Good history lesson! When I was younger I used to think Joe was a jole character in the SNK side because of his team up with Dan in the game, before I knew anything about SNK.
Funny enough, when mom saw my brother playing as Dan in Street Fighter V at one point, she said "oh, I know that guy, it's Joe right?" She was remembering her time playing Joe Higashi in King of Fighters back in the arcade days

FTR: Joe actually has a working relationship with Lily, at least the last time I'm aware. This is known to piss off Billy Kane whenever they meet. It's not like Billy and Lily live together mind, Lily is back in the UK and Billy is earning money to support them both (...well, the cash is decent under Geese Howard), so Billy can do absolutely jack to stop them. If you ever do a piece of Lily Kane, yes, she can fight just like Billy can and doing the laundry makes her really buff. EDIT: I was under the impression that he might have adopted some of his sister's animations but I am mistaken.
@@TheSeventhForce Hang on, I might have remembered the movelist incorrectly. Billy's HSDM predated Lily's version (2002 was before 2006). I thought he took that from her. Sorry!
Fun fact...Dan shows up in Akuma's ending in MSH vs SF as Cyber-Dan. And since Cyber Akuma is a nod to Mazinger....Cyber Dan is a nod to Great Mazinger! Also, SVC Chaos made the Otoko Michi even more OP by outright removing the self damage and having it be Dan's Desperation Move/Exceed..so it uses no Meter but it's one time use only.
Dan's such a goofy fun character the amount of love poured into him is immaculate the first time i had heard of Dan having a sister, was his ending in SNK vs Capcom Match of the millennium, where he and Ryo are rivals (think sf4 arcade mode) in the ending Dan lists off the similarities between him and Ryo, and references her, and how goh hibiki is portrayed in pocket fighter "i have a father who can shoot lasers from his nose!" always loved the line "next time we'll see who's who! who's the fake, and who's the original!" he says to Ryo in it
CVS1 > CVS2 in my heart. Both are amazing games but there's something more that clicks with me when it comes to CVS1. Sometimes I like CVS2 a bit more, but 1 doesn't get enough love.
Oh, absolutely agreed. CvS2 is inarguably the better fighting game from a mechanical standpoint, but I've always maintained that CvS1 has some of the best aesthetics and presentation of any 2D fighting game I've ever played. I tend to feel the same way about MvC1 compared to MvC2 and Second Impact compared to 3rd Strike lol
@@TheSeventhForce Both of those are correct imo, though I feel like with CVS1 its not fair to compare it to 2, since both play differently. One is almost a bit like KOF 95, the other is more like an SF Alpha game. CVS1 is so ridiculously fun, also great vids! I hope you make more.

CvS2 kinda feels like the logical conclusion of Capcom allowing more freeform playstyles starting with Marvel 2 with it's team building, Alpha 3 with it's ISMs, and CvS2 taking the ISMs and running with it. CvS1 kinda stays moreso in it's lane gameplay-wise and that's still okay. And thanks! That means a lot.

Funny part about through all the years, Dan canonically speaking is still a weakling than said Joe Higashi. Joe kinda acts like Kuwabara in a sense he wins some fight majority he loses. Dan though, I bet he can’t even beat a crow. But to pair him with Joe is somehow realistic on the developers part since the two are kinda each side’s character laughing stock during those times. P.S. I heard Dan Hibiki defeat a group of thugs in a Street Fighter manga that stars Sakura though…that might be the closest credibility Dan will ever get.
