Please don’t ever quit Dan, even if it takes full weeks of Samson for you to recharge we will deal with it 🙌🏼 also if they’re letting radio people go at ESPN I hope you use your audio production knowledge to either continue building out the ship or help more pirates like you set up their own ships to sail these seas. You already do enough but when this current round of advancement succeeds, and you and your wife get bored of vacationing, and you’re looking for more to do… Stu too, before we lose him to the endless Dead tour. So much professional knowledge and experience between you both that I hope continues to get shared and grown by your peers and the talent you’re growing. Thank you for sharing it all!! Also great interview!!! His description of Wizard/Floyd was better then my experience with it lol was so high and still so bored. Hope he comes back for more drone talk, the convo at the end about rules of war not made for this is an important comment on the need for a bigger conversation about running never ending war-style operations, especially in areas where like he said stability will not come before the need to stop a terrorist threat does. Heady, important shit. Blending it with sports and normal tomfoolery is the best way to handle it. Always easier learning about the world and tough topics through honesty, jokes and comraderie

To think Jeter truly had the decision making ability for the Marlins us ludacris. He didn’t succeed but 5 years to redo all of the wrong Samson and his step daddy did for two decades…. I do agree that Derek Jeter isn’t that much of a failure business wise as let’s say Jeffrey was. That’s because Jeter didn’t have the time to do worse things. Jeter, even though he was a minority owner, it’s clear he had MORE control than a regular minority owner ever was. Why else do you think he would agree to be Bruce Sherman’s partner? Jeter was the one who would go to marketing events, interviews. He WAS the one who brought Kim in, he was the one who named the budget cutting plan after his alumni. He was the one who fired a scout who was recovering from cancer, who fired marlins employees, who agreed to rank-and then he played dumb on tv by not knowing what that word meant.

Jeter should've moved to second and Alfonso to third. Jeter not recognizing A Rod's defensive superiority and stepping aside for the better of the club tarnished his rep in my eyes, as did Jeter declining Joe Torre's offer to become permanent lead off man despite the fact that he put up better numbers hitting first as opposed to second.

Jeter should not be in the HOF. Is there purely for his marketiblity. He was a liability to the team for the last half decade of his career at least.

A-Rod had more natural talent than Jeter, but Jeter was a natural leader. He embodied the Yankees culture and was Team Captain for a reason. A-Rod lacked a lot of intangibles & leadership qualities despite being one of the most talented players ever.

My friends & I did this like 20 years ago, just like he said hitting play on the cd player on the third roar, & one of the things I always remembered sticking out was the line "the lunatic is on the grass" when they're all on the yellow brick road while the witch is hiding to the side on the grass. Wow I haven't really scene Dan since I used to watch PTI and ATH years ago. But I must say we got one interesting subject and it went into another subject that was equally interesting all through though on a whole different level, It was also odd to hear in a room full of career men. So that was funny to watch also. But this was a good clip, I'm glad I watched it. But fear I will never get this quality of clip again. But this one was sure interesting and entertaining.

He'd likely still be in the HoF. Ask anybody who's been around the game long enough and they'll tell you Jeter was one of the most well rounded ballplayers in history. He wasn't the best in any category, but well above average in nearly every facet of the game. Because he was on the Yankees he accumulated arguably the greatest playoff career ever. This wasn't by accident.

The Jordan vs Jeter thing is due to: 1. Charlotte was always horrible 2. Charlotte is a tiny market, one of the smallest in the League 3. Jordan didn't get fired, he sold as a majority owner 4. Jordan never presented himself as a moral authority, he was the cut throat SoB who wanted to win. 5. Jordan is extremely image conscious and keeps an extremely low profile, so hard to criticise him 6. Jordan is vindictive af, he cut all ties with Barkley when the latter criticised his handling of the Hornets. So most people don't want to openly critique him and get on his bad side. 7. Jordan didn't get rid of the defacto team mascot and make other unpopular changes. He just sucked at drafting talent.

Big baseball fan but have no need for pre/post game. Get enough out of the broadcast. They were put together for the tension. Everyone knows they don't get along and they are both polarizing. Arod for roids, racketeering claims, association with criminals; and Jeter for non-rule violating prickness. Arod had to watch Jeter bungle SS and get all the credit. Jeter is lucky he played in his era, where you have to throw the ball in the stands to get an error. He would have been exposed in the 70s, when SS was really hot with Astroturf infields and error rules.

A rod isn't mature enough to be professional when it comes to Jeter. A Rod is such a needy type of personality that his insecurity when it comes to Jeter will always make A Rod look uncomfortable. Jeter was the classiest player I've ever seen. And from a young age, he always, every time, said and did the right thing. He was a person that you could only wish your sons would emulate in every way. I never, ever, felt that way about Dan LeBatard. Jeter tried ownership of a baseball team, failed, and got out. Other than folks like LeBatard sniping at him from outside, there was not one ounce of controversy from the Jeter end in his ownership. He did his best and it didn't work out. I didn't hear any whining or scapegoating from Derek's side - to his credit. Meanwhile, LeBatard, if he wants to go throwing dirt, might try doing it to the bad guys, there's certainly enough of them to go around.

RU-vid is hard civil when 4 commentators are trashing 2 of the greatest ball players ever and financially set for 20 lifetimes. This mealy mouth from the Marlins every time I hear him he’s spewing nastiness. I’m not giant fans of either one but enough already.

we idolize these guys and put them on pedestals - at the end of the day they are just flawed humans like the rest of us that just happened to be good at a sport and made millions of $ doing it on TV entertaining us

Covid definitely helped but Jordan is just different. Lance Armstrong had something come out on ESPN right after Jordan and it didn’t hit at all.

Jeter was always a bit over rated. He is a little protected by the media. A-Rod is a great player and a great commentator. Jeter loses.

@platanorico86 Yankees is top 3 most wealthiest sports organization in all of sports in America. And Jeter is a Yankee game. Jeter is still king of NY as far as sports goes. A-ROD (even though he was my favorite player at one point) will.never be the king of anything.
