Damon Salvatore: The Big Bad Vampire | REACTION 

While Stefan fights through his blood addiction, Damon relishes in it, but he doesn't want to. He didn't want to be a vampire but now that he is, he acts like he doesn't care. But the love for his brother and Elena eventually change him to be a good man.

Damon was my favourite character from 'hello, brother' in the pilot ep all the way to the end of the series. He is so well written and so well played by Ian that it's impossible to imagine anyone else in the role. The others, Paul, Candice, Nina etc are also excellent in their roles. This video was so good, giving you a far better idea of why he is so well liked despite some of the evil crap he pulls.

Damon Salvatore is by far my number1 favourite character ever, he is a very complex and multilayered character and this video did a very good job of showing some of the layers but trust me he even has more sides to him that has not shown here and when you eventually watch the show ,you’ll be able to discover them for yourself,the psychology of the character has been written amazingly realistic that he feels like a real person and that’s why so many people could relate to him,even though he is a vampire .he is so deep that it reminds me of an ocean.the more I rewatch the show, the more I discover something new about him. It’s incredible. He is definitely one of the greatest character in the history of TV shows. , I’m really enjoying your reactions so far and I’m so exited now for you to watch the actual show , I think it’s gonna be amazing .

Damon character is one of the most iconic, wonderfully written TV show character there is around. And because of that is also the most copied archetype. I see Damon's copies everywhere but nobody can quite measure up to the complexity, the charisma, the compelling story of Damon Salvatore and his brother. He is not a monster, he never was, he is misunderstood, deeply wounded, used and abused man that just gave up on people, and give them what they aspect of him, a bad boy. Bad unjust reputation does a number on people.He built up walls to protect yourself from hurt, put up a facade of bravado, dangerous, scary vampire and use humor as a bandage; keeps distance from people and feelings, and snaps as someone that would act like 'I hurt you before you do or because you do', because as he said "there is only so much man can take". But deep inside he is hurting unbearably, because he knows, he don't deserve the life it was forced on him since he was a kid. Damon is like a stray dog, being bitten one too many times. When finally after a century of lonely unloved terrible life, two people showed him love and tenderness, so he could finally slowly open up and be who he really is, someone with the capacity of immense love, a loyal caring friend, and a tender brother. Damon is all of this, plus being tremendously entertaining, snarky, sassy, sexy AF, and irresistibly charming like no other. You aren't wrong about the Iron Man comparison. Purely in terms of the humour, the wisecracking one liners and sarcasm, that's Damon and Tony written all over it.

I love this show and I LOVE damon, he is my favorite character, and this show has a lot of great characters. This may seems like a teen show but is much more than that, and believe me, I was far from my teen years when I watched it for the first time…. the story line is really good, and the growt of most of the characters was very well written. Highly recommend to react to TPV.

Damon is definitely the best character on the show, not only does he have the best story arc/character development he is also part of one of TV's best couples and has the best friendships on the show

The Robert Downing Jr comparison is spot on what's actually going on here is the American obsession with the concept of the charming, privileged, witty sociopath with a heart of gold and finding all the ways we can excuse and forgive that person in exchange for them being entertaining and hot.

It's interesting since in the beginning we think Damon is "the big bad vampire", but really be went through a lot which made he not care anymore. He didn't want the vampire life once Katherine was gone, he only wanted to turn, for love. It was stefan who forced him to complete the transition. Love was his biggest driver, and also the thing that turned him "bad". Both Damon and Stefan had their bad moments. Yet Damon was always tarnished with the bad brush. Stefan was a ripper for centuries, but people forgot all about that. In comparison, stefan was actually a lot worse. Damon was just misguided. His love and loyalty for Katherine blinded him. Or in Damon's words 'she ruined' him.

I get the connection between Damon Salvatore & Tony Stark. They're two individuals who on the surface, APPEAR to be "Perfect" - Handsome, Rich, Charming, & Popular. Every WOMAN desires them, and Every MAN wants to "be" them. On the surface, they BOTH give off an air of aloofness & self-indulgence; as well as being self-absorbed and impulsive. BUT.......... It's (what's underneath) that tells an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY !!! BOTH of them are Broken; Insecure; Vulnerable; Compassionate; Supportive; Protective; Visionaries; Kind; Loving; Neglected; Sad; And most importantly..... LONELY. 😢
