In a special event at Comerica Park, Dan Dickerson and Craig Monroe regaled their audience with stories from Tigers past, including what Magglio Ordonez may have said just prior to hitting his historic blast to clinch the 2006 ALCS.
I know some people who call themselves Tigers "fans" who either bad-mouth the '06 American League .Champions or just try to ignore this team's legacy. They're not real "fans." Just reaching the World Series is monumental. There were 28 other teams that year who were envious of the Tigers. And, only three years after losing 119 games, this team brought so much joy to the city and the state of Michigan.
I miss going to games with my grandfather. Those were some of the best times in my life. I wish I could’ve seen them win the championship while sitting next to my best friend.
I was 20 but the Tigers had been bad my entire life and I had only attended 1 game in person prior to this, and probably watched only a handful of games on TV. Didn't care about baseball. I'm now almost 38 and I like baseball a lot. This moment I wasn't watching live either but it ultimately got me interested in the sport at large, not just the Tigers.
