He doesn't allow Elena to play martyr for no reason and sacrifice herself for the greater good. Virtue signalling Stefan, who "respects her choice", simply doesn't have the balls to stand up to her and protect the woman he loves at all costs. Whereas pragmatic Damon doesn't mind being a bad guy and get his hands dirty because "someone has to do that job".
Both D & S are awesome on their respective ways of expressing feelings. While Stefan is the Beta who loves her and respects her decision,Damon plays the Alpha who loves her but makes the choice for her, whether she likes it or not
