Awesome video. Just got back from my first backpacking trip. I bought new equipment. Mystery Ranch Sphinx 60, Big Agnes 25 inch Q Core, Grayl water purifier, Platypus bladder, Tiny Pump n Kelty Cosmic 20. All worked great. I was carrying close to 40lbs of weight. Had to adjust the bag several times but once I got it the weight felt as if it was part of my body. Awesome product. Definitely going to get another mystery ranch bag

I love my Frankenstein water setup which is something between the two of you. Katadyn befree, with a gravity connector, and onto a 2L hydrapak. Then I put an Osprey quick connect onto my water bladder hose. Let's me feed water out of the befree into the bladder whenever I need.

What are your thoughts on the Tiger Wall UL2 non Mtn Glo vs the Mtn Glo version? Am considering the Mtn Glo version for the luxury/convenience for only 1 oz weight difference. Any downside to going with the Mtn Glo version in your opinions?
@BackpackingTV
@BackpackingTV Год назад
I've used only the Tiger Wall UL (non mtn glo) and the Copper Spur Mtn Glo. Before I used it I thought the included lights was a gimmick. But I actually really like the feature and use it a lot, very pleasant ambient lighting. If that sounds good to you then go with the Mtn Glo. Good luck!

Turn your sleeping bag inside out, the protective outer layer reduces the air exchange, so using the side out method, you will be able to compress the sleeping bag more :) Canada eh! :)

After I had an air mattress completely fail on one trip I started bringing two 55 gal drum liners with me. I can then fill them with leaves, pine duff or pine boughs etc and have a browse bed.
@tridoc99
@tridoc99 2 года назад
That is a great tip. Lighter than a closed cell foam back-up or a back-up inflatable and the weight is so low I wouldn’t mind packing it every time. Thanks!

@johnschmalbach8243

@@BackpackingTV make no mistake. It's only as a backup to my Nemo Tensor Insulated wide pad lol.
@johnschmalbach8243
@johnschmalbach8243 2 года назад
@@tridoc99 yep two suggestions. Try to get 6 mil liners, not thinner than 3. You will invariably get some sticks in there and you don't want them poking through. Also remember you will compress the material so for comfort/insulation you want about 4" of compressed thickness which means you want to have them at least 8" thick before you lay down on them, depending on your weight of course. I find 8-10" works well for one night. I experimented with it overlanding once and found that waking up after the second night I wish I had restuffed them because it compressed further.

I tried sleeping on a foam pad not too long ago, and i must say that "sleeping pad" looks less than ideal, lol! If i was a backsleeper, i could probably deal with a foam pad just fine, but im not... Wish i could get a good nights sleep on it though, so i didnt have to worry about punctures in the inflateable pad...
