Love this- get ‘em trained young, Lou. Awesome job Dan. Always takes time to get your groove in front of an audience. Lou, you’re just the warm up act now, Dan got this.
Love watching my tequila mentor and his sidekick!!!! I am a huge fan of Pasote’s Blanco!! Additive free and priced right!! Thank you for providing me with all the tequila info!!! You are a Hall of Famer!!!! Salude good buddy
If this tequila thing doesn't work out you and your son would make excellent flight attendants! This intro so reminds me of the "how to inflate your life preserver and wear a seat belt speech". haha - love you guys - keep it up!!!
Wonderful review by Dan and Lou. I like Felipe's products but feel the blanco is just as good and complexed as the aged ones.Would be great if the aged expressions became several steps above the already great Blanco.
The apprentice & the master ! Great job Dan ! Always wanted one of these . Loved the look and logo . Why did he pass off this brand to a different distillery ? It was one of his first !?!
It was the only brand that he didn't own a piece of and was never offered any. There were disagreements I believe, with production timing and the quantity that was being demanded, and when the contract ran out Felipe decided to go his separate way
Great review. Agree 100%. Love the fact it is a little higher proof. One of the best XA on the market and not a lot of chatter about it either. Got 3 bottles already, going to have to buy another!
My local store has had some blancos sitting on the shelf (paper label, alas not the etched, but still 1579). Grabbed two just to have. Love this XA but it’s the repo that does it for me.
Yes Felipe didn't want to renew their contract after he felt he wasn't treated right, and they as wine people, didn't know anything about the tequila business, and we were making demands that weren't realistic.
Yep they were, and now they're not so great. I did a review and comparison comparison. It tastes like cinnamon cake icing now for the most part. I mean it's still drinkable and the distillery is not horrible...but I don't like it compared to what it was. They can blame nobody but themselves
How would you compare it to the El Tesoro XA,which is aged 5 years in a bourbon barrel? I might be wrong, but I didn’t think that you could re-charr a bourbon barrel as there’s always some residual alcohol in the wood(The Devil’s Share),which is what makes them so good as a vehicle for aging.
I have this pasote extra añejo but have not opened it ... The El Tesoro XA is absolutely wonderful specially for the price. Please not i am talking about the regular el tesoro XA and not the 5 year paradiso (which is also wonderful lol)
Hey Jett, they're two separate animals, so I really can't compare them. As I always say Felipe purposely ages very light, and Carlos ages very dark.. except for Ocho. For me they're for two different purposes. When I'm in the mood for a heavy XA, usually in the winter, I go to Carlos... otherwise Felipe does the job for me. They're both very good, they're just different. You can re char bourbon barrels, they do it all the time, but what you say may very possibly happen. Salud
You ever think of venturing into Mezcal or Raicilla Lou? Also, tahona cascahuin secured. My dad went home to Jalisco and he found the last two bottles and bought them. One for me of course.
